Quinn doesn't deserve his own thread any longer.

I'm all in favor of a better RT thread any day!

Please. He has the measurables, and is a very physical safety, but he has not looked good at all in coverage this year. Saying he is better than the two best safeties in the league ( when Taylor was alive) is an absolute joke.

A safety like Ed Reed is a luxury..OL is a priority! And it's debatable that Reed is the best Safety in the league..Polomalu or however you spell his name deserves to be in that argument..

Eric Berry... best safety in next years class... hands down.

We have holes everywhere though!!!!

There is Williams and Okung to put in the tackle spot in next years draft.

However, if we have the #1 pick in the draft... do we trade back and get a RT or do we just go ahead and scratch this whole thing and pick Sam Bradford?

When Quinn has time.... he still looks bad. DA can throw the ball a country mile but throws it 5 yards away from the receivers in all directions.

Its going to get interesting.... We might lose Braylon after this season. Even if we tag him, we still might trade him... then we have to pick a WR in the draft again at some point.

No to Bradford..if Quinn isn't the long terms answer build the OL and get a stud RB and then draft a QB..gotta build the OL first!! It's insane to keep making the same mistakes..do it right..build the line..We got 2 out of 5 so far..the next two draft should land us the 3 starters we need!!

Joe Thomas set the bar high for rookie lineman to come into Cleveland and play like a pro...

Mangold had problems his first year... I expect the same for Mack...

we need another 1st round pick.. lol.. any suggestions?

Oh c'mon, snapping the freakin' ball to the QB is the easiest thing a center does. It's not like he didn't learn that skill in his four years in college. Sheesh, if he's not got it by now...

Eric Berry is the next Ed Reed....and the best safety in next years draft.

and that is coming from a Taylor Mays Pimp.

Taylor Mays has the ability to be Sean Taylor "like" but he is not there yet.

matter of fact...Mays might not be even #2 as of right now today.

I agree....and I was all for drafting Taylor Mays #5 last year if he had come out.

Berry is on a different playing field from everyone else in college this year...sorta like Crabtree last year...no, on the field.

before the draft we had Sean Jones signed away from us by the Eagles and Abram Elam's offer was matched by the Jets.

you build a team through the middle and we only had Pool and Adams at S with Pool having an injury history....so, yeah, I would have loved Mays. I like the trade-down that netted us Elam, Coleman and Mack (along with Ratliff and a couple bonus 6th rounders) much better though.

it completely depends on what happens between now and then....

if Pool suffers another concussion
or
if we sign a RT and/or OLB in FA who can start and do well

then, why not Safety? you build through the middle and having a guy like Polamalu, Reed, Kerry Rhodes, Bob Sanders or Sean Taylor can completely change your defense.

now, if we have the exact same holes that we have today....I'd definitely lean towards RT or OLB (assuming about equal talent between players)

True..I guess I don't forsee any Free Agent RT's being of the quality of one we could draft..I'm not really too concerned about our Defense..they look great until they wear down..we need an offense that can score points and win the time of possession battle..

I would like to know why we havent at least looked at Levi Jones or gone out and gotten James Lee off of the Bucs practice squad. He was with the Browns last season in camp and looked impressive. If anything he can add some sorely need athleticism on the line.

Since this has become a draft thread (I love those), I'll post my thoughts. I'm just gonna go over positions I feel are legitimate possibilities, or I can't not talk about a guy.

QB: Bradford is the guy IMO. He has incredible accuracy and smarts with an above average arm. Jevan Snead is a dark horse candidate.

RB: Jonathan Dwyer looks to be this year's top guy. He's around 6'0" 235 and runs a 4.4. He is a junior this year, but dominated at Georgia Tech last season, and will most likely go pro.

WR: Dez Bryant of Oklahoma State and Arrelious Benn of Illinois lead the class. Both are similar to Crabtree's level. Bryant is 6'2" 220 and catches everything in sight. Benn is the same size, but has a better timed speed. Most consider Bryant the better player.

TE: Jermaine Gresham and Rob Gronkowski lead the class. Both are very good receivers, but with Gresham out for the season, he could end up dropping to the second, or even later. Gronkowski is currently being projected as late 1st-early 2nd.

OT: Most people are looking at Trent Williams as the top guy, but he is only a junior. He goes about 6'5" 320 and is basically a beast. He was better than Loadholt and Duke for Oklahoma last year. Russell Okung of Oklahoma State is smaller at 6'5" 305, but is fighting for the number one spot with Williams. He probably isn't as much of a fit on the right side.

