Just wondering what happened with the old board. Since it's been revamped everyone has left and now trolls roam free to turn that board into the biggest bunch of garbage I've read in a long while. Thank God I found this site otherwise I may have drove myself nuts trying to find a place to talk Browns football.

I remember when the site was respectable. When I first joined to talk football I didn't know as much as the other posters, but they helped me learn and now I feel as though I can have intelligent conversations and exchange ideas due to those posters such as Eotab and Overtoad. But the old board has gone to the.... dawgs? Just wondering if anyone has any insite on why that is, and why no one told me they were all talking on this forum. haha.

Any thoughts?

[thought on] The Browns ruined a really great thing. [/thought off]

And, who were you on the old board?

The Browns bought a new package to use for their website and it included the version of the board you see now. It doesn't have the capabilites that are needed to make it what it was before because the board was not the amjor part of the purchase. The refs have tried and are trying to work with the FO and the people who sold them the package to make changes.

As for why no one told you about this forum we have been trying to that through PM's.

Morons from Hell, with input and guidance from the "Good Idea Fairy", are clearly responsible for ruining the old board.

It is clear that fans discussing and presenting their views, on a chronically substandard product (our Browns), was too much for the suits to take. We openly pleaded for and expected quality football expertise to restore our beloved Browns back to greatness. What we received might have been achieved by long vacations, no player investigation, and using the famous numbered ping pong balls to determine who we might draft, usually known as the Policy/Clark draft of hope theory.

During the Botch Epoch, draft theory went to a simple, "who did I recruit to play at Miami", and the use of a velcro ball & dart board set. Players not making the list were ignored as not fitting our system or fringe players.

Let us hope and pray that as Phil's draft theory is explored, we will be able to find big fast lineman that can terrorize and beat their opponents into submission (Phil's Fantasy). If not it may rank more closely to the Botch Epoch/ Phil's Phantasm/smoke and mirrors.

Ted Nugent said,"that Davy Crockett shooting at Santa Anna's Army was the right thing to do, he just wouldn't get the Hispanic vote today".

The folks in Berea gave us the two finger salute (one bird with the left hand, and one with the right hand) They ignored our pleading, turned therir backs on us, and turned a def ear.

Why the old board went to heck is a story for the ages... I guess what it comes down to in it's simple form is that the Browns Organization somehow, someway decided that Dawgtalkers weren't an important component to thier marketing efforts...

I can trace the beginnings of this back a few years to the first time I went to Training camp,,, To tell the truth, I and my fellow Talkers were treated as if we were royality or something.. We were allowed to park in the lot directly across from the front of the complex on Lou Groza Drive.... we were directed to the side of the building and when we entered, we received VIP credentials and a Free Media Guide.... then we were told to head for the tent where free food and beverages were provided... Frankly, we were allowed to roam all the way around the fields,,,

It was amazing and I felt as if we were included, wanted and frankly needed...

Then the next year, it was completely different. we had to park whereever we could, walk miles to get there and then we were met by a nice kid named Josh (I think) who's no longer there I might add.. we did some game thing and some of us were awarded prizes,,, which I came to find out, took months and months to actually be given out to the winners... No free food or Beverage but we did receive a Media Guide..

Then this last year,,, NOTHING...Not even the Media guide.. we were suddenly second class citizens.... Heck, we didn't even actually have an offcially sanctioned DAWGTALK Day (DTD as it was known) Just a bunch of us got together and said, let's meet at this place and then head over to camp...

A month later, the Browns said they were improving the board for all Dawgtalkers,,, we were getting a new site, with new features,,,

well, the rest is history,,,we are here now and thanks to PPE, we are somewhat back to normal,,

Sorry for the long winded answer,,, I'm in a soapbox kinda mood this morning,,

Enjoy this board, the people are wonderful

Another unsolicited endorsement, from yet another satisfied customer! And now..........back to your regularly scheduled program

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

The onyl drawback this site has is that it is *unofficial*, but all of the other features MORE than make up for it.

The chat room, the links at the top right...everything a browns fan could ask for right at his/her disposal.

I can be a CB... I'll be the league's best 5'9 CB... as long as there are no other teams in our league.

I'd like to be the third string quarterback! (I'm getting too old to go out and run around and get hit, plus, my arm isn't what it used to be, but wearing hats and carrying clipboards is still doable).

The Cleveland Cavaliers use the exact same board as the Browns. The Cavs fans have no problems. Even Scout (old ez boards) have revamped their boards. Maybe these old forums are just to expensive to keep up?

Wanna bet the Cavs fans have no problems? I've seen a number of people who don't like those boards either. That board is not newer or better it's the throw in that comes with the package.

Tha Cavs board is almost as bad as the new Brownschat. I believe there are post jumpers on the official Cavs board too. I know one thing - their average age and maturity level is about the same.

Talking about Cavs boards, RealCavsFans is like this place - where all the level-headed, mature posters hang.

The Cavs board is no better. Especially the people that post there. I think thats what it all boils down too.

Thanks to Lama for the backstory... I've always wondered about that.

As for the quality of the board itself- I was willing to adapt to the new look, until I saw how quickly the quality of posts went downhill.

Bottom line: where you click your mouse is secondary. People make a message board what it is... and all (or most of) the best ones moved here.

As far as I'm concerned, this IS the official board.

The quality of the posts has a lot to do with the quality of the product. It's next to impossible to moderatebecause of the lack of tools to do the job according to some of the people who have tried.
