Like a lot of young but talented teams, UNC has been a little inconsistent... so it really depends, if they show up like they did against MSU, they'll be hard to beat.

That's my point as well aben... I'm sure if you dug deep enough into every major program you could find SOMETHING that is a violation, whether it's by the coach himself or the staff or the boosters without the coaches knowledge..... but to make the blanket statement that every program is committing MAJOR violations and that the job of the compliance department is to cover it up rather than to do their best to adhere to the rules just seems like a stretch.... a big stretch.
Perhaps UK fans are just preparing themselves for the day Calipari gets caught, then they will have laid the groundwork with the pre-emptive "everybody else does it too" defense...
Why do other fans generalize all of us UK fans together? Do you seriously think all of us UK fans think the same thing? Do you seriously think it is ONLY UK fans that think that all colleges commit violations?
I totally disagree with topdawg on most of his points especially the one about the compliance office. They are there to make sure the whole athletic department adheres to the rules not cover up the violations. Maybe top has inside info regarding them, I don't know, all I know is I don't but would like to think they are at least trying to abide by the rules. College recruiting in very dirty always has been always will be. Now don't take that as me saying everyone does it, but it will never change.

I do have inside UK info. I know why Dodson was suspended. I know why Liggins isn't playing. I know which recruits have us as the leader (without making a list public), etc.
But, I don't have that kind of info. I have no idea what goes on as far as "how" we recruit. I don't know what rules we break and what rules we don't. I can only speculate.
You can always PM me if you want the inside scoop on a story, I love to share my info with fellow UK fans (If it is something I can share).
But, I don't get near the info I did when Tubby and Gillispie where here. Cal is like Mangini. He likes to keep everything "in house".

Looks like LeBron is going to be in attendence at the UK/UNC game today. I was told him and "a guest". It's probably just WWW (World Wide Wes), but it'd be cool if it was Shaq or someone. LeBron is probably in attendence, because we're probably revealing our new LBJ uniforms.

John Wall in the locker room with cramps We're fighting through it okay so far though. Up 11 with 12 minutes to go. Would be nice to get Wall back, we look a little lost without him.

2 min to go. UK up 4 with the ball.
I'm worried about our ability to knock down free throws if it comes down to that....

And it's gonna come down to free throws. Up 2 with 32 seconds left. UK ball.
Let's hope missed free throws don't plague John Calipari's team once again.

no logo- The UNC game was A LOT of fun to watch as a UK fan. I can't remember having so much fun watching a game since probably 1998. The 28-2 run we went on in the first half was some of the best basketball I've seen. I didn't think we were ready to compete with teams like UNC yet, and when we started out the game down 9-2, I thought "Here we go". Then we went on the 28-2 run and got up 30-11. The game really should have been a 5 point win instead of a 2 point win, because UNC hit a 3 at the buzzer, unguarded. But, the game wouldn't have been that close if John Wall hadn't gone out of the game for about 6 minutes early in the 2nd half. We are a COMPLETELY different team with him. He's seriously one of the best college basketball players I've seen in a LONG time. He can do it all. Well, game 2 of our 3 game stretch to prove we are deserving of our #4 ranking is tonight. 9:30 on ESPN against UCONN. If we beat UCONN, I don't think there's any doubt we belong in the top 5. GO CATS!

Yeah the "and 1" play at the end last night was incredible.... Wall is sick.. If he can develop the deep ball in the NBA (something Rose has not, nor is close to doing), he will be unguardable..

He's 6-17 from 3 point range this year so far. He needs to improve the outside shot, but he's got a MUCH better shot than Rose, already.

Oh, I agree for sure..
Wall is the best player in the nation, end of story.
I don't see any reason why Kentucky should not win the title this year if they stay healthy.. If they round into shape and Wall takes care of the ball, they seem to have all the ingrediants to bring it home..
I really can't imagine a scenario where Kentucky or Kansas doesn't win the title...

if UNC's young kids start to learn to play better defense and get better at the secondary break, they HAVE to be in the conversation.
UConn sure didn't look bad last night either.

UK sure looked better
But seriously, if I had a vote in the polls, my top 5 would be...
1. Kansas 2. Kentucky 3. Texas 4. Villanova 5. Purdue
I still think Kansas is the best team in the country. I really hope someone knocks them off in the tourney. If someone does, I think we're the favorites, then.

on a completely different note....Florida is playing Syracuse tonight in a matchup of perhaps the most overrated teams by the AP Poll currently (#9 vs. #11 respectively)

I was just thinking about the NBA draft for whatever reason....the best odds at this point are that the Nets get the #1 pick (not a slam dunk with NBA rules, but just go with me)....
if they do indeed get it, they have to draft Wall....but the, what the heck do they do with Devin Harris?

florida basically made their name beating Michigan State who has since proven to not nearly be as good as they were last year.

The Citadel had them down to 4 midway through the second half, last Tuesday.

From just watching the first 8 minutes of this game. OSU is SCREWED without Turner and we are going to struggle just making the Tourney

Easily the worst game we've played all year. David Lighty please graduate already. He is the dumbest player on the court. He thinks he's Kobe Bryant when he shoots. I swear this game reminded me of the ECF last year. One team can't defend the pick and roll, 3 point shooters, and they get pounded in the paint. Also the officiating is crap against both teams.

Just want to make you aware of an other 10-0 team that will be cracking the top 25 this week- The UNM Lobos. Beat #16 Texas A&M on the road yesterday, and beat Pac 10 favorite Cal two weeks ago.
Upcoming victims include Texas Tech, Dayton, and Creighton.
While I hold no illusions of them being in the Final Four, do you really want to play a team that went 22-35 from 3 pt range on this road trip play the Wildcats in the tourney?

Also, don't look now, but UK is starting to quietly build yet another top 5 recruiting class. No commits yet, but a few guys seems to be UK leans. For 2010- Stacey Poole (already signed), CJ Leslie, Daron Lamb, Josh Selby all are looking to be UK leans. While Cal is trying to get Brandon Knight to come here on a Eric Bledsoe type deal where he came anyway even though Wall came. Also, the top 3 recruits for 2011, Quincy Miller, Marquis Teague, and Michael Gilchrist are all high on UK

That's interesting because I've heard Michael Gilchrist is leaning towards Nova. Marquis Teague is leaning towards Wake and Miller towards UNC.

Well, I did say "high on UK"
Though, we're #1 on the list of Gilchrist and Miller (curious as to where you heard they were leaning towards Nova and UNC? PM me please).
We're not #1 on Teague's list, but he is definitely still considering us.

I talked to some people at the Nike's King City Classic that claimed to be close to Gilchrist. They were saying Michael Gilchrist was leaning strongly towards Nova. Granted this was in July so his opinon could have obviously changed since then. I believe Quincy Miller started leaning towards UNC after they recieved a commitment from Harrison Barnes. Take it for what it's worth. It would not surprise me at all if Kentucky landed all 3.
