Few of us like to think an adult of any station in life is talking about our boy's "johnsons". The fact remains that a head football coach generally spends more time with the kids during spring and fall than their dads do.
Males between 15 -18 are much more in tune with their johnsons than their psychological makeup so they relate to "manhood" type challenges.
With all the pervert teachers and drug/booze sex parties thrown by teachers these days maybe we should be happy that the COACH TOLD THEM TO GRAB THEIR OWN TOOL RATHER THAN THE COACH DOING IT!
hard to imagine a young man scarred for life by being told to grab their package....hell, it's been 40-plus years but I remember being fairly familiar with my own tools.

We know it's a locker room. We know guys walk around in locker rooms naked. But that isn't "really relevant" to a scenario where a coach tells these kids to reach in. I'd say the coach should get a room by himself. And he should look for a clue while he's at it.
He obviously thinks he has to take the retard route to motivate.

I guess in this politically correct society everyone needs to watch every word they say, and every action they take. Heaven forbid someone would get offended. We can't have that, can we?  Seems to me people need to grow some skin. This does shine a new light on society, though. It shines the light of "if you get offended, then get someone fired." Just clicking.... While I understand WHAT the coach was trying to say, I'm not all that comfortable with HOW he was trying to say it. My favorite thing to tell a player, jokingly, is a good natured response of "grow a set". Also, let's be honest....many have referred to the same thing but have used the PC terms of "gut check" or "intestinal fortitude". Everyone knows what they mean.
Now, having said that, it just wierds me out that a coach told his players to actually reach inside their shorts and "check" to see if they have their manhood.
Should he be fired? I am not sold on the fact that this was THAT big a deal. However, I do see that he took responsibility and accepted the consequences for his actions in his response (if I read it correctly). That's refreshing and shows more about the character of the coach than this somewhat strange effort to motivate his team.
