Take, for example, you Michelle. I notice you're not around these parts much anymore. You or Jules. My guess is if we were 6-2, we'd see you around more. But nobody is questioning your fandom. I figure you're probably just frustrated.

What does my "fandom" have to do with posting on this message board? That's just silly.

And not that I need to explain myself , but the team's performance has very little to do with my number of posts. If they were 6-2 you'd see the same number of posts....possibly less. Kind of ridiculous to assume that is the reason, I've been around for many a bad year on the boards.

J/C...

Could this thread please go away now? lol.

It was a ridiculous concept from the start and I'd say it's possibble relevance went away with the actions and statements yesterday of the owner.

And yes, I realize I'm contributing to the life of this thread by replying to it. I will be awarded no points, may God have mercy on my soul.

At what point do we get tired of it and just not care anymore?

I think that's a personal decision only you can make.. I've made myself pretty clear about my feelings..

I won't protest with some lame idea like this one being floated by these two guys.. it's lame..

I doubt that for me, there will ever really come a time when I don't root for the browns.. there may come a time where I lose interest,, But I'll never stop rooting for them..

As for a protest,, it's worthless.. much like I thought, Lerner is ticked off.. he knows,, you don't have to protest to remind him..

It's a waste of time really.,.

and I'd be glad to tell that to DPMike and his buddy.. it's stupid and you won't get me to change my mind..

I sold my PSLs this season. That could be considered "giving up" by some.

I sold my tickets for the year this year, too. I kept my PSL's though.

People can consider it giving up if they want. I've spent the last 5 years that I've had season tickets (this year would have been 6), spending the $900 on the tickets, plus the at least $200 every time I went up there. And, I was going up there for 7 of the 8 home games every year. I always gave 1 game to my mom to go up.

I was spending probably close to $2,500 a year, plus spending the ENTIRE day, every Sunday driving 4 hours there and 4 hours back. Plus missing work on Mondays after a Sunday night game, or Tuesday after a Monday night game.

It's not worth it to go watch a team that goes 4-12 every year.

I still watch every single game on TV. I still wear all my Browns gear, but I refuse to spend that much money, and that much time to travel to the games, when we can't even be competitive.

When we're at least competitive again, I'll start going again. People can call me a bandwagon fan, or whatever, but I just refuse to spend that much time and money to go watch this team ruin my Sunday every week when I can sit at home, and let them ruin my Sunday a lot cheaper.

Thats why Im not mad at Lewis for bringing up Modell like some are. We didnt like Modell for leaving but almost all of our good memories of the Browns are still from the Modell era.

We should all bring soccer balls into the stadium.

If this Brown-out works, perhaps Randy should hire whoever started it... it will be the most well thought out plan to happen at CBS in 2 years.

Interesting.

I give Lerner LOTS of credit for actually sitting down and meeting with fans. For as private as he is, I think that is great of him to do that.

Randall, who's also known as "Dawg Pound Mike," plans to present Lerner with over 2,000 e-mails he has received from fans since announcing the "walk-in" protest.

Let me get this right,, there are something like 72,000 sold out seats at the stadium for every game, there are maybe a couple of million Browns fans just in Ohio, and even more around the world..

A sampling of 2000 is hardly a lot. It shouldn't be enough to sway Lerner in any direction.. not that he should ignore them, but seriously,, 2000... Gimme a break..

Like I've been saying, this is designed to get DPMike some hits on his web site so he can try and make a buck off it...

I can't believe that Lerners falling for it.

Lerner is placating these idiots to show what a man of the fan he is. It will be a great photo op and he'll take under advisement whatever they have to say, then trash the emails and have some wine.

I was trying to make a point by using you and Michelle as an example. I remember you guys posting much more 3, 4 years ago. It seems you guys don't post as much football anymore. If I had to guess, I would say it was because you were frustrated fans. And my point was I would think that's understandable, and I wouldn't blame you for that nor question your "fandom" for the team.

I made some assumptions about you guys to make a point, but it wasn't meant in a derogatory way.

