The costume features the mask of an alien with a green card and an orange jumpsuit with "illegal alien" written across the front.

Angelica Salas, executive director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, wrote e-mails to Minneapolis-based Target and Wisconsin-based BuySeasons, Inc. calling the costume "distasteful, mean-spirited, and ignorant of social stigmas and current debate on immigration reform."
The group said it also planned to send letters to other companies that are selling the costume.
Lizette Olmos, national communications director for the League of United Latin American Citizens, called the costume "really disturbing," reported the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Target is removing the costume from the site after receiving several complaints, company spokesman Joshua Thomas said Friday. The store never intended to sell the outfit but included it in its online offerings by mistake, he said.
An e-mail to BuySeasons, Inc. wasn't immediately returned Friday.




I have an idea, let them have a rally or demonstartion against it, then arrest them all. Like at a pot convention.

It's hilarious AND a clever play on words. Nothing offensive. People just need to get over it.

I love how these groups call these illegal aliens.. immigrants.... at least call them exactly what they are.. ILLEGAL immigrants.. There is nothing offensive against the term Illegal Alien... because alien is a term given to immigrants, legal (Resident Alien) or illegal... These groups only want to dilute the term to legitimize these illegal immigrants..

"United League of Latin American Citizens" I wonder if they actually support latin american people who are citizens here or those who come here illegally...My guess is that it's the latter... But Illegal Aliens can be hispanic, asian, white or even from outer space... they are all illegal aliens if they enter the USA, Mexico, Canada, France, Britain, etc without going through the proper immigration channels..

Speaking of wrong costumes, this pic was on the cover of the local entertainment section promoting Nemo on Ice...a Disney Production.

Somewhere I'll have to dig out my black SpongeBob Valentine's Day cards that were sent to Detroit a couple years ago. It was a printing error at American Greetings and since Mom works ther,e she snagged me a box of 'em! LOL!

^ I find that would be more offensive than the Illegal Alien one... considering that the Illegal Alien doesn't target any race other than extraterrestrial.

A: Because they are mocking Mexican people.

Quit acting naive bro. - Notice I wrote "acting" which is what you're doing.

While all groups of people not native to the US should be commonly referred to as "immigrants" they're not. It is common practice in the US to refer to European and Asian people who are here illegally as illegal immigrants while simultaneously referring to people of Mexican descent as illegal aliens.

For the record, Illegalmoe likes the Illegal Alien costume.

I think the costume is dumb. Unlike the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles though, I think it demeans no one but the wearer.

If you get offended by a Halloween costume, then you live a sad and pathetic life and probably are barely smart enough to breath.

I mean, come on, Halloween is when people dress up and make fun of each other and I thought this was a great and somewhat clever. Whatever, we live in a PC world and no one can ever be offended.

If you have a green card you are not a illegal alien, you did it right and got your paper work done at a cost to come here and work legally.

This costume implies that people who fallowed the law and got a green card are here illegally and thats just plain wrong.

Yes, but it obviously a bad forgery ... so they are still illegal.

That green card looks like something from a game on The Price is Right.
