My sappy wife and myself had been dating less than two months when our 1st Valentine's Day arrived. I sent her a dozen roses to her work place, and that sealed the deal.

Young fellas out there: never understimate how much the old-fashioned romantic stuff can work on a woman's heart.

Don’t dread it… actually don’t really acknowledge it… I think it’s a stupid waste of time holiday – why do you need a designated day to tell your loved one that you love them?

Stay home…

Give me the gift certificate to Best Buy!

Would you rather your date were really good-looking or a great conversationalist?

Good looking conversationalist

Quote:

Red roses on Valentine’s Day: cliché or still sweet?

At $80 a pop? Cliche

Quote:

More fun to go out and pick it out together

Quote:

Have you ever scheduled more than one date for Valentine’s Day?

I took three girls out on V-day when I was in college… it was the girl I wanted to date and her two best friends…

Neither – give me the gift certificate!!!

What if the woman I love is a professional masseuse

Quote:

Depends on if I buy the $80 flowers

Natalie Portman – always thought she was gorgeous

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith

V-day… no… birthday… yes

I usualy get her flowers, she loves roses and some jewlery.

I like Valentine's Day and am happy with a simple acknowledgement. Can't get roses cause of my allergies but my hubby knows how to order a nice bouquet that's both beautiful and won't give my allergies fits. Works for me

I agree with the simple acknowledgements. The key for me is originality. If it's flowers, sure roses are beautiful, but I'd love a small bouquet of wildflowers just as much, if not more. Many moons ago I received a small handmade card from a boyfriend who didn't have a lot of money, but was really creative in making a card out of scraps of paper he already had lying around, some splashes of watercolor, and a simple, sweet handwritten message inside. You can be creative without spending too much. The sentiment behind it all speaks volumes!

Just another day if you ask me.....I don't need a stupid day to remind me to send my wife some flowers or take her to dinner...I do that on a regular basis as it is.

If you wait around for 1 day a year to tell someone you love them, and do a little something extra, you've blown it.

I prefer the daily reminders over the once a year stuff.

Though, I would like an acknowledgement of some sort of Valentine's Day. A card, flowers a box of chocolates, something. Doesn't have to be huge, just something.

all the prices get jacked up, long waits at restaurants

me and my gf usually celebrate it a week after

Well, dread the day if you are currently not in a relationship cuz it sucks to be alone when it's supposed to be a day of romance and dreaded if you are in a situation with a dork for a partner that has no clue what romance or even remembering anything "special" would do for the whole situation.

But if you are with someone special, it's really a cool day cuz of the little extras you and your partner do for each other that day.

We hate it and ignore it.

Sappy rubbish.

We've been together 17 years (since I was 20) and enjoy each other's company more each day.

Stuff you, Hallmark.

There are way too many holidays in this country.

They are nothing but marketing ploys to generate business and get people to spend their money.

It seems everytime I turn around there's a holiday I have to go get someone a gift for. It's getting ridiculous.

I've been single for quite some time. It tends to be a day where the rest of the country rubs in the fact that they are not single. Usually a depressing day for me no matter how much I try to avoid. I guess I'm the grinch of valentines day

I've been single on many a Valentine's days so I made a point of doing something nice for myself and also remembering my single friends. Any day can be whatever you make it.

Thats my biggest problem. I don't have any single friends anymore, they all went out and got married. It seems like everyone I meet now a days is married.

HMMMM buy my wife something at a very inflated price on a day and time when it's expected, or save the money and buy her flowers a half dozen times a year (for the same price as those inflated valentines day prices) and suprise her with them for no reason and when she is not expecting them. Screw Valentines day, I'll go for being sweet and romantic the other 364 days a year

Every year I beg my husband NOT to buy me flowers, especially roses, on Valentine's Day. It's unbelievable how much they charge. I would rather get a small card (just not too sappy) and go out to a nice dinner "around" the actual Valentine's Day. Not into the crowded restaurant scene on that day. It's nuts! I actually have more fun helping with my kids and their Valentine's/school parties. That was one of my favorite memories as a child, putting those heart candies with the writing on them in each Valentine. Sweetest Day is a holiday I just learned about 10 years ago. That holiday, in my opinion, is by far one of the biggest bogus ones yet!

Valentine's Day for me means it's my late Grandfather's birthday. His middle name was Valentine. Other than that, really couldn't care less.

I'll be taking my wife of almost 18 years out for dinner this year. I wish I didn't feel the need to take her out but I can't seem to keep out of hot water.

Valentines Day...Hate it !! The whole thing is a joke , go to dinner, wait in line ..get flowers, wait in line ..go to a lame chick flick, wait in line ... don't know which is worse that or Sweetest Day ( whoever the hell came up with that idea needs to be shot) both make me ill . I don't wake my wife up early and make her go into the cold woods with me on opening day so why should I have to endure a dumbass chick flick ( I still have nightmares about being dragged to see Brokeback Mountain because it was a "Love Story " ...shiver...) on this Hallmark Holiday ?

I am a single type of guy now........................was married for awhile and it did not work out!

So Valentines Day is not that big of a deal for me right now!

I do remember going out for dinner on Valentines Day a few years ago.......with a good friend at the OutBack!

It was such an embarrishing night............we were sitting at the bar and it was nothing but couples waiting to have a seat and they all wanted a seat at the bar while they waited for a table...............we were the only dudes sitting side by side!

I should have walked out.............just wanted to finish my dinner!

I will never go out to dinner on Valentines day again...........well without a lady friend.............that was a bad night!
