So, Beck has views that don't jibe with the white house....that makes him a nut case? Or, does the white house not like him because he calls them out, and often times proves himself right?
Why is Beck becoming so big recently? Is it because America is starting to see what he says, and likes it? Or is it because he's a nut?
Honestly, anyone that's read this board for a week or more probably has a clue about my opinion - why do you think Beck is a nut?
Quote: LOL,, Beck is a piece of work. If you believe everything that comes out of his mouth, then I got some guys on MSNBC you might believe also....LOL
I never said I believed everything that came out of his mouth. Thanks for showing your bias right up front.
This is more about the white house, and them snubbing fox news because Beck calls them out on things. More often than not, he's right. Often he is wrong.
He does make people think, though, doesn't he?
If he's a nut, and everything he says is wrong, why is the white house scared of him? I mean, wouldn't the citizens of this country be able to tell he's a nut?
Sure, but I would like to hear more about him calling someone 2 days after a miscarriage and mocking them. Honestly, I know nothing about it. Who? When?

Being Glenn Beck makes Glenn Beck a nutcase. In fact, I'm not sure how anyone can listen to him and think the man is sane.
And this is coming from a pretty staunch Conservative. Glenn Beck is freaking nuts.
His first attempt to get Kelly to mention him on the air came shortly after his arrival. "I walked out to get the paper one Saturday morning," remembers Kelly. "When I turned around, I saw that my entire house was covered in Y95 bumper stickers. The windows, the garage doors, the locks -- everything. But I refused to mention Beck's name on the air, which drove him nuts."
Beck kept trying. When KZZP's music director held his marriage at a Phoenix church, Beck loaded up Y95's two Jeeps with boxes of bumper stickers and drove to the ceremony. As the service was coming to a close, Beck and his team ran crouching from car to car, slapping bumper stickers on anything with a fender. The service ended while Beck was running amok, and the KZZP morning team appeared just in time to see Beck jump into his getaway car. "Beck saw me standing in the way of the exit and gunned right for me. I threw a landscaping rock on his windshield and blocked him," says Kelly. When his old friend demanded he roll down the window, Beck reluctantly obliged. Kelly then unloaded a mouthful of spit in his face.
"Glenn Beck was the king of dirty tricks," says Guy Zapoleon, KZZP's program director. "It may seem mild in retrospect, but at the time that wedding prank was nasty and over the line. Beck was always desperate for ratings and attention."
The animosity between Beck and Kelly continued to deepen. When Beck and Hattrick produced a local version of Orson Welles' "War of the Worlds" for Halloween -- a recurring motif in Beck's life and career -- Kelly told a local reporter that the bit was a stupid rip-off of a syndicated gag. The slight outraged Beck, who got his revenge with what may rank as one of the cruelest bits in the history of morning radio. "A couple days after Kelly's wife, Terry, had a miscarriage, Beck called her live on the air and says, 'We hear you had a miscarriage,' " remembers Brad Miller, a former Y95 DJ and Clear Channel programmer. "When Terry said, 'Yes,' Beck proceeded to joke about how Bruce [Kelly] apparently can't do anything right -- about he can't even have a baby."
"It was low class," says Miller, now president of Open Stream Broadcasting. "There are certain places you just don't go."
"Beck turned Y95 into a guerrilla station," says Kelly. "It was an example of the zoo thing getting out of control. It became just about pissing people off, part of the culture shift that gave us 'Jackass.'" Among those who were appalled by Beck's prank call was Beck's own wife, Claire, who had been friends with Kelly's wife since the two worked together at WPGC.
I see. Yes, that was a nut - an idiot, truthfully.
If I'm not mistaken, it happened in the mid to late 80's. Beck himself has said he was a nutcase - a druggie and an alcoholic. He has said he had it great, then lost it all to drugs and alcohol.
And the fact that he cleaned himself up, worked his way up from the bottom - there's no mention of that from you?
He was an ass. A self admitted ass.
Dude, when it comes to anything on this board, an article from 5 years ago means next to nothing - you know that. An article about someones antics from 22 years ago? Dang, you hold grudges I guess.
Regardless - you don't like his sobbing. I don't either.
When he speaks the truth - apparently the white house doesn't like it - they've snubbed fox news over him. The white house has made it personal now.
As someone else said, when you hit a nerve.......there's a reaction.
I can't and won't excuse his behavior from 1987 - 88. Beck himself doesn't either.
Quote: And the fact that he cleaned himself up, worked his way up from the bottom - there's no mention of that from you?
If you want me to mention it, I am glad he pulled himself together. It's not an easy thing to do.
Quote: An article about someones antics from 22 years ago? Dang, you hold grudges I guess.
Hey, man, I'm all about forgiveness...I happen to think it's man's most valuable asset.
But I also happen to think Beck is a loose cannon and a nut. And I cited that as a reason why.
I also think that his detractors give him too much credit...look no further than this thread. Why the White House would comment on this dude is beyond me...
Quote: When he speaks the truth - apparently the white house doesn't like it - they've snubbed fox news over him. The white house has made it personal now.
I won't agree that he speaks the truth...he does say things that no one else will say...I've said before that every once in a blue moon he'll say something dead-on that no one else will...but his batting average is pretty low.
I will agree that the White House has made very poor judgements in those regards.
I wouldn't call him a nut at all. I'd just call him an entertainer that knows the value of shock style radio/TV for getting ratings.
It's like the famous quote from Howard Stern's 'Private Parts' when talking about his exploding ratings in his early days:
(paraphrased) "The average Stern fan listens for 1.5 hours per day. The average listener that hates Stern listens for 3.5 hours per day. The most common reason cited? 'I want to see what he's gonna say next'. "