DT/DE: Amazing class here. Gerald McCoy of Oklahoma leads it. He's a 6'4" 295 Junior and would've almost certainly been a top 10 pick last year if he had left after his Sophomore-Redshirt season. He would be a beastly end. Ndamukong Suh is a 6'4" 305 Senior from Nebraska. Suh can play any line position in a 3-4 despite his small size for a nose. He'd probably be better at end though. Arthur Jones of Syracuse is about the same size as those two, and is a great fit for a 3-4 end. And then there's the best end in the country (who I almost forgot). Carlos Dunlap is a 6'7" 295 pound end for Florida who reportedly runs a 4.5. Yeah, it's obvious why he's being compared to Super Mario. He is a straight up stud, but not quite at Mario's caliber, because no one is. I haven't seen enough of him to tell how good of a fit for the 3-4 he is, but he certainly has the size. Those guys are the headliners, and all are better prospects than B.J. Raji was, but there are many other guys who are great second round talents.

Nose: Terrence Cody is really the only guy here. He is huge at 6'5" 365 and can do a 360 dunk. He isn't very quick, and is awful pass rushing, but he stuffs the run as well as anyone. He is mostly a two down player, and has had problems staying in shape.

DE/OLB: Sergio Kindle of Texas looks to be the best here. He started at end opposite of Orakpo last year and got like 10 sacks, but was moved to linebacker this year. He clearly has the pass rushing ability, and has enough coverage skills to be playing linebacker right now. He's the perfect fit for a 3-4. Greg Hardy of Ole Miss is 6'5" 275 with 4.6 speed. He is a great pass rusher and athlete, but has injury problems.

ILB: Florida's Brandon Spikes is the headliner here. He isn't particularly fast, but he has good size, great instincts, and awesome intangibles. He is starting to drop in rankings though, and could fall to the second.

S: Eric Berry is without a doubt the best safety, and draft prospect. No one else comes close. He was recruited as a cornerback, and started his Freshman season there, but was moved to strong safety so he could be more of a play maker. He has coverage skills reminiscent of Ed Reed's, but is more physical and aggressive. Taylor Mays is the best athlete at safety to come out since Sean Taylor. He is 6'3" 230 and rumored to run a 4.2 (USC speed, of course). He is great against the run, and is a very hard hitter, but hasn't made many plays at Southern California. Part of this is because USC runs a very deep zone, and his primary responsibility is to stop the big play, but one has to question his instincts and how good of a football player he really is.

I didn't include guard because not much is known about them yet. And I don't think corners, center, and fullback should be talked about by us.

Jermaine Gresham and Rob Gronkowski lead the class.

Both these guys are out for the season.

Assuming we are in the top 3 I would draft:
1) Sam Bradford
2) Eric Berry
3) Taylor Mays

There are some good free agents next year atm. Shawn Merrimen (anybody who chokes Tila should get a high five), DeMarcus Ware are FAs. Ware will never hit FA but Merrimen might. Some big OL are set to be FAs also. Marcus McNeil, Daryn Colledge.

Other OL:
Other Notable Free Agents:

Eugene Amano, Tennessee Titans (27)
David Baas, San Francisco 49ers (27)
Khalif Barnes, Oakland Raiders (27)
Alex Barron, St. Louis Rams (26)
Jeromey Clary, San Diego Chargers (25) – Restricted FA
Ryan Cook, Minnesota Vikings (26)

I mentioned that Greshamn was hurt, but forgot to for Gronkowski. I don't think it will matter much, at least for Gresham. Gronkowski probably won't leave early though.

Keep an eye on free agency. I should have a lot of information out about that in a few months.

I love Berry and Mays...but I am not a fan of drafting a Safety in the top 10..let alone top 3.....I might take Berry top 3.....but I would not take Mays in that spot.....I think Mays probably goes mid teens at best......Troy Polamalu went at 16...Ed Reed went at 24.

QB, DE (Bradford, Sneed, Dunlap, Suh....I will even include Berry...he is that good.)....one of them would be my pick for the Browns if its top 3....but after watching Mangini trade down again and again....I would guess even if it was a top 3.....it would not be where the pick actually happened.

QB and S..farthest from our biggest needs..if the draft were today my top 3 players would be OT Williams, DE McCoy, DT Cody..in that order..and since we would have the first pick..our OL just got better with the addition of Williams..

But I agree I miss that bum Shaffer..but I miss Tucker the most!
