I asked this early in preseason about CAMP....now that the real games are starting which two guys are going to be making all the local headlines for the Browns?

For the Steelers....its Stefan Logan and Mike Wallace....probably the two fastest guys on the team.

This is the fastest Steeler team I have ever seen...on both sides of the ball......and honestly...probably the best Steeler team in years.

If they can avoid that dreaded injury bug...should have a big year...

What two GEMS did the Browns find this preseason?

Do you want the 2 biggest players on the team?

Or 2 under the radar guys?

I'm going with James Davis and Alex Hall.

Davis is going to take away carries from Jamal, and wouldn't surprise me if he is the starter at some point during the season.

Hall has made HUGE strides from a guy drafted in the 7th from tiny St. Augustine, and probably by most reports, was expected to go undrafted.

Otherwise the 2 guys I think could have a big year are Rogers and Edwards.

I'm going to go against the grain a little bit....

#1 Womack

he has looked very good at RG, gotten good push on run plays and has yet to be flagged for a penalty or give up a sack. there is a reason these threads continuously talk about finding a RT but do not mention RG anymore.

(note: if he has to move to RT, then all bets are off...I do not like him there...hopefully, if needed, he can prove me wrong)

#2 Eric Wright

he's well on his way to becoming a shutdown corner....i don't think he's there yet, he still is figuring out when to gamble for the INT and when to sit back, but there's a reason that QBs stay away from throwing to his side of the field.

#3 Rubin

had to put him here after his preseason.....i'm just giddy that we have 6 DL worth playing this year....all of them good run-stuffers (sadly only Rogers and possibly Corey good pass rushers though)....Rubin really stepped up with Rogers out and earned some serious playing time

i think if the team is successful the guys getting the most attention are gonna be named ryan and mangini.

as far as player acquisitions, obviously davis already is getting a lot of press. coleman on the Dline is going to have a big impact, but i dunno if that means any talking heads will talk about him.

I, too, will say James Davis. I LOVED the pick back in April, and still LOVE the pick. I think he is going to be our every down 1,500 yard, 10-12 TD back next year.

Another guy... Kamerion Wimbley.

I know, he's not really "under the radar", but many of our fans are considering him to be a "bust" already. I think he breaks out this year with about 8-10 sacks.

Hopefully James Davis and Kamberon Wimbley

This is kind of easy, James Davis and Alex Hall. If you've read on the board lately a lot of people are "cautiusly optimistic" about James including myself. He won't amaze anybody with his speed but he hits the hole hard and showed the ability to break a long run.

Furrey and Kenyon Coleman.

I'd also put Corey Williams in there, because I think we have one of the best 3-4 defensive lines in the NFL, IMO. With Robaire and Rubin backing up and the Pats looking to go to a 4-3, I think the Browns are looking at, in the very least, a top 5 3-4 D-line this season.

I don't think the Pats will run a 4-3.

Offense: Cribbs as a WR, Furrey in the slot, and Davis will play more than Jamal.

Defense: Hall and Francis.

Somebody forgot how to count to two ...

James Davis and MoMass

Both have shown through the preseason that they are ready to make an impact this year.

While it's off topic, the trading for Burgess and trading away of Seymour, I believe it's just another step towards changing to the 4-3. Even if they stay in the 3-4, I believe our D-line is better than theirs.

No way dude. The Pats have a nose who may be as good as Rogers in Wilfork, and an end in Warren who is much better than anyone we have.

Then they have Jarvis Green who could possibly start for us, Ron Brace, and other guys who I'm too lazy to look up right now.

I think Mack will emerge as a top center and either Harrison or Davis as RB. Also Massaquoi and Robiske will be very good

NFL investigating Mangini's role in Jets' failure to list Favre injury
Associated Press NFL.com

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini can't seem to escape from New York.

The NFL is investigating Mangini's role in the Jets' failure to list quarterback Brett Favre's arm problem on injury reports last season. Mangini coached the Jets during Favre's one season in New York before he was fired after the team collapsed down the stretch.

Spokesman Greg Aiello said Mangini's actions will be examined as part of the league's inquiry.

"Since he was head coach of the Jets at the time, we are reviewing his role in the situation as part of the overall review," Aiello said in an e-mail response to The Associated Press.

On Monday, commissioner Roger Goodell said he expects to rule on the matter this week. The Jets and Mangini could be subject to a fine.

Mangini said he has always abided by the league's guidelines for injury reports.

"That was true there (New York). It's true here," Mangini said. "It'll be true every week of the season and that's how we approach it."

Goodell said the Favre case is an opportunity to stress that all teams must abide by the injury report rules.

"We establish policies. They're to be followed. And all 32 clubs are going to be held accountable for that and, unfortunately, when someone violates it, the other 31 know that," he said.

More fodder for the Mangini haters...
