Mike Randall and Tony Schafer, fixtures in Cleveland’s famous Dawg Pound, are hoping the sight of so many empty orange seats on national TV against the Baltimore Ravens will send a strong message to team owner Randy Ler ner, who hand-picked Mangini as his new coach earlier this year.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, these guys are jerks.. out of one side of thier mouths they say that Lerner knows, understands and wants the team to do better....

Then they stage this kinda stupid protest.. Freakin limelight hoggin jerks.

I hope to hell nobody does it.

I LOVE ROB RYAN!!! This guy's weekly presser is the highlight of this dismal season.

As for the protest. From the time I saw who was behind it, I knew it was a publicity stunt for DBMike. I will not be participating in this little stunt.

Of course, I'm of the opinion that Randy is smart enough to see the lack of tickets sold this year and realize that people aren't happy. He's staring down 3 or 4 blackouts. I guarantee he's aware he's got a problem.

And I can't hold the last 10 years against he current administration. They've only been here for 7 games. Let's at least see if we actually see progress as the year goes on. I've seen some good things. It seems to be every other week there are things I see as improvement. Then there's a Sunday like Baltimore and Green Bay where the only positive is that the game is over.

I just watched last night's Red Zone. A lot of season ticket holders called in and said they wouldn't be participating. Andre and Mary Kay weren't very supportive either. Dieken and Grossi weren't on the show.

I'm not a big fan of this, because as others have said it's just a publicity stunt for 2 men who need to get a life. It isn't like Lerner doesn't know he's screwed up and the team is a mess. It isn't like Mangini, Kok, the coordinaters, and players don't know they are stinking up the place.

As someone else said, this is going to be embarrassing to the city of Cleveland and to Browns fans. Fans that have supported the Browns for the past decade have earned the right to do whatever they wish, but I hope most are smart enough not to follow these 2 nut jobs.

make it 4.

I read these threads and wonder if I'm on a bengals board. A lot of people are mad, I understand that. Still I always thought we were better than this. I see a bunch of bad fans. You can hate on me all you want, but it's the truth. DT mentioned bandwagon fans a while ago, and got flamed for it............he was right apparently. I'd say 50% of this board is anymore. And this is the GOOD board. Where actual football fans go...........where Browns fans go.

I still have hope. I read the Brows vs. Chicago forum, and the 'got Hope?" thread and threw up in my mouth. I can stand bad football. Bad fans are making me sick.

I've said it before, but Hank, Josh, Robaire, JT, Eric, and every damn player deserves better...........so do we as fans. But this hatred is hard to stomach. We are not that talented period. did you hate the little guy in gym class too? Did you boo Rudy in the movie Rudy?

Nobody is happy. I'll ask you a question to think over..........are we worse than Cubs fans? They never win. I love the Cleveland Browns. I always will. ANY player who plays hard..........even if they still suck............I'll root for. I don't see any quit on this team really.

So hate away. I don't care, because I doubt some of you get it. I'm not talking about fans like Clay choosing to do other things on sunday, or people not spending money on the team, I'm talking about this negative, hateful BS I read on thread after thread. Go root for the Bengals already.......they are winning. Good ridence.

The sitout is stupid. and makes actual Browns fans look stupid.

AK, it does get stupid.. hate for the sake of hate..

I'm tellin you, it's the generation that thinks it's as easy to fix a real NFL team as it is to fix a team on Madden.. They want instant gratification.. they don't want to pay a price for success..they want it handed to them..

When it doesn't happen, they get all up in arms... The owner should sell the team (as if that's gonna happen), the Owner should fire the coach who's been on the job for 7 games now.. Geesh, how freakin stupid do you gotta be to think that's a smart move.

I get their frustration,, I'm feeling it as much as anyone, but that doesn't make it right to be promote stupid ideas like this protest..

Support your team in good times or bad.. that's the way I've always thought it was supposed to be..

Of course, that doesn't mean you can't say you think this team sucks.. at the moment, as a unit, they kinda do. But geez, protests at the stadium on a day when we get national TV coverage.. Come on,, that's just dumb.

What is the message here?

I don't see one, which makes this absolutely stOOpid................

It's brought to you by one of the guys who dressed up as a member of, "Charlie's Fries". Wearing a mock up of a box of french fries as a costume he traveled to road games and made a damn fool of himself.

So, once more he is looking for attention. That's the message.

Boy im glad I dont dress up and carry that 6' dog bone anymore! tho that was back in the late 80's early 90's

Y'all are way off on this one. I think it's a wonderful gesture and I for one am going to stand in my kitchen until after the opening kickoff, then go sit on the couch. [/sarcasm]

You folks know the history of these two guys and their publicity desires and I don't so I will certainly defer that one to the group. It would appear to me though they've received their publicity, Lerner's and the coaches are aware and have responded to it. Point made.

