John Mayer ...hmmm..if you are a college kid or gay he is the man for ya.

Yeah it does make me gay... Makes him gay too even though he is banging Jessica Simpson. It really kills me that everyone thinks Mayer's music is pop stuff just because of a few songs. Like I said, many of us on here love the music of the 60's and 70's because those decades were full of talented artists. Mayer is te closest we have to an Eric Clapton, but no one would notice it because they don't listen to all of his music. He must be doing something right to be playing with the likes of BB King, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Herbie Hancock, and Double Trouble. I'm sorry you hold that kind of opinion on Mayer and his fans, but you're missing some good music. Listen to Covered In Rain, Slow Dancing In a Burning Room, and any concert versions of Come Back To Bed, Gravity, and anything else of his and also his numerous covers of great songs liek Old Love, Bold As Love, Wind Cries Mary, VooDoo Chile/Machine Gun, and nearly every SRV song and tell me he doesn't have the talent.

Besides Cleveland Browns football, school, work, playing guitar myself....music is my life and trust me you're missing some good

I saw Mayer in concert when Room for Squares came out and it was a great show. One of the better concerts I've seen in my day.

Then you may like it more now. As much as I love his music, his newer stuff is actually a lot better. But, none of his studio stuff compares to his live stuff. Nearly every song he plays is 6-11 minutes long with a very complex solos. It's just raw in your face Blues/Pop/Rock/Soul... whatever you want to call it. I just know it's damn good.

I guess I'm in the minority and tune in the Super Bowl not to watch a music act nor be entertained by commercials but just to see football.

I will have too check out some of Mayer's stuff. I really enjoy listening too the metal gods of the 80's. Eddie, Stevie, Malmsteen, Randy, Joe, Lynch, Hamlett. When I was young, fast and hard was popular and I still enjoy cranking that skit up. It seems, the solo feel out of favor over the years. Things seem to go in cycles, and I would welcome a fresh new allotment of six string masters, that aren't playing side kick too Brittany Speers and the like.
