That link also said the Patriots couldnt find any takers for Galloway. Would Galloway be an upgrade to this teams WRs?
Our season is over. There's no point in bringing in a fading veteran receiver when the most important thing is to develop the young receiver we have. So marching 37-year old GAlloway out there while sending someone like Robo or Mass to the bench is a very, very bad idea.
Could the same not be said of your young QB
Building chemistry with your young QB and WR seems like it would be a smart move

I think that there is irrefutable evidence that KokiMan has closed the book on BQ.
The fact is that there are just too many smoke signals happening for it to not be true. Selling his house? Yeah, I'd believe him if he hadn't just gotten benched and can't even sniff the field despite the starter's 41 qb rating.
In fact, nearly all of the developments regarding BQ taken alone would be believable. But taken all together, it spells disaster for Quinn. I believe he is being held onto just for some level of insurance. I believe we will sooner see Ratty take a snap than BQ.
When Peter King came out and said he believe's that KokiMan has "had it with Brady Quinn" (after extensive interviews with both of them) I think that the writing is on the wall in large, red, block letters.
There is obviously something that happened behind the scenes. There has been a blowup, a heated disagreement, or something. There is no way that he could be this quickly demoted, and this far, based on just 10 quarters of football. Especially given the exhaustive QB competition that, probably more than any one factor, can be most directly responsible for the state of our laughably bad offense.
BQ will be gone. He already is.

agreed.
1) quinn called out the run game production prior to the ravens game saying it'd be easier to go deep if there was production on the ground.
Quote:
''But I think you have to understand the best way to open up things downfield is to have a running game, to get more production there,'' Quinn said. ''I think that's something we're trying to get better at, so when we do have the play-action fakes, they're more meaningful.''
http://www.ohio.com/sports/browns/60842232.html
if this is what he's saying to the media, we don't know what he's saying behind closed doors and, if i'm a rb hearing that, i'd be pissed. my perception would be that, if quinn took some shots downfield, my job would be easier and my performance is an indication of how defenses respect quinn. that can cause some internal conflict, considering how respected lewis is.
2) quinn wore edwards' shoes day after edwards was traded. that is just stupid.
3) bernie saying
Quote:
"People should cut him slack if he is frustrated and does say something that’s maybe a little negative in terms of wanting to play."
http://www.cantonrep.com/sports/x185907492/Browns-Notebook-for-Oct-20-Bernie-has-his-say-on-Brady
just liked you said, reddog, you don't bench a guy after 2.5 games to stay with the guy with a 41 qb rating, though to be fair, at least DA moved the team when it mattered.

Unequivocally agree....
In hindsight, Quinn couldn't have come into a worse situation than he found himself in this season.
* Jamal Lewis old and no legs left. * WR situation being what it is * OL in bad shape on right side * Potentially best TE in league traded off
I have said and will continue to say that DA sucks ass based upon history, but even though I gripe about it I really don't expect his current output to be any better than what it has been. It's a new regime and yet another rebuild.....and these are the growing pains from it.

I would close the book on BQ too, I mean after all once he was benched the offense really took off, especially Derek Anderson. 2 Td's, 6 picks, 41 QB rating, and completion percentage of 44%.
I'm so glad that we have narrowed it down to the QB, its been so obvious that QB is the major issue with this offense right now.
With all the weapons, great coaching, and steady OL, I too would have given up pre-maturely early on a young QB with those circumstances. It makes sense.

Makes a lot of sense...but Mangini and the Browns would be walking a tightrope with future contracts if players even think there is a chance they could get benched with the idea of not having to pay out incentives for playing time.
If it was just the money I'd agree. This; however, is a combination of the money and poor play. I would hope that if Quinn or any other player was performing at a top level, playing time wouldn't be reduced to keep him from reaching an incentive clause in the contract.

Tell that to Pioli. KCs season is over and they are looking at him. If he moves the chaines and there isnt any vets to show the rookies how to be professionals (Romeos favorite), and him catching the ball would help develop the QB, I dont see that as being very very bad idea. Robo is on the bench anyways, WHEN HE IS ACTIVE, and it wouldnt move Mass to the bench. Im just talking football here. Why do you always like to discredit people or shoot down ideas?

No not really. But with all due respect. When you have a group of players called the offense, that can't even execute a simple play, it kinda takes you out of any plan you might have had based on the result. It's catch-22 for coaches sometimes. If you call a play that is a little out there, but it works. It's a great call. If not, you never hear the end of it. I'll admit. Daboll has me scratching my head sometimes. But I can't really get down on him too much, because he's getting no help what so ever from the players.