I just started watching Glenn on Fox and find him very interesting. Yea sure, he may go overboard (come on, who in the news business doesn't? ) but he does a good job at bring out interesting details backed up with facts. Of coarse certain people are not going to like him, he's a religious man and a conservative. I find him much better then Rush and little better then Hannity (Hannity pushes the envelop too much sometimes).
And with the matter of his past, the very first episode I watched he talked about how he did many things he regrets now and is striving to be a better person. It's amazing how so many people like to focus on the past on people they hate instead of looking at how that person is now (and last I looked, we are human beings who do make mistakes).
And the matter of the White House coming after him, if he was such a nut case then why is the White House responding to stuff he says on his show ( he did correct himself on the Olympic comment today but I'm sure that won't be mentioned in the blog)? Why doesn't Obama come on Fox News and defind himself with facts? O wait, that's right, Fox won't go by a script like the other networks and would actually ask him challenging questions.
"Change ownership of the team, the true change we can believe in." - I made this in 2008
I do, however, get to the homes of 3 to 5 people a day - people from all walks of life - rich, middle class, poor. And I will say, in northwest Ohio anyway, people are listening to Beck. And many are turning away from this white house - based on what I can't say.....but trust me, at least here, many feel they were sold a bill of goods. The "change" hasn't happened.
I think - MY THOUGHTS HERE, that the white house is seeing threads of this also, and consequently, want to denounce Beck and Fox news.
You don't need to believe it. And maybe I'm wrong. I haven't listened to Hannity in my life - I can't say good or bad about him.
Phil, I believe, said Beck bats a low percentage in the "truth" arena. I would disagree. Apparently the white house is scared of him.
Because about 90% of what hes saying is true, the white house doesnt want opposition. Hannity and Beck are a big reason several of Obamas plans have been thwarted.
I respect them because they are some of the few Journalist that went through the educational system that is made up of 3 basic beliefs system. The sciences of Darwins theory's, economics and politics of Karl Marx, and social studies of Frueds theory's.
Yet have their own minds, and actually see the world for what is it, rather than the extremist liberal glasses given in all education from pre-school to graduate universities.
He's not that far in the other extreme either, but that type of exaggeration is what gets him ratings. It won't get you good ratings on a message board.

Lobbyists - who Hannity and Beck take their cues from - are the reasons for Obama's struggles...
...that and his plans aren't very good (then again...that never stopped past presidents.)
Quote: I respect them because they are some of the few Journalists
Hannity and Beck aren't journalists.

Phil, you have your opinions, others have theirs. Your " " comments don't make you look superior here, they make you look, well, like you have nothing to say.
You can't be in the media, or journalist unless your objective(liberal)? It's so funny to hear people crack them, but they're so out of touch, the president and his advisors, make a point to try and disclaim them. Funny, never really heard someone put alot of effort into shutting up a "nutcase" because if thats truly what they are, the opposition isn't gonna give them the time of day.
Quote: You can't be in the media, or journalist unless your objective(liberal)?
Never said that.
Simply pointed out the fact that Hannity and Beck are not journalists.

I agree...which is why I find the White House commenting on them to be baffling.

