My answer: no.
I've got nothing against Garcia. I just don't see him helping this team. I'm in the "give Quinn a lot more games this season" camp, not because I'm a big Quinn fan, but because I'm still not sold on what we have (or don't have) in him.
It's become clear to me that this season is simply a "let's see what we have for 2010" season. So, let's actually do that.

I would pick him up in a quick second and try to trade DA or BQ to the Dolphins...whichever one they want the most.

Just a question, why do a lot of you believe that a new QB will magically solve all of your problems?

was gonna post this.
he's my compromise qb. a new person that everyone can get behind instead of the constant quinn vs da crap.
that said, i doubt he'd want to come here after his last stint. then again, if no one is offering him a chance to start...

It won't solve them all.
But it will solve some significant ones.

Nobody wants either of our QB's...as for Garcia, he probably a better bet than anything we currently have. Experienced in the WCO, which I guess is what Daboll is attempting to run.

Why on earth would the Dolphins want one of them? They have Chad Henne.
I see no point in getting him right now.

I for one do not think that.
I want DA or BQ gone and a veteran as #1 or #1A...if we could get a 2nd or 3rd for DA or BQ I'd jump all over that...especially if we have a vet backup.
The madness has to stop and apparently neither are very good at this point. I'd prefer to keep BQ, but if the Dolphins made the right offer...I'd be on it.

Trade one of them to the Colts. I mean, Jim Sorgi is just plain awful. Maybe they see Quinn as an heir apparent for Manning. And maybe I'll find a leprechaun tomorrow morning who will give me a unicorn for my birthday.

Because it's always the QB's fault. How else do you explain the fact that your team has won with Rothlisberger, Tommy Maddox, Kordell Stewart, Niel O'Donnell

no! Been there done that..our offense doesn't fit him..it doesn't fit anyone but it certainly doesn't fit a roll out passer.

The Dolphins may want one of them BECAUSE they have Chad Henne. At this point for the Fish, a DA or BQ for a second or third might seem appealing.
They are not a baaaaad team and need a QB for the "future". Maybe they think Henne is that guy...if they think THAT then maybe we can trade them DA or BQ for all of next year's draft...they just might think that too.

Ahh, Jeff Garcia... been watching him since he played in the CFL, and he's the best QB we've had since Bernie. Butch Davis BOTCHED that one, too.... tried to turn him into a drop-back passer - even Robiskie said so, more or less. It's amazing how frigging stupid an NFL head coach can be.
Not a strong arm but a quick release and accurate passer, VERY smart, quick feet, a GAMER... wish we'd had him in his prime.

Do you think Thigpen starts or becomes the backup?

Henne will start. Like he said, the Dolphins love Henne. He has all the tools to be an excellent QB in this league. He may or may not develop, but they are going to give him his time to prove one or the other.

If we're gonna be bad we might as well play Quinn the whole season and see if he improves.
There is no point in playing a 39 year old QB if you are gonna be bad.

Should we bring him in and give him a chance to start.
The truth is that neither of our current QB's have demonstrated anything to make us believe that they are the answer. At that point ANY team should look for help. Garcia is the best FA out there and has a long track record of success.
And at this point - How could it hurt? I'd rather see JG out there Sunday over either BQ or Captain Interception.

Very True. I say though, if we are 0-10 coming into our 11th game, sign and start Garcia to see how many (hopefully 2, that would be a miracle with this team right now) games he can win in 6 starts against the Chargers and Steelers both at home, then on the road in Kansas City (an equally as terrible team we need to beat), and finished up at home against the Jags and the Raiders. Winnable games but we are awful.
We are picking top 3 next year. Fact.

Garcia would help us win a game, but he wouldn't help answer the questions surrounding Anderson or Quinn.
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***

If DA and BQ are not the answer...a serviceable veteran QB - regardless of age IF he can play - delays the requirement to pick a QB in the first round. We have many holes to fill...if we can hold off on the QB hole and use Day 1 picks wisely ( )...the next QB to come to town might actually have a chance. It would not be a choice to "replace" DA or BQ as much as it would be to hold down the position until we get better all-around.

What makes anybody think he would actually want to play here? This season is lost and we should be doing whatever we can to prepare for 2010. There is a difference between our 0-3 record and the Titans 0-3 record. The Titans may be a player away from fixing things and making something out of this season. The Browns are many players away.

Kurt Warner didn't help answer a lot of questions about Leinhart - but he took them to the playoffs and got em the wins.

I've got my answers for those two!
Get Garcia or somebody, build the team then find your man! Enough of this QB craziness!

I don't see the point of bringing in Garcia. We have way too many holes to fill, not just the QB position. He would only be a band-aid solution.. he's too old to be in the Browns' future, so it's not like we can build the team around him. Maybe he would win us a few games this year, but so what - we will still have a dismal record. So we go 4-12 instead of 1-15 and we drop lower in the draft.
Quinn needs to play out the season - let's see what he's got over an extended period of time and finally get some closure on him.

I'm in favor of changing the subject entirely. That can wait for several more weeks.
It looks like DA is the man. It may be great, it may be terrible, but it won't be boring. At least our receivers will get to run farther before they drop the ball.
Depending on the chaos surrounding the team this year, we might be able to pick up a journeyman quarterback for next year while we build our offensive line through the draft. Is there any chance Fraley can last one more season at guard?

No problem! Remember you don't have to actually play well to be a Brown. The Lerners waived that requirement in 1999.