Now everyone go take your seats and watch Ray Rice put 300 on us...

The only trouble with missing the opening kickoff is you might miss the Browns' only score, although I suppose you could argue that Cribbs should have many chances to return kickoffs in that game.

Okay, I convinced myself ... count me in. I will mute my TV and avert my eyes during the opening kickoff.

As for me I plan on being in my seat for the opening kickoff but, I wonder if the people who plan on boycotting the kickoff also plan on holding their breath till they are blue in the face.

Yes, I've watched all but the first game of the season.. I was on a road trip. but I listened to it.

I agree, we are supposed to get better,, but when you rip a team up to rebuild it, it doesn't get done in 7 games.

to even think that way tells me you were not being realistic from the get go.. That's your problem, not randy Lerners or Eric Manginis..

But all that aside, I ask, why should he be called Randy Loser?

And don't say because he hired Mangini,, he could have hired anyone and the same thing might have happened.. you don't know.

Or we could have gone out and gotten a bunch of solid FA's and won 9 games.. then the next season been in CAP Hell like Butch davis did.. Would that make you feel better?

I don't know if the way they are doing things will work out or not,, But if given a choice of how to build a team, I'd rather start with foundation players and build from there.. Each year, adding pieces to the LONG TERM puzzle,

Anything less, and all you get is one or two year wonders.. that's fine for the "Instant gratification" crowd, but for those of us that want it done right so that it lasts.. that will just no do..

I can't believe you honestly believe that crap. Everyone I know of thinks the Browns fans are a joke because of things like this. And this is on the national circuit, not locally.

Everyone I know of thinks the Browns fans are a joke because of things like this.

J/C

Ok... SO do YOU believe them? Sure sounds like it.
Maybe all the fans who think we should just swallow this crap being fed to us are not real football fans at all. Maybe, As you so eloquently put it closer to the end of this thread, we are the morons.
But who blindly follows any coaching changes made in the name of progress?
So when is this progress supposed to show on the field?
How long do I sit and wait for something magical to happen?
20 years long enough?

So the boycott is kinda pointless.
But nothing wrong with the idea.
Sure hope that Mangini does not blow it with all those draft picks.
Then all the people calling some of us non-fans will be looking to catch a ride on the FANWAGON.

Maybe some of YOU should hold your breath and stomp your feet because we do not passively cheer for our team the exact same way you guys do.
At least someone is doing something.
Which is better than the total mess that Mangini and company has created.
I keep hearing current regime supporters bring up the "he has no talent to work with" opinion.

I say BS! he had people to work with and cut them or shipped them off.
I was all for dumping KW2 and BE. Good moves IMO.
But as for some off the rooks and sophmores we never got to see play?
I am not so sure Mangini bringing his boys in did not single handedly cost us some games we may have won with some new talent in the game rather than proven practice squad players.

I will use cutting Rucker as an example.
Replacement,.....
Royal??? Really???

But I guess it is just because a large number of us fans suck...
I will keep on being a horrible fan if that is what it is.
I have been doing it that way for just over 30 years.
And never once has anyone called me a bad fan for voicing my dipleasure with my or any other team. That is what makes us fanatical fans.
Take it or leave it.

Just my humble Opinion.

Actually, they aren't doing anything. They're boycotting kickoff - not even enough guts to boycott the game

None of us are disagreeing with being mad, we just wish you'd all come up with something that wasn't so pathetic as this.

If you want to walk out on the 53 men that make up this team then that's your choice, I just hope none of you come back while any of them are still Browns.

I can't get on board with anything that further brings embarrassment to this team which is exactly the purpose these guys are shooting for hoping that it "sends a message" to Lerner to do something, (what they don't know), that will magically fix everything now.

Never said I was on board with it.
Or that it is a supurb idea.
But the fact that there are Browns fans out there organizing this exact kind of thing that makes me a more proud fan.
Beats the hell out of wearing a paper bag to a game. IMO
Where do we hear about fans organizing walkouts and making national sports news in Tenn, KC, Tampa, Oak, Wash, Det, St. Louis?
As stupid as it may seem there are alot of folks making noise about it.
Even here on the boards.
And with Jamal Lewis now spouting off at the mouth it is only going to grow.
Getting nervous?

I will do what I always do.
I will watch the entire game and most likely hate every minute of it.
Might not turn on the tube until after start time to hit the ratings.
( does that work?)
But watch it I will.
