I personally worked with Mike Randall... he's a character to say the least. I didn't care for him too much.
I think this is a stupid idea, but hey maybe it's because I know DP Mike or maybe because those fans are all going to Give Learner more money in his pocket because they are buying crap while waiting around. Nontheless, Learner already knows the Browns suck and he is a huge fan of the Browns. People may not believe it... but he is. He is trying hard to get this team in the right direction.
I expect a blackout after the ravens gave for the rest of the season.

Don't think for a minute that packers fans have any more say than Browns fans. to think so is stupid.

This would have had more of an impact if it were done after the team gave up last year, not 6 games into a massive rebuilding effort. So the message is that the fans are fed up? What's the solution? It's to REBUILD. This idea is retarded on so many levels.

I think the message is, "we fans are fed up" which should go without saying.. given Lerners email, I think he knows.. I swear Toad,, I think these two guys are just looking for some publicity... this has no other value except as a way to vent..
you are right, it's stupid...

I'll say that I have tickets, and if I decide to go (based solely on the baby and work), I will be in my seat for kickoff, just like I am for every game.

Hey, and that's fine.
But I certainly hope that no one who supports this ever trashes Bengals fans for wearing bags over their heads or suing to get out of their season tickets.
Because an organized protest is an organized protest.
I don't think anyone is happy with how this team is doing. I just don't see this thing accomplishing anything.
I mean, seriously, is Lerner going to look at the seats before kickoff and say "whoa! the fans aren't happy! wait, I thought the team was doing well! boy have I been stupid!"
I don't think so.
Want to have a good protest? Sell all the tickets to Ravens fans, or Steelers fans, or fans of another team.
But, hell, even then, is the team going to suddenly do better?
Seriously, what is this going to accomplish, SERIOUSLY? Put the team on notice that they're 1-6? Put Mangini on notice that people are dissatisfied with him? Put Lerner on notice that the team that he sinks hundreds of millions of dollars into isn't doing very well and that the fans are pissed? Do they not already know that? SERIOUSLY?
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

Just clicking....
Ya'll need to calm the #$!# down. There is going to be 50% of the stadium participating in the Protest and 50% of the people in their seats.
You guys need to stop forcing your opinions on people. If you think it is a stupid idea, that is your choice. If you think the idea will hit home, then that is your right. Just stop the damn bickering already. You guys are worse than an old married couple.

I've never heard anyone think the fans are jokes....only the franchise. You might wanna check your facts, a pretty big national group called ESPN rated Browns fans in the top 5 in the NFL.
Fans are tired of dumb decisions, the damn fact is this team could be alot better right now, and headed for a good things with another good offseason. Instead, loads of dumb pickups, poor coaching staff decisions, and yet another horrible draft has pushed some very loyal fans to a point where they have to try anything to get through to Randy.
As Lebron said earlier, and I agree completely, the days of tens of thousands of season tickets holders is coming to and end, with the economy so bad, people arent gonna jack up money to watch this mess, and nobody is gonna buy anything next year if EM comes back.
This shows how much Browns fans care, that they aren't just sitting back and being homers about it.

My opinion is that Lerner is aware of the discontent. He even showed some humility mentioning himself as not being "conspicuous". That he even took time to address this says a lot to me.
At first I liked the idea, then I realized what the announcers and the talking heads that already bash the Browns would do. They would turn this on the fans, using ridicule and humor to further their agenda of thinking they know it all. To do this on a national televised game, would have the opposite effect that the organizers want. The fans would look foolish after the media rips them apart and further tarnishes the organization.
I think a more appropriate response would be a complete sellout. Show the media and the nation that we DO love the Browns and will stand by them thru thick and thin. What can they say then? I'm sure they will still bash the team, and use the entire broadcast to continue what they do every week, such as constantly repeating stats that demean the team.
I say pack the stadium and be as loud as you can win or lose, because in the end it's the fans that look foolish with stunts like this. Show the world that Browns fans CAN be the best fans there are.

I don't see what good it does. Try cramming 70,000 people through those gates simultaneously after kickoff. Now there's a great idea!

For the most part, I am okay with all this. I'd like to upgrade my seats at the end of the year and I think with people being fed up and the fallout from the economy, I should be able to do pretty well.

There's a rebuilding effort going on? Thats news to me. The only thing I've seen is Mangini turning this Browns into the worst team ever.

Honestly, I don't know.
I've never been this angry with my team before. It's like having a child addicted to crystal meth who keeps telling us they'll go to rehab, but never does. Sure, they're sober for a couple weeks, but fall right back into it.
How long before you tell your children "No more contact?" The way I see it, this is the intervention.

