I'm not talking about who we can get for next season. What do we do with our running game right now?

I think our running attack is ok right now. I really think that we need to start Harrison. Harrison played well when he got the chance. Lewis is not going to get any younger. Let Harrison have his chance.

Use Lewis as our version of Jerome Bettis. He would conserve his power for important short downs and goal line instances. It would also prolong his career.

Hey Tenn, I agree. I think more JH in the first 3 Quarters then let Lew ram it in the 4th. By the way what's the scoop on Davis? I read awhile back about him & his agent complaining the reason he got hurt was he ran in practice against guys in pads. He might be in Ginnies doghouse if this is true. Not to mention the trouble we'd be in if it's true. Heard anything?

Harrison did a pretty good job when Lewis was out, but Lewis is our starter and I think last week showed he still has some skills..

I prefer a transition rather than a complete change over to harrison. two reasons, we aren't going anywhere this year (that seems to be a recurring theme) and Lewis is owed that loyality. All he's done since he's been here is work hard and play hard..

But that's just My Opinion

Still the idea of keeping Lewis fresh while letting the Steelers D get a little winded chasing Harrison around has it's appeal. Big Jamal may regain some youth when he's fresh and playing against a tired D.

I think it would be a lot more effective to have the big, bruising Jamal wear them down, then they have to chase the small, quick Harrison. You can't undervalue the importance of what Jamal does in wearing out a defense.

Also, Jamal is the type of back who needs a lot of carries to be effective. I don't know if he'll ever work as anything other than the feature guy.

Depends on which part of the D you're trying to work.

I know with Polamalu's injury I'd like to see us force him to cut and sharply change directions early and often. If he's not recovered and re-injures that leg our chances to win increase dramaticly.

We need to force him to make aggresive lateral moves and to me, that means Harrison.

I just don't see Lewis as the same type of runner. Bettis would get the ball and move forward without little twinkle toes steps. Lews dances too much for a man of his size. Bettis had that nose for the endzone and would seemingly will himself in. I don't dislike Lewis, but just because he's big doesn't make him Bettis.

I think you use them as a one-two punch. Lewis regained the right to start last week IMO. I love Harrison, but Jamal should be starting. I would like them to just rotate Harrison in and out keeping Jamal fresh. I also would love seeing that lineup of Jamal at FB and Harrison at RB, there is a lot you can do with both on the field. Just for fun use that lineup with Cribbs in the slot and the defense is going to have a lot to be aware of.

I'd start Harrison and work in Lewis.

There were some holes last week that Harrison would have flown through when JL just walked through.

Maybe end up using them 50/50.

I gotta believe even a remote resemblance to a passing threat would help the ground game.

I dont disagree with that at all. Ive said that before. Lewis does have some legs left and can wear down a defense.

If Lewis is around one more year, I see that as a more likely scenerio. maybe not with Harrison because he is a FA. I doubt a tag gets used on him like Butch did with White. i also think that Davis is in Manginis doghouse regardless what is true unless Davis had coaches back. The report said two witnesses. Didnt say Davis himself made the complaint. Edwards was still on the team at the time. that story did die down though. I wonder if Edwards did have some kind of leak with that report. He would do anything to get someone he dont like in trouble to get his way.

I would like to see that, but you said just for fun so that aint happening in this regime . I want to see anything creative with this offense that puts the defense on their toes or catch them off guard. Ive seen it happen once when they sent cribbs in motion and handed him the ball. The Browns just dont have the offensive weopens to beat a defense strait up. Use some trickory or creativity. Show the players and fans that you will do whatever it takes or try something out of the norm to win a game.

If we've scrapped the season and are looking purely at the future, then yeah, march Harrison out there and see if he can hack it. However, if we're trying to win the game, Lewis is the guy that needs to get most of the carries.

Harrison can be an answer for this team, but against the Steelers you need a physical presence. Whatever Harrison may be, "physical" isn't it.

***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy.

I disagree. I think a shifty back that can get to the edge and make people miss in the open field would be more effective against an agressive Steelers defense than a guy pounding the ball. Especially with Polamalu possibly wearing a brace on his knee that will limit his mobility.
