I wasn't saying their movies suck, or that they don't break from the stereocast they carry once in a while.
But when Jim Carrey is doing a comedy, he relies on the same contorted faces, rubberlike body language, and goofy smiles.
Nicolas Cage, I like a lot of his movies, but most are the same character with a new name, and new goal. As others have stated he's always saving the world.
Adam Sandler, most of his movies you see a bit of Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore come out in them. Although 50 First Dates and Big Daddy were both good movies where he didn't rely on his "Dumber than a 5th grader" character style.
Now John Travolta, as much as many love to hate him, I find he really changes his roles often. He plays as good a bad guy as he can play a good guy, or a lunatic, or a genius. Tom Hanks and Leo DiCaprio also seem to really diversify their roles well and don't get stuck playing the same character over and over.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

I am sorry, this is multiple times that I have seen DiCaprio's name come up....and while I admit he may have some certain skills....They never seem to translate....for me....ESPECIALLY whenever he plays any type of "tough" role or his character has to be "tough" for a scene...In my best Jimmy Valmer voice...."I mean co, c, co, c, c, come on". I start to laugh everytime he starts to get worked up.....Tough???? Him??? I mean really...my sister could beat the snot out of him...(of course my sister is pretty tough and could probably beat the snot out of a bunch of people even though she is 4'11" and weighs next to nothing....)
I agree that DiCaprio gets into his different characters while others seem to have a base character that get superficial differences. They are different people but you always see that same character underneath. But just because he does so, doesn't mean he does a good job.
Personally I think DiCaprio over thinks his roles and tries far too hard and it always comes across as a person acting a part instead of like some better actors say a Tom Hanks that let the part come out of them...Some actors just let the part live(see Val Kilmer in the Doors)...while too many actors try to bring life to the part and it becomes too obvious...DiCaprio is of the latter for me...
I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken...
What's the use of wearing your lucky rocketship underpants if nobody wants to see them????

I'm more excited for The Expendables Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, and my Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Will there ever be a more testosterone filled movie full of gore and explosions? I say no.

Only if Hillery Clinton, Janet Reno, and Nancy Pelosi star in one.

I'm so friggin' ready for this movie. I find it hard to believe it could possibly live up to my expectations though.
Also, Van Damme and Steagall turned this movie down.

Personally, I agree, he doesn't fit a "tough guy" role well, and I don't care for most of his movies, although I did like "Catch me if you can". But my point was that he seldom plays the same character over and over, he does a good job of mixing up his roles so he doesn't end up typecast like many others.

The dude is a horrible actor and would have never made it had his first movie role not have been in his uncle's movie.
His first movie was actually "Fast Times At Ridgemont High".
All of his speaking lines got cut but he's lurking in the background quite often.

Actually, he tells Judge Reinhold something like, "Your sister's hot."
But that's it.