Oh, hell...I don't post about football anymore because of the know-it-all's that want to argue and bicker about everybody that doesn't agree with them. That got old many moons ago and it just isn't fun any longer.

To be fair...Mike and Mobile do have good ideas about putting the championships on display and having numbers of legends around the stadium along with doing away with those idiots who tell you to sit down.

I'm all aboard with that.

Not sure that we STILL have to go with the protest though.

I was never convinced that a protest was going to do any good.. if the intent was to let Lerner know that the team sucks and the fans aren't happy.. well, I'm pretty sure he already knew that. Regardless, just like with kids where the threat of spanking is often worse than the spanking itself, I think the threat of an embarrasing event on MNF has had about all of the impact its going to have.

I've always said Lerner has gotten a bad rap because of how private he is. That's led to false beliefs that he simply doesn't care. It's BS.

I think many fans who've been wrongfully critical don't have to do it publicly, but they owe him an apology.

I won't go as far as to say he deserves any apology,, but he's clearly shown he gets it and is willing to make what ever changes are needed to get this team to be a winner..

To me this is the time to applaud him, not protest..

I've said it before, this idea of a protest is just comical and embarrasing to the fans of the browns and to the owner who is demonstrating a will and desire to succeed.

I agree. RL is making moves and now we need to see what else is going on, and how they affect us going forward.
I'm starting to get sick of EM and his pressers though. I mean will the TEAM tell us anything? What flippin "plan" is he (em) always going on about? Sheesh.

Been listening to these guys on STO All bets are off.. they just fiinished with bruce..

Basically, they say that Randy was a gracious host.. Brought them into the office about 7:45am and didn't leave until 9:45am. Nice two hour meeting.

They talked about many things, some of which I hope randy institutes in the stadium..

It was mentioned that randy told them a few stories and apparently they felt he was an engaging guy (not thier words, but my impression). nice to hear that.

They seemed to come away thinking that Randy was for real. that he is a Browns fan. And that he wishes he had a magic wand to wave over the team and bring it to life.. But he admitted he didn't have such a wand..

It appears that these folks came away from the meeting feeling like Randy will not stop until he gets the job done right...

Apparently all of us talking about Money all the time,, you know, about Randy paying out bonues, buying out contracts for failed coaches and GM's.. etc.. According to Shaffer, Randy doesn't care.. money isn't the issue., he'll spend whatever it takes to win. PERIOD..

Nice to hear that..

But what chaps my butt is that these guys, after saying all these nice things about Lerner, STILL WANT TO PROTEST.. and what they are protesting for is that they want Randy Lerner to speak to the fans..

they want him to come out publicly.. Tell them what he is going to do and how he intends to do it.

hell, I bet he doesn't know all those answers right now, and I don't think he's gonna know those answer and actions before that monday night game..

I actually hope he doesn't speak out, but if he does, that's terrific.. and if he does, I expect these two guys to back off the protest talk..,

Sounds to me that this is an owner that feels it just like us.. we shouldn't be protesting, we shouldn't be hounding him.. we should be supporting him..

is he gonna screw up,, you betcha.. But even before this information, I felt he was going to keep trying until it worked..

I say, we should applaud Randy and Support him in his efforts...

then again, maybe I just need something to believe in when it comes to Football.... dunno

I know there isn't a link to this,, but it repeats tonight at Midnight.. I'd love for some of you to tune in and see if you hear it like I did...

I agree. Anyone that has a chance should watch that entire show. To me, it doesn't sound like Randy's concerned very much with this brownout....it almost sounds like he's encouraging it. He wants people to know he's as fed up as the fans are. Two other things that I found interesting:

Randy said that every coach deserves one year.

He said he wants to win now....not 3 or 4 years down the road.

Maybe this really wasn't about their 15 minutes of fame. They said they want to protest unless Lerner addresses all the fans.

I have a newfound respect for what these guys are doing. I'm starting to believe maybe they really are speaking for the entire fanbases frustration.
