I looked for a link to others but this is the best I could find. NFL.com only has it as a small blurb on the top of the screen. If you see more info feel free to add it.

Bills fire head coach Jauron
Comment Email Print Share
ESPN.com services

The Buffalo Bills have fired head coach Dick Jauron after a 3-6 start in which the offense has been one of the worst in the NFL.

Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell will likely take over as interim head coach, NFL.com reported.

"I am announcing today that I am relieving Dick Jauron from his duties as our head coach, effective immediately," Bills owner Ralph Wilson Jr. said in a statement. "I have tremendous respect for Dick and thank him for all of his efforts during these past four years. While this was a very difficult decision, I felt that it is one that needed to be made at this time for the best interest of our team. We will now focus on moving forward and preparing for our game this week in Jacksonville."

Jauron was 24-33 since being hired by former general manager Marv Levy in 2006 to be head coach. He has two years remaining on his contract that is going to pay him a total of $6 million in 2009 and 2010.

One down and how many to go?

Who do we see getting fired?

Obviously Mangini. Tom Cable is a possibility. Jim Zorn is a dead man walking. Lovie Smith has been under fire lately. I'd say if the Jaguars don't finish 8-8 or better del Rio is toast. Also, Norvert Turner might be gone if the Chargers somehow fall out of playoff contention and same with Wade Phillips and the Cowboys.

Am I missing anyone?

Now seriously ask yourself, if you're an NFL caliber head coach or assistant who would be considered for the position, which team would you rather go to? Browns or Bills?

I'd take the Bills job.

Marshawn Lynch, Lee Evans, Fred Jackson, and Roscoe Parrish. All of those guys are better than any offensive skill position player we have. (I didn't mention Owens because I don't expect him to be around for the new Head Coach.)

And their defense is pretty much on par with our.

Not only that, but you get to work for one of the most respected owners in Ralph WIlson.

Bills in a landslide.

you also have to consider who is available for HC....

lots of rumors that Wade is gone regardless because Jerry has been talking to Shanahan.

if the Panthers struggle down the stretch and Cowher makes it known he's interested....I could see them letting Fox go.

AFC East - Buffalo
AFC North - really only us as possible
AFC South - Tenn I guess because of the VY thing, but I would be shocked. JAX
AFC West - Oak, SD

NFC East - Washington, Dallas
NFC North - Chicago
NFC South - Carolina
NFC West - none...funny, they are the only division unlikely to have any possibles (StL, SF, Sea all first year coaches....AZ coming off a superbowl)

Was listening to ESPN Radio on my way to work and someone asked an analyst why Jauron was fired now and not at the end of the season. The analyst went on about the abyssmal offense, only surpassing 300 yards once this year, only 3 wins, the overwhelming anger of the fans. It wasn't to rescue the season but to acknowledge the sorry state of the team, to let the fans know that the owners recognize the issues.

Except for that high win total, he could have been talking about the Browns.

As someone else pointed out,, this is Jaurons 3rd or 4th season,, in our case this is Manginis first season, Dispite my anger towards what Mangini has done to this team, I think it's just wrong to fire him in the middle of his 1st season.. now,, let's talk about after the last game,,,, that's a horse of a different color....

Other coaches potentially on the hot seat... Fox in Carolina, McCarthy in Green Bay, even Kubiak in Houston if the Texans fall apart.

Sources: Bills contact Shanahan

One day after firing Dick Jauron, the Buffalo Bills have wasted no time identifying a potential replacement.

Buffalo has contacted and is in the process of arranging a meeting with former Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan, according to two NFL sources.

Shanahan, a two-time Super Bowl winner with the Broncos, is said to be willing to listen to the Bills. He has said in the past that he is determined to return to the NFL next season.

While Shanahan, a two-time Super Bowl winner with the Broncos, is viewed within the Bills organization as a desired candidate, there are other names at or near the top of the team's wish list.

