Ok. Totally off any kind of relevant subject. For any metal fans out there, you know that there are two things that make a metal song really go. Guitar solos and the vocals. so...

No such thing as "the best"...
... but where is Bruce Dickinson, dude? He's at least as good as all those guys.

Ya he is a stud. Perhaps I should have had an "other" category for everyone else. Or maybe we can do a "write in" thing.
Ya you're right. Maiden is totally sweet.

Halford's got an unbelievable range. Probably should put Lemmy on that list also.

Met him a few times. Really tiny, weird looking dude. Nice guy though.

I vote none of the above. I got nothing but love for Rob Halford but I think Sully has the best metal voice ever.
Of course that doesnt mean these guys arent great also. Well Ozzy maybe. Ozzy is good, and is a great performer and has put out some great music but his voice isnt anything special.

Ian Gillan or Robert Plant ... Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin (along with Black Sabbath) were the first metal bands, imo. I just happen to like Gillan's voice better than Plant's.

Yeah, it is really kind of silly to have a thread asking who is the best voice. I mean who is to say who the best is? We can only state who our favorite is,just because that singer is our favorite doesnt mean they are the best.

Halford or Dickinson in their prime. Or Michael Kiske from "Keeper of the Seven Keys" era Helloween. Actually, he might beat out Halford and Dickinson. Killer pipes on that guy.

Although I'm highly anticipating (hopefully) hearing Hetfield singing some Fade to Black at The Q 24 hours from now.
Not sure exactly how "heavy" they have to be to be considered for this (so no, I won't get on my Paul Stanley soapbox) but where's Axl?

Not a metal singer IMO. Hard rock, sure.... but I'd never consider G'nR a metal band.

staind is definitely not metal. not even close.
if i had to vote, and i really think it's tough to say who's better or who's the best when you talk about music, but i would say tom araya, robert plant, and ozzy circa the sabbath days are my top 3
although people's opinion's of what's metal vary.
i'm just glad that nobody listed creed or disturbed because that is NOT metal.

First and formost you cannot NEVER list Blackie lawless..... he has been asked in countless interviews how he thinks about Rich Lewis from Animal singing his songs better then he can ( ticks him off too LOL)
I still say Geoff Tate from Queensryche that man can sing and he hits 8 differrent octave and is classic and opera trained

Just because you dont like them doesnt mean they arent metal. I like Disturbed,to each his own. I like Anthrax also, doesnt have to be either or. Hard rock and metal are the same thing, just different names. There are different genres of metal too though, Anthrax would be Trash metal, one of my favorites is Static X ,they are considered industrial,it is still a form of hard rock,or metal.

i don't consider hard rock and metal to be the same thing.
hard rock, alternative, and nu metal are all kinda the same family. metal is heavier.
i consider bands like godsmack, disturbed, etc... to be of the nu-metal/hard rock genre. nu metal pretty much sums up a lot of the music from the mid 90's to the early 2000's...
isis, mastadon, cult of luna, converge, those are bands that are metal with hardcore roots. maybe some early cave in...

Its funny how things change though,if you go way back bands like Sabbath and Judas Priest were considered heavy metal. Nowadays the stuff they were doing wasnt even that heavy comparitively. If you look on most listing Disturbed is listed as Metal/Hard Rock. I would not consider them nu-metal. When I think of nu-metal I think of stuff like Linkin Park. Their tours are done with other metal bands. Their last tour when they came to Cleveland they were with Killswitch Engage and Chimaira. Definitely metal.

i'm sorry, but disturbed is some of the worst music i've ever heard.
it's just my opinion. with music everyone has different tastes, and i think they're horrible. it's the same 3 freaking power chords over and over and over.
nobody in the band really stands out, and from what i have heard from people who have met them, david draiman is one of the biggest pos's in the business.

See what I'm geting at? You don't have to like them but I get defensive when you insult something I like. Oh yeah Davids girlfriend commited suicide so that would make a little on edge too.