J/C here
Personally if Browns fans had ANY sense at all, that staduim would be virtually empty EVERY sunday until Lerner fielded a product worth watching.
P.T Barnum once said "A sucker is born every minute"
See Browns fans(myself included until the last 5 years or so) was a sucker too....Randy Lerner is taking these fans to the cleaners with a garbage product you actually pay for....I think its hilarious
you would be better off taking your money and flushing it down the toilet or burning it...atleast you would get the satisfaction that you done "something" with it rather then all the anger and despair of a Browns game ruining your sunday, perhaps even your week.
If you go to WalMart and buy a TV, 15 days later the TV blows up, you go to Walmart to return that TV to get your money back, and they refuse to give you a new Tv or your money...are you going to buy another Tv at Walmart?
The "logical rational" person would not...they would shop elsewhere
But just like P.T Barnum said, Lerner just keeps suckering you folks...keep buying the tickets, keep drinking the kool-aid, keep throwing your money down the drain...maybe 509 years from now, we may have a winning season.
The bottom line is the ONLY way this thing will EVEr be righted is for Browns Fans to quit showing up to games, quit buying tickets, and quit buying ANYTHING that has the Browns on it.
You can still be fan and not spend your hard earned money on garbage
force Randy Lerner to produce a quality product that is worth paying for, and you will come back in droves.
Browns fans are the laughing stock of the NFL because we keep buying this garbage and get the same results...
The biggest voice of change for the Browns that Randy Lerner will hear is speaking with your wallet and refusing to open that wallet until the product is worth buying.
So Browns fans have 2 choices
1. Keep being a sucker and spending your money on this worthless product and hope it changes(Wish in one hand and take a dump in the other and see which one fills up first)
2. Be a smart consumer and refuse to open your wallet to Randy Lerner until his product is one worth purchasing.
2 would be the much better option....
Butch Davis won 7 games with a team worse than this one...his teams played hard....Butch Davis was a first time NFL Head Coach for petes sake!
After listening to Mangini Press Conference the other day...he pushed me to the edge...I said I would give him time, after that debacle of a press conference that guy had, I want him shown his walking papers tonight....that guy will go down as the worst coach in the history of this franchise
to think people actually are defending this clown is quite telling indeed
I wasn't excited about the hire, but I said i would sit back and give him some time...but I never thought I would see the garbage I have seen...this team looks "worse" then the 99 expansion team..that is unacceptable
only Browns fans accept losing....hence the reason we are perennial losers.....
If this team looked atleast competitive, I would give Mangini time, but the last few weeks have pushed me I could careless about the Browns anymore...never thought I would ever say that in my 27 years of being a fan...
Mangini and Jr. are killing the Browns fanbase...

I don't think it makes any point or serves any purpose. It's nothing but a slap in the face to the team, coaches, and ownership. I don't see how that helps.
Do we have to have the goofiest fans in addition to a bad team?
I'm just curious if you are one of the diehard fans that goes to the stadium for every home game or must watch on TV? I just feel that the people who actually go to the games deserve to show their support however they would like to and could care less if we have the goofiest fans or not.
Please. Try to sound more condescending. Not everyone has the opportunity (either financially or geographically) to have tickets.

if this happens.. i will be kind of disappointed. I understand the point.. but.. HUGE but... for a "fan" to do this.. you are not a fan.. No Browns fan likes the 1-6 record.. but you still support your team no matter what..
I think all of the guys we have on this team are actually trying..
Amen,,it just makes us look lame. Didn't Cincy pull this stunt already and the Pirates in baseball something similar?
I just think it's more of a publicity stunt to give DPM attention. If it's not Big Dawg it's him,,good God.

The man has hired ONLY two GM's and HC's.. The first group failed, the second is in process.. maybe Mangini and Kokinis will fail, maybe they'll succeed.. dunno, but I do know that it's way to early to know.
So you are basically saying that he's only allowed 1 mistake right... That's crazy man... just nuts.

You're absolutely right. It's way to early to tell anything.
The more I think about this, this is 10yrs of frustration being taken out on an administration in their 7th game of rebuilding.

To be honest, I hadn't thought of it that way, but yeah, that's about the size of it.. 10 years of frustration being blamed on this regime after 7 games.,, when you think about it,, that's just crazy..
To be fair, lots of anger and frustration is being pointed at Lerner and I think that's just as unfair.. Decisions he makes at that level rarely show instant success or failure. Decisions on coachs take time.. He failed with Collins, Savage and RAC..
Way to early to tell if this hire was a failure.. But even still, he's not satisfied, he went out and talked Bernie Kosar into joining the Front Office in an as yet to be defined role.. but still,, having a mind like Kosars on board has got to be a good thing.. I think it clearly demonstrates that he's not satisfied and continues to look for ways to improve.
I think the guy is trying to get it right,,, but it's a process..

This is about us fans letting Mgmt. know we've been patient, & were watching. Will it make any diffence maybe not, will it change anything, probebly no, but atleast we spoke up, now as long as it's peacefull I see nothnig wrong with it, Thank God we live in a country were we can do this.

Like you, I could care less what folks think.. but to an extent having some nimrods out there making a public spectical of us is frustrating...
These two guys are making us look bad,, again, I don't care all that much, but still, they seem to only be doing it to satisfy thier own need for publicity.. Go to any of the sites listed at the top of this site and you will see that they aren't talking about our QB's or Coach.. they are talking about these two guys trying to stage a protest..

I guess we are going to have to just disagree on that.. I believe they are doing this for publicity.. Remember, one of these guys was one of the Charlie Fryes Guys... This is a publicity stunt all the way IMO.
They sit there and talk about how Randy Lerner is a fan and he's committed and how he's trying to fix it.., In other words, they are happy he's the owner,,, then what do they do, Go out there, trying to get people to protest..
Call it what you will, but IMO, these two guys are out for themselves... To what end, I don't know.. But I believe it with all my heart.. someday, with the 15 minutes of fame this will generate for them, I guarantee they will try to capitallize on it..

Meh...who cares ? It is a meaningless gesture that may fool some fans into thinking that they have done something and IMO it is a futile attempt but by all means do what you feel you need to . Funny to read the conflicting points of view though .

I agree, IRE. A fan should do what they feel is right for them...but not tell others what to do or how to do it. Personally, I think this whole thing is goofy. Half the fans aren't in their seats at kickoff anyway. Big deal if a few more aren't. This is actually boring since they'll be there a minute or two later. Ooooo, way to show Randy you can be late.
