The analogy is good, but I hope it doesn't take seven years to get to the Super Bowl, if that's what we call soon.
Heck I'll take the superbowl in seven years in a heart beat. Considering we've been in the bottom of the league for 9 of the last 10.
plus that would lean us to being competative for half of those first six on our way up. I don't think this team will see a atlanta 2008 or denver 2009 type turnaround. So hell yes I'll take the bowl in seven

He is denounced in some circles for Miami's inability to effectively run the ball during the 2002 National Championship Game, due to a lack of blocking skill. It's probably more like McGahee getting hurt, but he was not known for being a blocker long before he had the motorcycle accident. Weak.
He was definitely their biggest pass catching threat that night. I have no problem acknowledging his NFL stats.
Now, if he was the all-time leader in leadership, maybe he and Braylon would both still be here. Remember this is the kid who blew off a Dan Snyder meeting the day before the draft.
I would like to have his numbers back, but I'm not unhappy he's gone. I never wanted to draft him in the first place.
Just my 2 cents,...he's gone, so be it--but I don't think our fans hated him. I know I don't.

No, my man. You didn't get that correct. I want the Browns to determine what's best for the team in the long run and not make decisions that are short-sighted
OK, got it. Your explaination makes sense when discussing Edwards, it doesn't work for me with Rogers however. Reasons are rather simple. Rogers isn't a distraction or so it seems. Edwards was.
But, if, like you say, we are going though a rebuild that could take 5 years, then yeah, get what you can for him.. I'm not convinced that mangini feels that way.

Next to Cribbs and Thomas, Rogers would be the next most likely "untradeable" we got,....except that he ain't an original Mangini-er.
Five years,...you think it might take that long ?

I wasn't thinking five years. I'm thinking maybe next year, most likely in 2. But the healing will be evident along the way. We might even see signs of it this year.
If it takes this regime 5 years, then there's something wrong. It doesn't take that long these days.
Along the way though, these guys are going to make decisions that are hard to accept as a fan. And it's because we aren't looking at it from a purely analytical point of veiw. We all have our favorite guys. We all loved Kosar but (I can't believe I'm about to say this) maybe it was the right thing to let him go when Belichek did. Again, another decision made from a purely analytical stance that totally cost the guy publically that maybe was the right decision.

I thought, as well, that he was our greatest threat, i liked him, but he was no Oz-he might have been if his knees held up in stats, but NEVER in leadership-Oz was the epitome of a quiet leader!
I know you know, but for the others that dont:
"Ozzie earned All-Pro honors the following year, 1979, and again in 1984. Newsome went to the Pro Bowl in 1981, 1984 and 1985. In 1986, Newsome won the Ed Block Courage Award for playing with injuries. Newsome played in 198 consecutive games as a Brown. Newsome also caught at least one pass in 150 consecutive games, which was the second longest streak in the NFL when he retired." -from wikipedia
might as well celebrate our heroes!

Actually, Neither Cribbs, Thomas OR Rogers are Mangini-ers. He inherited all three.
