AbbA and The Hollies did some good stuff. I still play Long Cool Woman,...

The others ? I don't think so,....

KISS should have been in when the dang thing opened. I'm tired of it, but understand if indeed they're not playing ball too. It is what it is. The place will never get another dime from me.

They DO have a great selection of CD's there,....

Besides ABBA, the Rock Hall's internationally flavored Class of 2010 includes the proto-punk Stooges from Ann Arbor, Mich., Jamaican reggae star Jimmy Cliff and a pair of British exports, the pop-rocking Hollies and prog-rocking Genesis.

I'm no Kiss fan at all, in fact I can't stand Kiss but you know there's something seriously wrong with the selection process when a "reggae star" gets in over an actual rock and roll band.

Well, Bob Marley made it in back in 1994. I don't really have a problem with a reggae musician getting in the rockhall, it's better than another rapper making it.

Im thinking they were waiting to put Kiss in for publicity down the road.

Genesis- anything that has to do with Phil Collins belongs in the HOF.

Chilli Peppers

Genesis........"Seconds Out".......one of the best ever. Many stoner days and nights with that one. As far as KISS ? Some good party songs......but nothing classic. Should they be in? No doubt.kind of defines the times. Didn't go for their music, but went for the show.....that excessive, over-the-top show defined them and the era.
My high school years were *party-hardy*.......and they helped. Not a big fan, but some songs were good to listen to on the way to play a Friday night football game ! Got you a lil pumped up........

At least the thread title is STILL accurate after all this time.

But in all seriousness, they have to SPREAD IT OUT.

The Ventures and The Dave Clark Five didn't get in til LAST YEAR. The Ronettes, the year before. BLACK friggin' SABBATH, not til 2006.

KISS is getting in. They need a good blend of oldies and the more modern qualifiers for a bigger audience that actually gives a crap.

I love KISS, but I want to see Grand Funk Railroad there. I would go out of my way to see that induction ceremony.

What an absolute joke that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is.

No question about it. Least they could do would be to change the name of the place.

It'll always be a joke as long as they have the ceremonies in New York.

It would be very interesting to see if Mark, Don, and Mel could stand on the same platform and tolorate one another. Mark left on bad terms while the other two are still touring as GFR. Just not the same, obviously.

I wouldn't go unless all three were there, and if it IS in New York (as mentioned above), then I probably won't be there. Be nice if Craig Frost was included too.

Maybe Kiss was left off for so many years because their music just isn't that good.

Kiss and AC/DC are the two bands that get on my nerves more than any other. Except maybe Sublime.

Ugh. That's a turd parade right there.

They won't. I know better than that. Would be nice, though. It's hard enough getting a southern rock band in the rockhall, only Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers made the cut. If Molly Hatchet had any chance, they are known for saving southern rock in general after the Skynyrd tragedy. Blackfoot as well.

Like I said, BTO, The Guess Who, and Grand Funk Railroad would be my top three choices.

Hey Molly, how you doing?? Haven't seen you in a while.

You are right....southern rock doesn't get much love....but it gets a lot of play in this house.

38 Special is (was) top notch. Chain Lightning and Fantasy Girl are two of my faves by them. Southern Rock deserves a wing at the Rock Hall ... some of them ranged more towards Blues, like Allman Bros and Skynrd and some others went more towards Country and Blue Grass, like Marshall Tucker Band and even the Eagles in their early years. All great music.
I laugh every time I hear Marshall Tucker Band's "Heard It In A Love Song" because for years I would sing along with it, when I heard it, as "Purty Little Love Song" ... dumbass that I am.

Some funny misheard lyrics here:

http://www.kissthisguy.com/index.php

A couple examples:

Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love"
Mices wear faces, you're addicted to love.

REM's "Losing My Religion"
Let's pee in the corner; let's pee in the spotlight ...

I know what I'll be looking at during down time tomorrow at work ... when I'm not here, I mean ...

Doin' fine, thanks. Hope you're OK as well. I haven't been around due to the fact there are a lot of Steelers fans who call this website home. Last time I checked it was a Browns board.

I listen to my fair share of southern rock, like of course Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot (with Rick Medlocke. The new version of the band sucks, and I'm being nice.), Lynyrd Skynyrd (the Ronnie Van Zant years. Johnny Van Zant never impressed me as a singer.) The Outlaws, and the Allman Brothers. I used to like Black Oak Arkansas as a teenager but now I can only take them in small doses. Jim Mangrum's singing(?) just slowly got on my nerves over the years. They are an acquired taste.

The fact that Kiss has been ignored by the RRHOF has renderd it as what a joke as far as Rock & Roll is concerned. Just this year after 36 years and being a so called old band they seem to sell out all over the world. As witnessed in the 35 Alive Tour.

I just received the DVD of the Alive 35 Tour from Buenos Aires, Argentina and the crowd was as extatic as it was 30 years ago. Japan, Canada, South America, Mexico and Australia to name a few know what America seems to ignore that KISS is the greatest live band on the face of the earth.

They have more gold albums than any american act but yet the hall wants to ignore that fact.

If you have ever seen a live rock show in your life and you have not seen KISS you are missing the greatest show on earth as witnessed by millions around the world.

You can judge bands by their musical talent but your eyes can tell you that a band an sell out arenas around the world after 35 years deserves the utmost respect that is not given to them for some strange reason.

I say F the Rock & Roll HOF!

Just wait till next season, I have heard that for over 40 years!
