Yeah they are. I remember fighting my way downtown in a blizzard only to find out my first class was canceld because the prof didn't show. I waited around campus for my second class and the same thing happened. I gave up on the waiting for the third class and caught a bus back home.

Real world my farthest walk is from a parking lot to the building. Not 10-15 minutes.
I'm more pissed about my room, to be honest. My windows are closed as tight as I can get them and it's still ridiculously cold in here.

With all these reminders about taking care of yourself in the cold and take care of animals, one can only surmise that some of the people who post here must think that the other people who post here are completely winterignorant.

A lot of people commute to work. Some wait on buses that run late, etc.

Put blankets over them and roll up towels along the window sill. And, this is good training for home ownership. Trying to conserve energy and warmth.

What exactly is wrong with a friendly reminder? Like "don't forget to winterize your hose bibs" or "take a sweater" or "take an umbrella"...? I'm sorry you find those so insulting, you would have hated my grandmother...

I just find it abhorrent and repugnant the insinuations that people aren't smart enough to take good care in the winter. MY GOD, this isn't the first time it's ever been this cold, and it has been a lot colder.

funny you should mention that, We just got two little 10 week old cocker spanials on Friday, we named them Mator ( from the movie cars) & Tucker, my daughters got to name them. We went to look at one and the other was so cute we couldnt pick so we took both...anyway there both getting snipped right now....actually they did at 9:00 this morning,..

Well that was fun  I had on thermal, 2 shirts, hoodie, coat, gloves and I was shaking walking, damn it's seriously no joke out there, be carefull. And to top it off it started snowing and blowing in my face, hehe. Yeah and I am also in the real world too here, I have to go to work at noon, joy joy! Hopefully by now the damn heat is actually hot in my car

J/C I find it funny all these northerners complaining about the cold. Unless pipes are frozen up and you don't have water in a building, there is no reason to close anything. I say man up here and get tough.
