Down here in Columbus I get probably 97% Buckeye talk on the radio.

So what radio stations in Cleveland do you recommend for sports? And I'm only interested if I can listen online.

I just have to say what the local hosts and callers are saying about this mess we have going on.

Do you listen to 97.1 in Columbus? I've been listening to that on my way home lately. They talk more Browns than any other station I've listened to in this area.

97.1 is the only station I listen to. From 7 AM til about 5 PM.

I like it, but its definitely not enough Browns talk. Must have MORE . . .

Okay, I just listen to them for an hour or so on my way home and they talk about the Browns some, a lot more than anything I can get in the Dayton area, it's nothing but Bengals there. Blech.

This.

The Really Big Show from 9-12 may be the best radio in the entire U.S. Not to take anything away from anyone else there.

Can't stand Rome. The guy is an empty suit. My teenage son knows more about the sports world than that clown does.

I don't know if it's in a different time slot now or not, but I used to listen to the Mid day show and loved it! Both of those guys are great!

ESPN Radio is pretty good, I like Rizzo, and Rome....alot of C-Town people dont like Rome. But the guy is usually right, and he has some pretty good takes on stuff. He goes after OSU alot, which is why C-Town people hate him.

Rizzo and Hammer is fun show to listen too, neither know much about sports, they are wrong almost all the time but anymore its less and less sports and more banter.

Reghi knows the most about sports, hes right quite a bit. His show doesnt turn into mindless talk like Rizzo's can. I actually can listen to Reghi and get some in depth takes on the Browns, Cavs, and Bucks. Whereas some of the other shows are just homer fests.

Best move 850 ever did was get Munch off the air, that show made me wanna pull my hair out. Someone that senile should never be allowed to have his own show, good guy but a terrible sports talk show host.

Munch got promoted to Sports Director and Reghi was being underused, so it was a perfect fit.

The Really Big Show is NOT gonna butcher Jim Rome. Hell, everyone aside from Jason Whitlock who fills in for Rome is God awful. If anything, Rome's people are gonna butcher the Really Big Show because they're gonna have to stay on schedule and make sure he gets to breaks on time. Plus, Rome's crappy bumper music is gonna replace Hammer's choices. I love Rome but I'm sick of hearing Welcome to the Jungle at 30 past every hour and that other song at the top of every hour and Up All Night as the final bumper.

I really think the Really Big Show is gonna be a HUGE hit and will become one of Rome's staple replacements. Rome and his guys loved what they heard when they listened to the show when he visited. Love Rome or hate him, he's no dummy and there's a reason why that kind of radio is such a huge hit...because it's different. RBS is the same kind of show...not your traditional sports show. Hell, today's show had me rolling before I had to head to class.

I've thought the RBS could appeal nationally for awhile. I just wish I could catch more than an hour of it on Thursday...damn class. If it were summer I would have been in the office that day for it too.

Rome is ah...interesting. He's worth a shot once in awhile. You seem to be a big fan of the show. What the hell is a bumper music? I followed you up until that point.

Rome grew old for me. He usually thinks some of his interviews are much better than they really are. I can take him or leave him but prefer GOOD local programming.

Good local programming is hard to come by. It was a good thing KNR made HUGE strides bringing Rizzo back and bringing in Reghi.

Too many call in shows without a gimmick is a bad thing. Rome is so successful because he has a schtick, he's not Random Sports Guy talking sports. Same with the Really Big Show.

reghi's show is too much babbling. every other word out of the guy's mouth is "uh"

i love him calling games, great voice, great knowledge, but when it comes to sportstalk, it's a little too much complaining. the browns laid an egg and it was just constant whining and bickering from callers. the really big show made fun of it. had fun with the whole situation. we know the browns are bad, we know brady quinn sucks right now, i don't need 3 hours of people calling in to tell me that.

and when i meant the rbs butchering rome, i meant that in a funny way. the show is great. i think the clones may take to their approach.

and i love jay mohr, i think he's hilarious. and i love that the clones bust on him all day.

rome's show has kinda fallen off what it used to be. too many calls from coaches, athletes, etc...

that is the one thing i hate about talk radio, is bringing on an athelete or coach so we can get the same guarded cliches over and over. with the exception of bernie, i think he does a very good job of telling you exactly how it is, without coming off as bitter.

for anyone who doesn't know about rome, they should get on youtube and look up some of his old clips, there are some absolute classics.

