He was considered the top QB between him and Stafford and came back to get 2 shoulder injuries. He might fall farther down the draft than Leinart for staying in school.
For the record Bradford is a true junior this year. He could not have declared last year, even if he wanted to, and who knows what he will do this year.
With the 'back-to-back' injuries, unless he can come back and prove durable and that there are no lingering affects he would be wise to stay in school to raise his stock. If he does come out, durability is going to be a big concern for NFL teams.
Statistics are like a bikini; what they show is interesting, but what they hide is vital. Drive for show (1st round), Putt for dough (rest of draft).

Not true, Bradford was a red shirt freshman, meaning he could have declared. That was the big debate last season with both him and McCoy returning. Link/Source

Thanks. I stand corrected. I looked on the Oklahoma official site and they listed him as a 'true' JR before my post; but that was obviously incorrect.

Bradford won't declare this year. I fully expect Clausin and Locher to declare.

Gotta agree. Bradford's story is enough to show Clausen and Locker to leave when your stock is high. Bradford has dropped like a lead brick.

If I was bradford, I would come out. He may not go in the top 10 or 15, but he'll still go in the 1st. Say he goes back to school and injures the shoulder again. Who knows, he could be damaged goods already, and if he is he won't get drafted until the 4th or later in 2011. Now that's the worst case scenario.

I can honestly say that I wouldn't touch him till the third. And I'm not the only one who thinks that. In fact, I don't know a single person who does like Bradford.

if Bradford is there in the 3rd.. I would snag him.. and it could happen... a contract in the 3rd round for a QB that possibly COULD do some good things in the league..

Well in my mind there are 3 things working in there favor of coming out:
1) Bradford is not going to come out. His injuries have cost him dearly and there is no way he should come out. I doubt he plays another game this year and the only way to get back in the top 5-10 he is going to have to come back another year. 2) Risk of injruy. Bradford has shown what coming back can do to you. If Bradford came out I wouldn't be surprised to see him fall to the 2nd. 3) Salary Cap- This is the last year of the big cash ins as the new CBA will most likely have a rookie cap.
For those 3 reasons I think Locher and Clausin both declare with Clausin going first overall and I hope we draft Locher.
Go Browns!!

I tried to be subtle but here it is: Clausen is spelled with an e and Locker with a k. Sorry to be a stickler, but it's a pet peeve of mine. Annoys the hell out of me when people spell Shaun Rogers "Shaun Rodgers".
I don't want Clausen, but I'm not willing to rule out Locker. I think the Rams will take JC.

I did watch the ND-USC game on TV and have to say neither ClausEn or Taylor Mays impressed me all that much. Clausen really choked at the end of the game. The refs did everything they could to give ND the game but Jimmy said No. I thought Mays would be more of a big play guy. Cincinnati had a big fast S years ago that would really lay the wood. He weighed about 250#. Can't remember his name but would like to have one like him.

I'm not a huge Mays fan, but in his defense, he plays in a cover 1 where he plays back deep to prevent the big play.
I still wouldn't take him top 10.

Yeah as long as Jake Locker is available neither would I. However, if Locker isn't available I would take either Mays or Berry whichever available.

I just want the BPA. Regardless of position (wide out is my only exception). If things continue to go the way they have, I don't see Mays being that guy.

Well we aren't going to draft a LT o G in the top 10, nor a WR. So I figure it goes 1)QB 2) Safety 3) D line

From a 'how they project to the next level' standpoint, this QB class is probably the weakest in recent memory. To think a guy like Locker might be the first QB taken is kind of silly. He's nothing special.
Honestly, if we draft anyone other than Eric Berry or Nmadukong Suh, assuming they're on the board, I will probably vomit.

Hmmm, I don't know.
I think it's
1)Berry 2)Suh 3)McCoy 4)Locker 5)Mays 6)Clausen
JMO
Also, a quick question, is that Ingram kid from Alabama able to declare? That kid is a monster. And if not, who is the #1 RB, since it is painfully obvious that the Browns need a stud back there.
you had a good run Hank.

So far, this is the first season that I can remember where I really just dont know what are biggest weakness/great need is. I keep going back and fourth on QB, Oline, Dline, Secondary. I really cant decide based on the players you are going to be around.

Well we saw today a great defense can bail an offense out. So I say draft either Berry or Suh then
2nd round - Linebacker 3rd round - RT 3rd round - Corner 4th - 7th offense

I wouldnt mind Berry or Suh. I just hope we come away with a difference maker. I still think we need a big play LBer. Dont get me wrong, I like DQ, but we need a stud playmaking ILB. A legit pass rushing force is also sorely needed.

considering that we need (or could definitely use) .....
A "difference maker" DE RB TE RT G S CB LB and probably a QB .....
We could go just about anywhere with out draft and address a need.

