This IMO is also a big problem.

Watching it on TV I don't always get a good feel for how they're doing. Except: the underneath routes were there for Balt. all afternoon, and some of those guys were open by 5-10 yards - not just once or twice, but several times. Can they not at least provide decent coverage????

DQ is alright, but not a guy who can lead an LB corps. At one point, instead of attacking the ballcarrier, he waited in his tracks about four yards away from the back, until the RB made a move.... can you imagine Ray Lewis or LT doing that instead of attacking the guy with the ball?
I certainly can't.

I say if Veikune/Maiava can't get on the field much, at best they're roster-fillers and not worthy of where they were picked (moreso Veikune obviously cuz he was a 2nd-rounder).
The guys playing now are terrible, Wimbley is OK, D'Qwell is OK, but the rest... ugggghh... these guys suck.

DQ is average, Wimbley has improved, the rest, as you said, are garbage.

Barton looks quite awful. Actually makes me miss Andra Davis. Why not start the rooks, they cannot be any worse!

we need to be starting any and all rooks to see what they can do. we obviously aren't contending, so why not see who's worth a sh@t

Yup...anyone known not to be in the 2010 plans should make way for the youngsters.

Our inside LBs cannot take on a guard, throw him away and then make a tackle. When they do, its usually 5 yards down the field. OR what normally happens, our inside LBs are under the guard and RB is running down the field.

DQ is an average NFL player
Wimbley is finally a below NFL player
Barton is just what I expected when we acquired him...he's GOD AWFUL
Our rookies (especially Veikune) appear to be HUGE busts

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Biggest reason our 3-4 has stunk it up...no linebackers. DQ is good, the rest are junk. Barton gets shoved around, Bowens is just awful. Wimbley has 2 good plays a game.

None of them get pressure consistently....either get some 34 OLB's...or go back to the 43.

I just deleted a very rude reply to you; thought instead I'd ask you to be more specific in regards to which posts are "beyond idiotic".
So go ahead.

Well I've done neither... I just want to see Veikune/Maiava get time on the field because most of the other guys blow.

Andra Davis, Kevin Shaffer and Dennis Northcutt have been popular whipping boys around here and the browns official website.

Davis > Barton
Shaffer> St. Clair
Dropcutt > than anyone not named Edwards

This is a dark day in Browns' history. We may be worse than Timmy and Co.

ahhh, fustration coming to a head.

some of us saw that we weren't going to be good this year. It's rebuilding again folks, and if you think that the draft makes much more sense. I can't lay all the blame on the coaches/GM they didn't exactly start with a full pantry. Give the guy a couple of years before you call for his head.

We're trying to throw the ball downfield and he checked the ball down to Trent Richardson and the Indians on the choice.

Does it concern you that the high draft picks outside of Mack aren't playing much?

Robiskie being inactive the past two weeks is incomprehensible to me.

I think that is just them letting Cribbs prove he's more then a ST guy.

You just watch--it was all part of Mangini's plan. He is gonna bench Quinn this week, and activate Robo for next week.

From there it will be 07 all over again----we will beat Cincy like 52-48 and then be one of the most potent offensive attacks in the league as we March our way within one game of the playoffs..............and then we will lose and wait until next year.

You have to admit, there is a lot of...well, eerie similarities to the games.

Ravens = Steelers
Bengals up next
Brady Quinn looking like Charlie Frye
Derek Anderson taking over.

Also similar: The Browns had A new set of coaches (well, most of them where new =-) ) and a head coach under fire all with nothing to lose.

I doubt it'd happen, I really doubt it. I'm unsure I'll even watch next week.

Reallly don't know how you can call the draft picks busts considering the coaches don't let them see the field at all.

I think that might be the point.. it's not like we're the Patriots and our 2nd and 3rd round picks aren't good enough to get on the field.. we are the worst team in the NFL and our 2nd and 3rd round picks STILL can't get on the field.. if that's because the guys in front of them are BETTER... then maybe he has a point.. but I'm still giving them a couple years to prove themselves.

All I know is I was pissed on draft day when we passed up Rey Maualuga with our first second round pick. Watching him contribute on an improved Bengals defense while Robiskie is listed inactive leaves a VERY BAD taste in my mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

considering the absolute dearth of talent at LB this team has .... along with the fact that our best player would be a monster in the 4-3 .... and we have a DE experienced in the 4-3 ..... I would almost think a move to the 4-3 might not be the world's worst idea. Sure we don't have the LBs ..... but at least then we'd only need 3.

The problem with the LB's has always been several things and it's coming to the light again..we have no playmaker on that unit..I can't say Viekune/Mava are busts ..they in all fairness might just be complimentary players which is what I suspect..we have not gotten a hammer to play on the inside or a QB harasser at all...yet the Browns have had chances every year and failed..
Same goes this year..several 34 LB's and tweeners were available..it comes down to evaluation and choices people..I do know one thing..if I , and I'm not a professional scout can see the talent..the Browns scouts do too..but it all depends on their draft board and whether everyone is on the same page..
We now see how divided the FO/scouts/coaches were when Phil was drafting...that bugs me a lot..

The problem that I have always had was that this team has never really drafted or gotten a FA that was a specific fit for a 3-4. Nor have you EVER heard anyone describe our LBs as physical. Everytime you see our LBs, they are getting single blocked by a guard and not being able to chuck that guard away!!. That is why we have problems with the run, and why we really cannot blitz via the middle!!

Once again it's evaluation..when they are scouting players you look at players who make plays..same thing with FA'S..LOOK for guys who fit and are distruptive..
