Don't like ACORN. Never did. Very fraudulent organization.

With that aside, prostitution should be legal. Underage is, of course, a different story.

Why would anyone be quiet about this navy.. if true it's a horrible thing and I hope those women end up in the pokey...

I have to admit, there was some bad editing in there. It would have been very easy to video the outside of the ACORN office, then set up in any office somewhere else, hire a couple of actors and edit it to look like it was done inside of an ACORN office..

But I don't know that happened.. either way,, if real, it sucks.. hang them all..

If false, hang those that set it up...

You do understand that the "prostitute" and her male friend were not serious, right? They did this as sort of a sting operation, if you will.

Correct. That would be very easy to do. In the next few days though, we'll find out.......face it, if the 2 that did this faked it, the media will be all over it.

Yeah, I'm aware.

I'm also guessing by the neighborhoods they canvas that ACORN probably talks with it's fair share of prostitutes, hence the sting.

I was just commenting on the laws against prostitution. Probably the dumbest and most un-American law on the books.

ACORN fires 2 after hidden-camera footage aired
(AP) – 1 hour ago

BALTIMORE — The nonprofit housing group ACORN has fired two employees at its Baltimore office who were seen on hidden-camera video giving advice to a man posing as a pimp and a woman pretending to be a prostitute.

Fox News Channel broadcast excerpts from the video Thursday. Those excerpts showed a man and woman asking about buying a house and how to account on tax forms for the woman's income. An ACORN employee advises the woman to list her occupation as "performance artist."

Maryland ACORN board member Margaret Williams says in a statement the employees "did not meet ACORN's standards of professionalism."

The statement also says the video was an attempt to smear ACORN and that undercover teams attempted similar stunts at three other ACORN offices.

ACORN stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

Did these people just get fired or is somebody going to go to prison? Many laws were broken.

Glenn Beck does have a legit question as to why no other news agencies are covering this.

Nope,, didn't take long at all..

I agree however that there is more to the story and that these women deserve a greater punishment than just losing thier jobs. Someone ought to look into it further to see if this is a trend in other ACORN office..

Honestly, if it's isolated to this office (I suspect not) then I have no issue with ACORN.. just some nutty employees that should be punished.

But if it's happening in other offices, then I'd say that's indeed a smoking gun..

Well it is clear that this wasn't just actors and made up. These people were fired and then Acorn says that it was just a smear campaign and they were unsuccessful at two other agencies. LOL. It only took them 3 tries to find a room full of corrupt Acorn workers. It's not like it was just one lady. The other lady referred to the next one as the best. Business as usual at Acorn.

Acorn is corrupt and people need to start recognizing it the way it is.

As far as taxes go, I'd put it down as business as usual. To escape taxes there is no limit to American ingenuity and I didn't mind that aspect of the video, in fact it was the one thing I found amusing. What I could not help wondering about was besides pimps and whores, what other illegal activities is ACORN facilitating?

Well that was the only way they COULD get Al Capone. They would have preferred to get him on murder and rackaterring charges but they are state charges and he was to well connected to be convicted of anything in IL. So they had to go after him with a Federal charge and the only one was tax evasion.

Does anyone understand that acorn - ACORN - takes federal tax money to run, then turns around and not only "helps" people to break tax laws, they encourage illegal business as well?

They not only encourage it, they actually tell people how to do it.

They register tens of thousands of illegal voters. They help people break the law - they TELL them how to do it, they tell people how to qualify for home loans that normally wouldn't..........and they do this all on our tax money?

And O listed working for acorn as one of his accomplishments?

They are screwing this country. A lot of people screw this country, and I'm tired of paying for it.

How much you want to bet it won't be long before O distances himself from acorn? Or tries to, anyway.

This organization is crooked from the top on down, and our president was an advisor to them. I'm sure they were on the up and up back then, though.

Now, how can this be a political smear campaign when ACORN is (cough, cough) nonpartisan?

Someone ask the ACORN spokesperson how exposing corruption in a "nonpartisan", tax-payer funded group is a political smear campaign.

I'm not kidding; I want someone to ask those officials that.

Nice to see this organization finally exposed for what it is. The accused should be prosecuted and not just terminated from their positions with ACORN.

