So far it seems like people like Bruce Davis, Tony Pashos, and Brian Russell.
I wouldn't mind seeing any or all three of those guys on this Browns team.

Yeah, Pashos is the way to go...he wont come cheap though...and we wont be the only team after him
cant believe we kept both Lockett and Sorensen...both are useless as S....how many players do we need that made the team only because of ST? Lawson and Costanzo too, those guys cant play in case of injuries....go get some S....Russel as a backup would be ok, even though Im trying to tell everyone on here for 3 years now, that he was NOT that good in SEA...he may have had his best years of his career as a Brown.
I would give Pollard a shot even though he sucks in coevrage too...
wow, I just read that the Bengals cut Marvin White....we should get him ASAP, he is WAY better than Adams, Lockett+Sorensen...he is pretty solid imho...he was big part of the reason DA looked like crap in "that" game in Cincy in 07...Cincy even released Corey Lynch, liked him as a prospect...is Cincy this deep at S?
White > Pollard > Russel for S
O'Callaghan and Britt from the Pats are interesting for OT....and Pashos of course...Pashos might even push StClair
Bryan Smith from the Eagles (3rd rounder 2008) might be worth a look as a DE/OLB tweener should have been drafted by a 3-4 team to begin with)
Oglesby (BAL) and Courtney Brown (DAL) might be worth for DB
Brian Williams-DB- Jaguars Sep. 5 - 5:19 pm et The Jaguars have reportedly put DB Brian Williams on the trading block. They're desperate to get rookie Derek Cox in the lineup. Williams has value as a corner/safety with good tackling ability, but the 30-year-old's $4 million salary may be too prohibitive. The Jags may just end up cutting him.
----------
I'd definately try to aquire this guy too

If you are asking about Earl Little, he has been out for a while. His last year in the league was 2005.
My request was geared to Deep's remark about LJ Shelton,....

The lions cutting Shaun Smith makes me feel good. That guy needs to stop running his mouth and start learning how to play football. He very well could have played his last NFL game. When you get cut by a 4-12 team and an 0-16 team that is dire need of a Defensive tackle, I think it speaks volumes about your ability and attitude. Does Shaun Rogers still want to go there Shaun or were you just running that mouth to be heard.

I think the only way we get Brown in here is if he gets number 92 so some people's jerseys aren't obsolete anymore.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

besides the obvious people..
We don't really need him... but I see the Bucs cut Mario Urrutia... I always liked that guy when he was at Louisville.. Thought he had great size and decent speed.. not to mention a nice set of hands...
wonder what happened?
Also.. to those that thought Harrison would get cut... Eat crow...

I think Mangini did alright, and stuck to the best players for the most part. Some that come to mind, that did not shine or were expendable are Ratliff, Leon Williams, Jamal Lewis. If anyone wants to admit it or not, Jamal is not a feature back anymore unless you long for a mediocre running game. Ratliff looked bad in comparison to Bartel, but that was his guy(favortism). Leon Williams will never start for anyone in the NFL but plays special teams. Patten wasn't worth the 3 million, so I think that was strictly business along with the fact he is old and we have young capable talent.
The two guys I was intrigued by was Jennings and Bartel. Sad to see we couldn't hang on to them some how. Ali was expendable, thus Rucker getting reps at Fullback just in case. Rucker could have been expendable to as he is one dimensional such as Winslow, with half the talent. Heiden and Royal are getting up there and in my opinion we will see Safety, Tight End, the never ending search for LB, and a right tackle as next years main focus in Free agency and draft.

A lot of teams only have one fullback. Quite frankly, I'd have been more surprised if we had kept Ali. I think Heiden and Rucker will be our backups there now.

Eating crow as I type!
I seriously wonder why we didnt find a way to keep Jennings tho....the kid played a good game against the bears...now before we get the tired rebuttle that it was against scrubs lets remember that Jennings was playing against talent of his level....with some decent coaching/mentoring the kid could learn to take his game to the next level....I am excited to see what Davis can do once the regular season starts I think he was a steal in the 6th round....I think towards the end of the year Davis will be our starter, and Harrison will spell him from time to time.
I still worry about Harrison's injury history.....the kid always seems to have something that is bothering him.
Lewis I am glad to say will most likely retire as a Cleveland Brown, I see this as his last year....

Exactly, he was playing against talent of his level. So he probably wouldn't be nearly as good against starter talent. You just made the opposing view's point. He'll get put on practice squad.

He played above the talent he was facing and showed good running ability. He will land somewhere I bet. I believe he even made some special teams plays, which is what you have to do to prove yourself. He ran hard and aggressive, and showed a nice feel for the run game...minus one play. A five yard loss. Not saying he is great, or deserved a spot, just that I like what I saw, no matter who he was playing against.

