I think the idea to trade BE has a lot of merit.
Those who want to keep him talk about him as if he is a true, consistent threat...well...maybe he CAN be...but he HASN'T been. Simple as that.
His route running can be atrocious...he is not into it mentally as evidenced by his stupid penalties...his hands are very questionable...he DOES NOT fight for the ball.
Look...I'd like to think it'd be nuts to trade BE...I wish that were true. He is not making much of a difference this year.
But...I don't care if he is our only threat (using the word "threat" very loosely here)...if the right trade came along I'd be all over that.
Right trade at this point...a 2nd or maybe a 3rd and 5th...something along those lines.

You guys are (something that if I say, i'll get banned), you don't trade your ONLY playmaker on your football team. The guy isnt dropping passes, hes the only guy that gets any attention whatsoever on this offense. It just shows, that no matter what he ever does, a bunch of yahoo's will always want him gone. He run blocks, he demands a safety over the top, hes a beast in the redzone. Your absolutely crazy to want to trade him. I can't think of a stupider move than trading Braylon Edwards....I just hope that we re-sign the guy after this season. Again this begs the question, do half the people that post on here watch football? Unbelievable thread.

i understand things are bad but don't you think this would be a rash move based on emotion and not on logic? let's just see how he responds the next few weeks.

Rogers...Cribbs...Dawson....Zastudil...Pontbriand....Thomas...THOSE Guys are our "playmakers". BTW, the Cowboy fans thought the same thing when they traded Walker.
Look...BE has not produced like a #1 WR. Sure...he CAN be a playmaker...but he'd have to actually make plays consistently before I'll think we just can't do without him.
If BE play-made to his potential, this argument would be stupid. He does not...he has not. Simple as that.
There are very few players on this team that I would not trade. BE does not make that list.

you find us a team that will pay us a Herschel Walker or Ricky Williams type robbery trade for #17....and it will be the first time that everyone on this board agrees that the Browns made a good move.

I see no difference between the Lions getting rid of Roy Williams, and us getting rid of Braylon Edwards.. both have nice size.. but are not consistent..
Bad teams need consistency..
Man.. we've been asking that for years..

What's the point of getting draft picks if they're going to get us another veikune and maiava?

Blame me for not watching enough college football (don't ask my wife about that,....), but I had never heard of either of those guys before draft day,... They do have talent,...and will probably end up fitting nicely into the easy recliner of Special Teams play. We have GOT to get our "Peppers-Kearse-Polamalu-Reed-Lewis" type of enforcing defender. Neither of those 2 kids is "it."

You've hit rock bottom when your long snapper is one of your few playmakers. And your punter is one of the few others.

I watch college football every saturday and I NEVER heard of Veikune until we drafted him. Hell, ESPN didn't even have footage of his highlights I believe. Maiva is the "least known USC LB" but he was still solid. I think he was a Rose Bowl MVP.

Exactly! Notice the ommission of BE...he is tradeable.
And like Turk said above...bad teams need consistency...and BE is the opposite of consistent

the difference is that the Lions had Calvin Johnson still after trading Roy.....and they got a 1st and 3rd for Roy.....if the Giants or Eagles ponied up a 1st and 3rd for BE, I think he'd be in the NFC East now.

hotbyoungturk,
Call into Moving the Chains on Sirius NFL Radio and tell them your idea, and why you should be GM of the Browns.
I'll be listening to, hopefully a few other posters, and we can hear what NFL people think of your ideas....Maybe you'll get a gig because they are so impressed with your football smarts.

I'll tell you what, you look at BE's interview on the site and it's clear this guy's playng for a paycheck.
He's that dude in the Budwiser commercials. Dead ringer. I'm close to hating that kid.

Braylon can be a threat, but only when he wants to be or when we have another WR that takes the attention off him, Cribbs is a great return man but not a WR. Until they get the young guys in to establish thenselves, we have nothing

I'm happy to be alive, I'm happy to have a job, I'm happy to have a loving wife and two cats....
Am I happy with my football team?.....that's another question. But the fact that we are only happy about our football team is in the offseason should tell someone all they need to know

In braylon's case I think it's a good thing. Could you imagine what his morale would be like if he were heavily emotionally invested in the team? He hasn't publicly demanded a trade because it's bad for Braylon Edwards, Inc. That's fine by me. We're not losing because of Braylon.

Relax, Turk. That was directed at reddog's comments about "hating" Braylon for treating the situation like a paycheck. Heck, I don't even care anymore.
How many people here can sympathize with having an unqualified boss that makes bad decisions and frustrated with their co-workers' ineptitude? At that point, you say "it's just a job and I'm lucky to have one."

There is a huge differance, they had Calvin Johnson. If The Browns had another playmaker on offense like Calvin Johnson locked up for a few more years, I would consider it.

So now you're idealistic if you want the players on your team to have just a little bit of passion for the team and the game?
This is Cleveland, for christ sake. If ever there was an indication that we fans are falling off of the "top fans" list this is it.
No, I don't like a player that just comes to work to collect a check. Yes, I will develop a dislike for a player on my team that openly carries himself as a guy who could care less. And yes, I'm shocked that I seem to be in the minority here.
What has happened to this town?

With our luck he will go to the Ravens and become an elite receiver.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

with DA starting.. I like Braylon a little more.. but didn't Anderson admit that none of the WR's could get open? including Braylon?
o well.. it is what it is...
I just want to win!!
If we can't get atleast a 2nd round pick for Braylon and/or more... We might as well keep him..

Trying to figure out exactly where this came from but let me get this straight..... You want to trade a guy who accounts for 40% of our receiving yards, on an already inept offense, because a QB threw a ball 5 yards behind him and a Ravens DB picked it off? and by your estimation, he didn't make some sort of effort to break it up? Go sprint 20 yards away from me, I'll throw a pass 5 yards behind you and we'll see how close you can come to making a play on it. Maybe you failed to notice that the only pass plays that were open against Baltimore were running Braylon over the top / deep middle or running Furrey underneath Braylon's route. You think this offense is miserable now, trade away the only offensive threat we have and see what happens. I'm all for trading BE if he's dropping passes and bumpin' his gums but he's one of the few good players we have right now (and he has yet to do either of those things this season). There's plenty of other guys that deserve a thread like this but BE isn't really one of them. He's caught the ball when given the opportunity....which unfortunately hasn't been often.

If you think things are bad now with our WR's. Trading Edwards would be the stupidest thing to do right now. Especially since our 2 WR's that we drafted don't play.