Don't let it baffle you - just know that the white house is ticked about Beck - again, I know nothing about Hannity - and apparently Beck is portraying them in a manner they don't want to be portrayed in and in a manner they can't "explain" away.
Why does O diss fox news?
Why is our President spending time on late night t.v.?
Why is our President going to Europe to try to get the olympics here in the u.s. - Chicago?
Why does our President keep saying "my plan" when he refers to health care? He has no plan.
Why is it when people call him on those things, the white house fights back? Not with facts - but with statements like "he doesn't know what he's talking about", etc?
Beck openly admits he's not a journalist. Everyone at Faux News is a "Commentator on Life." Well I can commentate too. Glenn Beck is a roody poo candy ass!
For the record: I think Jon Stewart is the best journalist in the U.S. right now. How sad is that?
Notice how it starts off nice, then instantly turns into "glenn you lied"..........not "you lied about the reserved seating", but "you lied about Barbara calling you over.
That's all they had: Beck lied on his show about Barbara calling him over - he went to her.
No comment on the reserved seating thing - Whoopi and Babs don't argue that at all............but it's enough to "... whoopi off"?
Who the hell is whoopi?
Hilarious. Beck was 99% correct - his missed/lied by saying Babs called him over.....big deal. The story is Babs and whoopi got reserved seating on a train that doesn't reserve seats.
Quote: I never said I believed everything that came out of his mouth.
Sorry Arch, I didn't mean it the way it read.. My bad.. I should have said, "if PEOPLE believe Beck.. Instead, I said "if you" and that's not what I meant at all.

I will be the first to say I catch PART of his radio show every day....I drive a lot for work, and I listen when I'm driving - sometimes for 10 minutes at a time, sometimes for 25 minutes or so - then I work for an hour, 2 hours, whatever.
Many times I think "what did he just say?". I don't believe everything, by any stretch.
Quote: All you have to do is listen to 5 minutes of him, Rush, Hannity and O'Reilly to know they're all full of it.
FOX News isn't real news, neither is MSNBC. They're both propaganda.
This comment shows how clueless you are. Hannity and Rush are both the same. Hannity seems to defend just about everything that someone conservative says, no matter how stupid the comment. I can't stand watching Hannity at all.
O'Reilly has his own style (being full of himself). He is somewhat conservative but he does not toe any line. In fact he has defended Obama a great deal. It's not just on the wacky or hateful comments people on the right say.
Fox News is all commentary from 5-11pm. They don't try and passoff these shows as news. O'Reilly and Greta are hosts that do not focus totally on politics and you do have a legitimate exchange of ideas.
I really can't watch Beck for very long. I thought his show was much better when it was on CNN Headline News Channel. He is not some Republican Hack. He is a libertarion that is on the conservative side but he goes after Republicans a lot. It's hard to tell right now because he is so fixated on all the presidents advisers who haven't been vetted.
If you ever have bothered to watch Fox News Channel you would know that all of the 'News" programs are not the oposite of what you see on MSNBC.
MSNBC has actual journalists that are so skewed that it is appalling. Andrea Mitchell is supposedly a respected journalist but is nothing more than a political hack.
I loved to watch Britt Hume. He was a serious journalist and ran his program as such. Shepard Smith is also a pretty fair journalist.
The whole station gets blasted as nothing more than a mouthpiece for the Republican Party.
I think there are probably more Libertarians in their on air rank personalities as all of the other channels combined. I think people get them confused with Republicans because of how the majority of them do not agree with the Democrats on financial policies and perceived social engineering.
This past election was quite entertaining to me. I watched Jules get ripped for being a Republican.
Quote: At least Olbermann and Maddow are funny and not fear mongerers, even if I don't agree with all their views.
Give me a break. Where were you for the past eight years or so.
I catch his TV show from time to time,, I keep trying to find some redeeming factor associated with him.. I'm still looking
I don't listen enough to be able to put a percentage of times he hits the nail on the head, but given the antics I have seen, I can't help but feel as if he's a baffoon.. More entertainment then value reporting.
So, the question is, why is the White House even rebutting anything this guys says..
In the absence of others calling him on his mistatements, I guess they felt someone needed to.
All in all, if I'm running the White House Press Room, I'm not giving him the time of day except to say, that he has his facts wrong. Let the regular press do thier job to expose him.
To me, he's a guy that just loves to get attention and he gets it anyway he can.. Just like the following:
Rush Limbaugh Rachel Maddow Keith Oberman Bill O'rielly
Not one of these people get things 100% correct.. Not without a slant leaning the towards thier own personal beliefs. You really can't take anything any of them say without first taking a grain of salt...
So, when Beck or (insert nimrod name here) talks, go ahead and listen if you all want, but don't expect what you hear to be factual.... It's just not going to happen.
Do expect it to be misleading, of that I am sure.