Just Clicking
I got something that has been hurting my head that I heard on Sirius NFL radio the other morning. Actually it was a replay of Late Hits with Ross Tucker and Dan Leberfeld. Anyway they were interviewing Rod Hood a day or two after he signed with the Bears. In this interview he was blasting the Browns organization and went so far as to say that he was not given a chance to win the starting job. When I heard this in my mind I was replaying him getting beat like a drum during the Titans game. To be honest I got the feeling that he was pissed because he wasn’t named a starter simply based on past accomplishments. He even went so far as to say that him being released was a blessing! Now that he was cut AGAIN less than 5 days later it really makes my heart swell! I guess getting beat out by our 6 round rookie wasn’t enough; now this loser just got cut by a team that has secondary issues. The funny thing is after the interview Tucker was just blasting Mangini as he has seemed to do all Preseason. I also just noticed that the worthless DL Sean Smith has been released by the Lions. Well, that makes two veterans released by the Browns who went on to so much fame and glory that they are now looking for work AGAIN. I don’t know if Mangini is going to be successful here or not but I tell you that there are few things this preseason that I rreall questioned. Just my two cents

The Jacksonville Jaguars finalized a trade tonight with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for quarterback Luke McCown, the Jaguars announced.
Luke McCownAPLuke McCown has been traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a conditional draft pick.
The trade is for an undisclosed draft pick and will become official when McCown passes a physical.
McCown is entering his sixth season in the NFL.
League sources believe it's a good fit for McCown in Jacksonville since there's no anointed quarterback of the future with the Jaguars unlike the Buccaneers, which drafted Josh Freeman in the first round.
McCown could wind up backing up starter David Garrard.
The 28-year-old former Louisiana Tech quarterback has been with Tampa Bay for the past four seasons. He has started seven career games.
For his career, McCown has passed for 1,617 yards, nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions for a 75.2 quarterback rating.

If they had a real offensive line they wouldn't have had to keep 8, and that would have left room for Charles Ali, somebodys gonna get a good player. Veikune wasn't cut, but Beau Bell was.
They should sign Garcia now, because last year Both Anderson and Quinn were injured. David Patton I will miss ,
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Also, haven't seen this mentioned.
But glad to see Harrison made the cut. Figured he would. But some people on here wanted Jennings over him. I wanted both. But of the two, I take Harrison too.
Hopefully we can get Jennings onto the practice squad.

If I recall, the Garcia experiment did not work well for the Browns back in the day. It would be a huge mistake signing him. I will not miss Patten; I never see 6 WR formations in regular season games.

General reply
Cant argue with a single decision made. I liked Ali but you dont need two FBs. We have a solid core of players. No team is perfect and we have our weaknesses like at Tackle and TE and Safety
Think about it last year hood and ivy would have made the team. says something. .

I think Mangini/Kokinis really made a statement by trimming down the roster to 52... instead of 53...
that means the people that were cut... REALLY needed to be cut... No almost making it on this roster.. Mangini could have kept Jennings.. could have kept Herron... could have kept Hubbard... could have kept Leggett... Interesting they did that...
So when are we getting Alex Boone?

How long before we can set up the practice squad?
I'm thinking if they slide through we'll see: Bartel Leggett Jennings Titus Brown OR Bell I believe we brought back OL Braxton for P squad.
Its 8 man squad now right???
maybe DB anderson, S abdullah, DL ? , walker TE?
obviously this omits other teams cast off that could be brought in.
thoughts?

Cut costanzo and sign zack follett! We still have no pass rush. Follett started at OLB in cal's 3-4 and was 2nd in the nation with >20 TFLs last year. He was 1st team LB all PAC-10 (the same conference that had 3 1st-round LB from the same school. Was misdrafted by a 4-3 team that was deep at Lb. Go get him!

Living in Milwaukee, I hear/get a lot of Packers talk.....They cut Antoine (Antonio?) Smith, former safety of the Steelers. He was having an awesome preseason and there was talk of him even beating out the '08 starting safety Atari Bigby. The Packers had a lot of depth at safety and it sounds like they decided to keep the young guys....
Might be a real good pick-up as a backup and to also provide some info on Steelers considering he was with them for the past couple of years...

Follett might be worth a look. Can't be worse than what we have at LB, and he has experience at 3-4 LB.

Just imagine if Mangini wanted to play with some minds and kept Bartel as the 53rd man until he signed that extra OL. Everybody would be going nuts thinking Brady or Anderson were just about to get dealt.

Two LB's on my list:
Bruce Davis and Zack Follett
Follett is a pretty smart guy so I'm guessing Gini gives him the nod over Davis..
Glad I'm not a GM cuz I would cut Leon Williams and bring in BOTH!! lol.

The Bills cut their starting left tackle, Langston Walker. Yahoo SportsQuote:
Walker’s release means another change to an offensive line that was completely retooled this offseason. A two-year starter at right tackle in Buffalo, Walker was taking over on the left side after the Bills traded two-time Pro Bowl selection Jason Peters to Philadelphia in April.
Walker is 30 years old and has started all 16 games the past three years. What do you guys think?
It also mentions in the article that they re-signed Kirk Chambers, who they released earlier in the week.
Also, is it just me or do the Bills seem like they are falling apart real fast. They sign the T.O. circus, mostly just to get attention, they trade their Pro Bowl starting left tackle, they fire their offensive coordinator a week before the season, the owner calls the coaching staff in for a pow-wow to make sure things are okay, the former offensive coordinator blasts the current head coach for wanting a "Pop Warner offense," and now they cut their new starting left tackle and sign a guy that they just cut on Saturday.
Crazy.

whoops , just posted that in it's own thread.
too late.
I'll see if I can still delete it/ EDIT( there deleted.)
Now then. he is a poor LT but as a RT seems worth taking a look at. He could be better than St.Clair or I would think definetely better than the udfa rook we just picked up. Granted I know nothing about that kid.

13 years in the League,...and throw in his time at Michigan (a reason I would consider this OK),...he's been through the wars a long time -- can he help us ? Would it be an upgrade at RT,...? Does he even PLAY RT ?

If he's healthy, I think he'd definitely be an upgrade over St. Clair. The key, obviously, is his health. Given that he's still available, however, I have my doubts about his readiness. Well see...