Roda gets a lot of unfair hate because of being a Steeler fan.

From a strictly broadcasting perspective he does a great job. Even tho I admit the Steeler thing gets under my skin a bit.

I haven't listened to Rome in a while (because I have had Sirius for about 4 years). However, one of the rants by Rome that had me in absolute stitches....like pull over the car laughing....was the ManRam rant when Manny, an outfielder, made a diving catch to snap the cutoff throw into the infield. The CF grabbed the ball near the wall, and was throwing it into the cutoff man as a guy was rounding for home. Manny comes out of nowhere and dives to snag the ball.

If anyone can find it, I would love to hear it again.

Is he from Pitt? I never have a beef with Steelers fans from Pennsylvania, its bangwagon ohio fans that have no connection to the area or team and are just "fans" because they win alot. Those are also the people that know 5 players on the team, and have 17 inch mullets, seem to enjoy Keystone Light, Trailer Parks, and Confederate Flags....never understood it.

roda is from pittsburgh, i believe he came to cleveland to go to school and got with knr soon after...

he's very objective when it comes to the his steeler roots, but every once in a while it comes out, like when he said the browns would be stupid not to sign larry foote, because he played for a championship team, and because he was better than dqwell jackson.

he's definitely best suited when talking about basketball, he seems to know more about it than any of the other sports.

but at times, his show can get really boring. it's not as much bickering and whining as reghi's show, but it can get close.

My son is friends with Roda's kid and I'm 99.9% sure they are PA natives (maybe even Pittsurgh-area - IIRC). He's no bandwagon fan as far as I know. I don't listen to alot of local sports talk radio, but the few times I've heard his show, it seems to me that Roda goes out of his way to be even-handed when talking about the Browns (outside of any good-natured smack around a Browns-Steelers game, that is). Let's face it... saying the Browns suck doesn't really qualify as smack these days.

I've met Kenny a few times (as coaches on rival summer baseball teams) and he seems like a real stand-up guy to me. When my son was in the hospital over an extended period of time a few years ago, he somehow managed to get a Browns pennant signed by Paul Warfield and a few current players at the time and his kid brought it with him when he visited. I'll never forget it.

yeah hes from Pittsburgh. The thing that irks me is why is he not a Pirates fan or a Pitt Panther fan? Oh maybe because when he was coming up the Tribe waas good, and The buckeyes are what they are. Yeah he sure jumped on those bandwagons because his Pittsburgh alternatives were terrible.

So you prefer Miley Cyrus to G'n'R and The Stooges?

I love listening to the Really Big Show because they all seem to have pretty dry senses of humor and aren't afraid to lay into our pathetic sports teams. Starting to warm up to Rome but thats only because I listen to it for about a half-hour a day on my way to work. Hate listening to Reghi's show. Don't listen to Roda.

It's not that I LIKE the music but the bumper music is part of the show.

I haven't mentioned this yet but I need to: Chris Fedor does a lot to keep Reghi and Roda's shows fresh and hip.

Bump...

Don't know if anyone else was listening today to WKNR, but there was some really powerful talk going on...

Rizzo's, I don't know what you would call her - intern? - Sabrina apparently was outside the club Sunday night where Braylon's incident occurred and felt the need to tell her side of the story on air. She also talked about a conversation she had had inside with Braylon and she basically just trashed the man. Could what she said have been true? I guess...who knows. But it seemed innappropriate at best to me to be airing this laundry on air. The fact that Rizzo and the powers that be let it happen are puzzling to me. Goldhammer at the end of the show even said he wouldn't have done what she did today on air.

Then this afternoon Reghi (sp) ripped her up and down for what she aired, saying she had no credibility to do so. I agree. From what I understand, she's a broadcasting student who's sole connection to the Browns has been dating Brandon McDonald. In doing so, I'm sure she's made some relationships with current and former Browns but she really spoke out of line today.

As a student, she may have learned a valuable lesson today - that "no names please" thing Riz does goes a long way in the business.

Should make for interesting radio tomorrow morning.

She's supposed to be on the show shortly to respond to what Reghi had to say yesterday. I'm sure it will be very enlightening

She's trashed other players on the show before. Eric Wright comes to mind.

And yet, for whatever reason I love listening to this show even though I don't particularly care for anyone one it except maybe Josh Sabo. Maybe its just so I can listen to Rizzo yell at Aaron.