Everyone is saying Bradford has to go back to school for another year to get his stock back up..... isn't he a senior?
he won the Heisman last year? I think I remember them talking about him coming out last year as a Junior. Pretty sure this is it for him.

DOUBLE BINGO
Not only do I think we should avoid these QB prospects in the first round and draft defense (Berry & Suh are also my 2 faves right now), I think there's a good chance there will be better choices at O-Line, Running Back, Linebacker, and Tight End in the 2nd and 3rd rounds than there are at QB.
If a QB in this draft is even close to a reach then I say just say NO and wait and see who's there in 2011. Of course, this thought should boggle the minds of everyone who thinks our current QB situation (mess) is the ONLY problem and the highest ranked QBs in the draft are instant fixes.

thanks... I thought Bradford was done.
anyways... I still say stay away from ny QB outside of Clausen and Locker.
I like their upside. Would I draft them in Round 1? NO
ERIC BERRY, NDAMUKONG SUH, TAYLOR MAYS, BRANDON SPIKES, ROLANDO MCCLAIN
If we don't have one of those guys on our football team next year... this draft was a failure. Those 5 guys are can't miss prospect in my opinion with Berry being miles ahead of the rest.
Berry instantly makes our defense much more feared. Suh makes a defensive line a little more feared, but a player like Berry who can play CB or S and can get at the QB as well as pick off passes and have the vision and ability to possibly take every one to the house makes the whole defensive unit better.
I like Mays, but he hasn't shown me what I expected to see out of him in college. I still believe he will be a great pick though.

btw... College RB's!
Best, Spiller, Dwyer, and Blount are likely the most talented backs coming out.
Do we pick one of these guys in the 2nd? Blount could prob. be had in the 5th with all his troubles.
Best and Spiller seem like another Reggie Bush to me, but could either could be Chris Johnson too. Dwyer is a big bruising back (6'0" 230 I think), but guys with the same size (Beanie, Mendenhall, and Stewart) have better speed and vision---makes me want to stay away from him too.

I hope Jerry Hughes is someone we give some serious thought too in the second round, or a trade down into the mid-first. Hughes is going to be Demarcus Ware, Elvis Dumervil...etc. The dude just kills it rushing the passer, he is just perfect for our 34 defense. Hes the perfect size in that 6'2 260 range.
Its tough to tell how early he'll go right now, but I would guess anywhere from 15 all the way down to the mid 40's if he has a bad workout.
Just a guy I'm really worked up about.

Thats pretty much what I am thinking. I think Suh will be the first d-lineman off the board. I would want an LB but as of now, there isnt any top ten LB talent coming out next year.
I dont want Mays. If the Browns go a different direction in the first other than safety, there will be alot of decent safeties that could be had in rounds 2-3. If you havnt watched Church from Toledo, check him out. I think he will be a late second rounder, early third. I think he is more of a SS than FS. I know the team has alot of holes but I wouldnt be mad if they drafted Berry and Church. Berry could step in right now in place of Pool and Church down the road, taking Sorensons spot and playing specail teams.

Suh is a monster.....Berry is a monster (Its being said he may move to Corner in the NFL ala Nnamdi Asomugha......
I love Taylor Mays...but based off of on field production...I do not see him as a top 10... maybe not even top 20 pick....if he is drafted high...it is purely on intangibles

Its hard for me right now to make sound judgments. OSU lost, Browns are on a downward spiral...big spiral....and the Cavs are about to begin their season. That being said, this team is filled with so many holes, I think we could legitimately upgrade every position except LT. Whoever we get, I want it to be a DIFFERENCE maker. A true leader. I want nothing to do with any QBs coming out this yr unless Bradford can be had late, still doubt he declares though. As of right now I want Berry or Suh. I still think we need a pass rusher, whether it be a Legit OLBer or ILB not sure and dont care. Been trying to keep up with RG and RT players, we need a RB not crazy about any of the top names out there though, I think a RB are almost a dime a dozen though, we could get by with a Harrison/Davis combo.

The more I think about it ..... the more I just want great players.
I want diffference makers,
I want excellent players who fit the scheme.
I want players we can build a team with instead of looking back to a draft 4 years old and almost throwing up when comparing what we have left compared to the other teams (especially those in our division)
I am tired of my favorite team being a non-entity, non-competitive, and a non-factor on gamedays.

Pretty much where I'm at. I'd love a dominant LB... we need one and IMO Aaron Curry is a Brown if the 'Hawks don't take him. But the thought of getting a Troy P. kind of safety sounds good to me, too.