I'd stick with DA.
As bad as many believe he is, he is still better than Brady.
He has kept us competitive in every game he's started so far. So stick with him.
Mangini will too.

Thats like saying as bad as a lot of posters are in here, you're better than they are..absolutely stupid...
I will make it easy for the DA fans. Give me a simple list of what DA brings to the table other than a strong arm. Please leave Quinn out of the equation, I'm looking for justification for keeping DA in the game over anyone including Ratilouie.
Let me help a brotha out.....cause you need edumakashun..
DA 2008....worst QB in the league ranked 32nd
DA 2009....worst QB in the league ranked 36th...
So make a list thats actually credible..put away your PJ's and skirts ..not the pom poms either..make a credible list if you can.

More experienced.....as you mentioned---stronger arm(can make all the throws).....keeps his eyes downfield............better pocket presence..........better at executing the offense..........has the respect of his teammates.......able to quickly put broken plays behind him.......6'6" allows for greater vision across the field.............flashes great accuracy when able to step into his throws/maintains proper mechanics.
Overall a bettre option. The ONLY veteran Qb on the team.
Mangini and Derden choose DA.

I should have said objectively list them..U must be talking about the things U wish he did. I could easily refute 4 of those things. More experienced ..as opposed to what? Keeps his eyes downfield..basic problem..does not checkdown. Goes with the first option-results in picks..
Better pocket presence..I don't see that really but it's not something I complain about.
Better at executing offense.. again as opposed to what? He can't make shorter throws..his strength is going downfield..but I'll get to that later.
Has the respect of him teammates..subjective comment..
able to quickly put broken plays behind him..perhaps,but he doesn't learn from his mistakes, he makes the same ones game in and game out..virtually 95% of his picks are due to throwing into double-coverage off the first option. Does not look off safety to prevent him from coming on opposite side of the field.
Height..yes it enables him to see across the field but since he doesn't checkdown it doesn't give him any advantage .
Flashes great accuracy when able to set feet??? If you mean he does this several times a game , yeah..but "flash" doesn't mean consistant..and he has never been consistantly accurate.. U really didn't think what you brought was sufficient did you?

Again, I am pretty sure that DA has taken some positive steps since entering the league. I am certain that he has learned the position and is NOT the "ame Qb he was in college."

That disqualifies that reply..I said DO NOT MENTION QUINN.

I thought U would give me a igant response and U certainly are predictable..dude does not checkdown like he should, he goes with his first option..
Again, I am pretty sure that DA has taken some positive steps since entering the league. I am certain that he has learned the position and is NOT the "ame Qb he was in college." He virtually is the same QB he was..why don't you explain the pattern he has of throwing picks the same manner every game?? It's a result of repeating the same mistakes. What U and that little group of yours don't want to admit is he has a low football IQ..in fact I've never seen anyone refute that.
So lemmie school U on something..a QB with a low IQ will have a difficult time overcoming his weaknesses...it's bad enough with accuracy..but load on a low IQ and it doesn't spell success.

Lack of snaps may cost Quinn millions
By James Walker ESPN.com Archive
Not only is Cleveland quarterback Brady Quinn disappointed with his playing status, but the former first-round pick could lose millions if he doesn't play this weekend against the Green Bay Packers.
According to Quinn's contract, he needs to play 70 percent of Cleveland's offensive snaps this year to earn two bonuses worth a combined $10.95 million. Quinn played 2½ games (10 quarters) this season before being benched in favor of Derek Anderson.
Depending on the amount of offensive snaps the Browns take this weekend, Quinn could fall under the 70-percent threshold by sitting on the sidelines Sunday against the Packers. Quinn would miss a $5 million bonus this year without the playing-time incentive and $5.95 million in 2010.
Quinn was on pace to earn those large bonuses when he won Cleveland's starting quarterback job in the preseason, but he threw for just 400 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in three regular-season starts. The Browns were 0-3 in that span before turning to Anderson, who statistically hasn't done much better but led Cleveland (1-5) to its only win against the Buffalo Bills in Week 5.
It is unknown if either quarterback will be leading the Browns in 2010. ESPN.com reported recently that Quinn put his house for sale in the Cleveland area, further sparking speculation about his future with the Browns after this season.

Ya know what's really sad about that................Setting aside all the debate, all the issues, all the character discussions.............
Quinn had the starting job handed to him.............but he held out for more money.
Just think..............He coulda had $11 million more dollars if he had not let Tom Condon stick by his guns, probably holding out for a mere million bucks or so.
Quinn only has himself to blame.