The fact ACORN receives federal funds is appalling. This situation alone should, but won't, automatically disqualify them from any further funding.

State's Attorney Considers Prosecuting ACORN Video Posters

Friday, September 11, 2009 - Anne Kramer, Robert Lang and Associated Press

The activist group ACORN has fired two employees of its Baltimore office who were seen on hidden-camera video giving advice to a man posing as a pimp and a woman posing as a prostitute.

Fox News broadcast excerpts Thursday from the video. The man and woman ask about buying a house and how to account on tax forms for the woman's income. An ACORN employee advises the woman to list her occupation as "performance artist."

Maryland ACORN board member Margaret Williams says in a statement that the employees "did not meet ACORN's standards of professionalism."

ACORN spokeswoman Sonja Merchant-Jones told WBAL-TV that she believes the video may have been altered to make the organization look bad.

The statement also says the video was an "attempt to smear ACORN" and that undercover teams attempted similar stunts in at least three other ACORN offices.

Williams said no tax returns were filed and no assistance was provided.

The Baltimore city state's attorney is considering prosecuting those responsible for taping the ACORN employees on charges that they violated Maryland's wiretap laws.

STATEMENT OF STATE’S ATTORNEYS OFFICE FOR BALTIMORE CITY RELATIVE TO THE ALLEGED BALTIMORE ACORN INCIDENT

Baltimore, MD – September 11, 2009 – We have received inquiries from citizens and the media asking whether the Baltimore City State’s Attorneys Office would initiate a criminal investigation for acts allegedly committed at ACORN offices located in Baltimore. The only information received in reference to this alleged criminal behavior was a YouTube video. Upon review by this office, the video appears to be incomplete. In addition, the audio portion could possibly have been obtained in violation of Maryland Law, Annotated Code of Maryland Courts and Judicial Proceedings Article §10-402, which requires two party consent.

If it is determined that the audio portion now being heard on YouTube was illegally obtained, it is also illegal under Maryland Law to willfully use or willfully disclose the content of said audio. The penalty for the unlawful interception, disclosure or use of it is a felony punishable up to 5 years.

*****

The Maryland state prosecutor's office went after Linda Tripp in the 1990s on two wiretap charges. Tripp was accused of illegally taping a phone conversation with Monica Lewinsky about her relationship with then-President Bill Clinton and disclosing the conversation to Newsweek. Prosecutors decided to drop the case when Lewinsky's testimony was suppressed.

The video was shot by film maker James O'Keefe, who posed as a pimp who said he was going to run for Congress. The video also featured a 20 year old woman who posed as a woman named "Kenya."

The video appears both on You Tube and on the Web site of Andrew Breitbart, a columnist for the Washington Times and Drudge Report.

In the video, O'Keefe and the woman tell the ACORN staff that they are smuggling teenage girls from El Salvador to work as prostitutes. The ACORN staff tells them to list the girls as dependents, on tax returns.

The ACORN staff member tells the pair to train the girls to "keep their mouths shut" about what was taking place.

Republicans have criticized ACORN for campaigning for Barack Obama. The group has also been accused of committing voter registration fraud.

ACORN conducted a massive voter registration effort last year and became a target of conservatives when some employees were accused of submitting false registration forms with names such as "Mickey Mouse."

ACORN has said only a handful of employees submitted false registration forms and did so in a bid to boost their pay.

Today, on WBAL's Shari Elliker Show, Iowa Republican Congressman Steve King called for a congressional investigation into the group, which he says received federal money to support its efforts to help the poor.

Also today, ACORN has fired two workers in their Washington office who were seen on hidden-camera footage giving loan advice to a man posing as a law school student and a woman pretending to be his prostitute girlfriend.

Fox News Channel aired parts of the video and posted it online Friday. It shows a man and woman at the group's Washington office, asking for help in buying a house for her prostitution business. The employees advise her to tell banks that she's a consultant with her own company. They also tell the supposed law student he could buy the house, but to avoid going there because of his political ambitions.

In a statement, ACORN's president of housing and executive director say there will be an internal review.

For those who are wondering "where's the coverage? ... where's the outrage?", now you know that - at least in Maryland - the outrage is reserved for the people who exposed the corruption instead of the corruption itself.

