j/c Depth Chart Ramblings...aka...does the depth chart mean anything? Furrey is behind Cribbs and...arguably behind Mo Mass (Although "slot" receiver is not listed as a position) Harrison is ahead of Davis Fraley is ahead of Mack We have no QBs on the depth chart...not even Ratliff C Williams is a backup...I think he will play as much as any other DL though Bowens is ahead of Hall and Lawson is listed as #2 KR and PR I know...I know...probably doesn't mean a darn thing...but it is created by someone in the organization. Oh yeah...still only have six on the practice squad...which is weird if you ask me

still don't get why we didn't go after Pashos...I like Trautwein but again, why a rookie?
Now that I asked myself since I had read on another board that Mangini would surely go after TP if he was released..as far as the rookie goes...he can be developed since he's young.
Why was TP released ?

I didn't watch that close either. But from what a few people have said, he didn't look bad.

WSU Willie ... apparently U still after all these years don't yet understand when you run the 34 U draft tweeners..I don't need to rehash why..it's how it's done..

oooo...I was doing this most of yesterday
Hilliard...never heard of him until I was checking the roster and possible OTs we had the week before the Bears game - Then when I saw him Starting at LT and Sowells at RT...I looked at both very closely.
Excellent footwork by Hilliard and he was low, strong and quick in his run blocking duties...I actually think he would have been #1 in line for LT in an emergency.
Thats why I hope PT that we picked up is actually better...just like they thought DeAngelo Smith was better than Lockett. Bernard was let go only cause we picked up guys in other areas of need...he was a keeper but probably wouldn't play (inactive list guy) cause we had Wimbley, Bowens, Hall, Leon all in front of him.
But I was impressed with Hilliard and am glad I we got him on our PSquad...way, way better than Sowells.

Are you referring to my sig?
If so, please understand that I "get" the drafting of college DE's for the 3-4.
What I did not want was the using of a Day 1 pick to get another tweener/project...like a Wimbley.
My point is that we were at a point where we needed guys who could step in and play RIGHT NOW. (Example...take a Nagota (sp?) over a Wimbley.)
I think Veikune will be a good player for a long time and am happy we took him...I just did not want that type of guy this year on Day 1.

Signature....hehehe...o.k...actually I have to agree with you..but if you want the best tweeners U usally look for them in rounds 1- 3.. They guy I wanted was Sintim..he was already a 34OLB..who lacked coverage skills...I would have slid him down inside..sometimes I wonder why draft people don't do the easy thing..

No, not really. But....
Having no QB's listed on the depth chart was hilarious.

Just a couple thoughts here.....
Sorenson made our roster over a few players I thought had a pretty good chance to stick, yes he made it becuase of special teams and maybe becuase of Pool's health at the safety position, but still I was suprised.
Shaun Smith was let go bye the Lions, Guess his little song & dance didnt last to long in Motown.

Former Cleveland Browns veteran defensive tackle Shaun Smith has had a rough week.
It started when the Detroit Lions released him on Saturday night and ended with him being suspended four games for violating the league's anabolic steroid policy, according to a league source.
Since Smith was released, roughly six teams have contacted him about the possibility of signing him. But Smith had to inform each of those teams he will be serving his suspension during the season's first four weeks and he will be available in Week 5, if anyone is interested. Smith also told teams he took a water pill, an over-the-counter, non-performance-enhancing substance.
Water pills are banned under the league's anabolic steroid policy as they are commonly employed to mask steroid use.
Over the past two seasons, Smith started 20 games for the Browns. Shortly after Cleveland released him this summer, Smith signed a one-year, $1.1 million deal with the Lions. It is unclear whether Smith's pending suspension entered into Detroit's decision to release him.

something was seriously wrong with him...now if only he can get on a team so he can be really suspended... cut by the Lions... how low is that.

my understanding is that the probability of getting D.Smith was considered low, so they made a bid on floyd as well.....and ended up getting them both. he'll be the first to go if something else comes along.
hilliard is a great prospect, and murray played guard pretty well.

I'm not that concerned. We have Hank and Hadnot as back up. Steiny can swing to LT if need be and we still have someone else as a body...

As of today the Rams' back-up tackles are Adam Goldberg and Eric Young. Didn't both spend some time here? Yet........ they were kept over Phil Trautwein. If there was a chicken little icon it would be useful for this thread

Injured.... but that is fine with me as I was not enamored at all with his play last season... so, personally, I feel that if we are counting on him for anything - we're screwed already.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.