Let's not kid ourselves here, Otto. We both know Savage drafted Quinn to take the job because Frye was a bust. The only problem was that Condon thought......THOUGHT.........he had Savage and the Browns by the short-hairs, so he squeezed them for all he could. That gave Anderson the chance to be the backup to Frye, so when Frye went BOOM, Anderson stepped in and had a good year.
All Quinn had to do was sign his deal and he was the #2 guy waiting in the wings for Frye to implode.
I've seen people lose millions. It's a bad feeling.

ABSOLUTELY Overtoad!
Had Quinn not held out he would have WALKED into the starting job, 2007 would have been HIS opportunity to take the reigns. Instead, he held out...the rest is our sad past and present.

If I remember...it was even worse...the Browns had every intention of cutting Anderson altogether as late as the final preseason game that year....Quinn being so far behind was the only reason Anderson was even on the roster heading into week one.....They wanted to keep Ken Dorsey as the "player/coach" 3rd QB....Hence Charlie Frye traded....Anderson to start, and Brady to be #2 with Dorsey as his mentor....but then Anderson played lights out..and Brady is still dealing with it.

I didn't mention Quinn. I mentioned the other options. You are asking who DA is more experienced then---I answered you---and you disqualified it?!?!? What else am I supposed to say?
Arch was right about you. It makes no sense arguing with you about this because you disqualify answers to questions you pose.
I said DA is the more experienced of all QB's on the roster. You asked as opposed to what---I said "the other options." And somehow, that doesn't count. Why not?
Why is it, that using experience as a factor in putting a guy into the game is disqualified by YOU. It sure is good enough for several HC in the league. Not good enough for Attack though.
Quote:
dude does not checkdown like he should, he goes with his first option..
Not True. DA checks down when its not there downfield. He also throws it away when its not there. If you want to deny that---then that is your problem. DA's major problem is when he begins pressing. That is when he starts making mistakes. Up til then, he often plays a pretty good game.

Other than message-board guru's---this low IQ thing is not reality. There is absolutely nothing to suggest this beyond angry-fan speculation.

Its all in the wording....He says not to use Quinn as part of the answer
you say Anderson has more experience...or is the most experienced.....which does indeed imply Quinn....as he is the "other options"
Now had you just said Anderson has a full season of starting experience.....that does not imply anything other than Anderson has started....not that he has started more than the "other options"
Might not be how you meant it....but its how I took it as well.

that's all well and good Toad,, but based on what I've seen Last Season and this summer and in the first 3 games he played in this year, Quinn may not have pulled that far ahead of DA in Camp that year, I see no evidence that it would have worked out one bit better for him.
I know, I Know, he'd of had KW and BE who really peaked in 07... That may have made the difference. And we had a different OC that liked to go downfield.. so maybe,, but no guarantee he'd have been any better.
I still look at it like this, everyone knows the flaws that DA has.. They are very well documented. Yet, with an open competition in 08, he couldn't win the job from DA.. Then this season, he got the job, but I'm still scratching my head wondering why?
If he's as good as advertised, he should have crushed DA in Camp making it clear who won the job and why.. that didn't happen.
I always thought cream rises to the top.

Obviously, holding out did Brady no favors. But I'll always contend that having the coin flipping boob as his HC hurt him more than a 10 day hold out. Either Brady wasn't that good in his first camp, or Romeo couldn't recognize the fact that he was good. After watching Romeo all those years which do you think is more plausible?
And so far Mangini hasn't done him any favors, either. "Yeah, you're the QB, barely......wait a minute.....not so fast......."

That's a pretty good point Otto.. But still, When a rookie comes in,, even late, and lights it up, even hard headed coaches like RAC have to succumb to the talent.. What's that old saying, you can't keep a good man down?

DA's major problem is when he begins pressing. That is when he starts making mistakes. Up til then, he often plays a pretty good game.
If you combine his 3 first quarters, he's 1 of 9 for 7 yards... so, up until WHEN does he play a pretty good game?

I said it last year at draft time. The Browns were starting from scratch AGAIN. They should have traded BOTH Quinn and Anderson and drafted a quarterback and picked up a vet in free agency and started over completely. No controversy, no questions, just people bitching and moaning about getting rid of two STAR quarterbacks. I would prefer Sanchez hands down to what we have now. JMHO though.
Hope springs eternal in the heart of a true Browns fan. GO BROWNS!!!!!

He hasn't had a good game this year.. But DC,, I think it might be a little unfair to place all the blame on him.. Receivers have to catch the ball sometimes when it's not perfectly thrown... Just sayin