Unbelievable isn't it? I guess when the major networks - but for one - are in your pocket, you can spin anything you want.

Obviously the actions of the ACORN representative in this case is completely unprofessional and borderline criminal (I'm not sure whether giving out information like that can actually be considered criminal....e.g. telling somebody how to make a bomb is covered under 1st amendment protections, see the anarchist cookbook)

On the other hand, what exactly does this have to do with Obama?

What does this kind of activity inside ACORN have to do with Obama?

You must be kidding.

Prior to his 150 or so days as a junior senator, Obama's work resume included his role as a "community organizer" for ACORN. It's the only thing the guy had ever done.

If you had not already connected the dots, you still won't.

Oh....I get it! Obama wrote the booklet on how ACORN representatives should assist clients trying to engage in child prostitution.... It's amazing we elected that guy as president.

Oh, for the record, you're forgetting his 7 years as a state senator.

I'll tell you what has me in an uproar out of all of this, The fact that the guy dressed like a pimp had to be the "Whitest guy with a fur on in the summer" that I have ever seen.....

Oh, and to add to this thread, the two popcorn workers had to be the DUMBEST people alive........I wouldn't hire them to watch out for forest fires....

You want me to feel BETTER about him being a State senator of ILLINOIS - that hotbed of moral and ethical politicians - prior to becoming a US Senator for all of 5 months before launching his Presidential campaign?

ACORN is a corrupt organization with King Obama's name stamped all over it...it is his key accomplishment prior to fooling people into voting him for President.

And that is pathetic. Downright maddening that they would seek to prosecute the people that exposed acorn for what it is, a fraud - due to "uh, you can't tape people without their consent".

Unbelievable is what it is, and damn frustrating. Okay folks, forget the fraud, we're going after the people that taped the fraud".

Flat out sad and pathetic. However, it's taught me one thing: screw the gov't. and taxes - let others pay.

His key accomplishment? Please.

Obama was never an employee of ACORN, ever.

He once worked for a law firm which represented them in court.

He was once on the board of directors for a group which donated money to them.

He twice worked for organizations that had previously (though not on the projects he worked on) had ties with ACORN.

He volunteered for two two-hour leadership sessions with the group.

http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/acorn_accusations.html

That's barely the highlight of his career.

Um, you do realize the link you posted made acorn look bad, right? I mean, not worse than the videos posted obviously, but it made them look bad.

And say what you want about O, one of the tenets of his campaign was acorn......he was proud of it at the time he was running for president.

Funny, now that he IS president, he isn't saying anything about acorn and the billions they get from tax payer money. Ironic? Or a pattern of O's? I don't know........I do know the rev. jeremiah wright was good enough when o was campaigning.........right up until j.w. looked like he would cost O votes and then all of a sudden O "didn't know anything about all the hate" j.w. preached about.

The dots are there. Maybe we don't have them connected correctly? I'm sure it won't be long until acorn says the losers that were attempting to legitimize prostitution and tax evasion in baltimore AND dc, were frauds.

I'm sure it won't be long until o denounces what happened as well. He seems to have a way of using groups or people right up until they hurt him, and then he attempts to distance himself from them. Usually by saying "I didn't know......."

Yeah, b.s.

Also, the link you gave - I got tired of reading the excuses it made for acorn - but how does that diminish o proclaiming and running for election on his "community service" record? If anything, it damns him even more for being associated with such a fraudulent organization. Run off my my tax dollars, by the way.

O helped acorn chicago help people get home loans that should never have qualified for home loans.

He was proud of his "community service/organizing" read: he was proud of telling people how to defraud the gov't. and banks.

And what does he want now? More money from workers to pay for health care for the 50 million that don't have it............or was it 37 million that don't have it............or is the 15 million that don't have it? Depends on when he speaks I guess.

I'm not defending ACORN anywhere on here. I said above that the employees should be fired.

Actually as politifact says, Obama had been underselling his associations with ACORN (which as I noted, aren't that great to begin with) from the very start.

Not sure what you mean by that...since they walked in with hidden cameras, and obviously weren't a real pimp/prostitute...in some sense it's a fraud. But I still think it's a reasonable discription of what happen, and spells out some very serious problems with ACORN.