For now, the Bills have appointed defensive coordinator Perry Fewell as interim head coach. Fewell is well-respected within the organization and will be given every opportunity to earn the full-time job.

The Bills also will investigate options expected to include Florida Tuskers coach Jim Haslett and New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride, both of whom has ties to the Bills.

Haslett played linebacker for Buffalo from 1979 to 1985. Gilbride was the Bills offensive coordinator during 2002-03, when quarterback Drew Bledsoe had his most productive seasons with the team.

Another candidate on the Bills radar is Marc Trestman, coach of the Canadian Football League's Montreal Alouettes, who posted a CFL-best 15-3 regular season record and has his team one win from the Grey Cup final. Ironically, Trestman once succeeded Shanahan as the offensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers.

Wilson ready to make changes

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Associated Press

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson is prepared to revamp his entire football operation after the season and warned that no position is safe.

"I tell you, we have a lot of work to do," Wilson told The Associated Press on Thursday in his first interview since firing coach Dick Jauron this week. "We've got to revamp and take a look at the whole operation and that's what we're going to do."

When asked if that includes the possibility of hiring a general manager with a football background, Wilson reiterated that every position will be reviewed.

The Bills (3-6) play at Jacksonville on Sunday and are in jeopardy of missing the playoffs for a 10th straight year. Jauron was dismissed Tuesday and replaced by defensive coordinator Perry Fewell, who will serve as interim coach the rest of the season.

Though Fewell is a candidate for next season, Wilson said he's open to making a lucrative offer to land a high-profile coach.

"It's not about money, it's about winning," Wilson said by phone from his home in suburban Detroit. "If it was about money, we wouldn't have brought in and paid for somebody we know was a great player."

Wilson was referring to the signing of receiver Terrell Owens to a one-year $6.5 million contract in March after he was cut by Dallas.

"Anybody that says I'm cheap is looking down the wrong side of the street," Wilson said.

Wilson discounted reports that the team is interested in interviewing Mike Shanahan, the former Denver Broncos coach.

"I don't know anything about him," he said, adding the team will be releasing a statement later in the day to address the speculation.

Browns, only because Buffalo is gone the minute Ralph Wilson passes away. As unfortunate as that sounds, there is no group with a Western New York investor willing to buy the team. And it's going to be very difficult for someone else to keep the team in WNY. They don't make any money.

Living in WNY, I can tell you that it's an extremely sore subject around here (we know how that feels, though). But if you're a coach, there actually is more stability in the Cleveland situation then there is in Buffalo.

Think about it ... would you really want to deal with the distraction of moving your entire franchise? Good luck keeping the guys together, especially during that last year in Orchard Park. And a new owner is going to want HIS guys to run the operation ... there's no guarantee you'll last after Wilson passes away.

In terms of talent:

Both teams are lacking a quality quarterback.
Bills have us certainly beat at RB and WR.
Believe it or not, we have the better OL.
We have a better special teams unit as a whole, although there's is rock solid.
They have a better DL, and again believe it or not we have better LB's.
They have a better secondary.

Both teams are in pretty bad shape, but we do have a lot more to work with in terms of both draft picks and cap space. So it would be a tough decision in terms of the football side of things.

Maybe this is the opportunity we need. I mean think about it, if he dies, they could move the Bills team to Cleveland and combine the teams.. our fan base grows considerably, then they could put an expansion team in LA and work out who is in what division.. I mean seriously, if we combine the Browns and Bills rosters, that would get us to 5 wins right there.

Does that include moving the team to Toronto? I feel bad for their fans....didn't some of their regular season games get moved up north?

Bills Toronto Series

Beginning in 2008, the Buffalo Bills, a National Football League (NFL) AFC East team, will play a series of eight “home” games over five seasons at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This series includes the first regular-season NFL game ever played in Canada. The series is promoted by a group that includes Bills owner Ralph Wilson, the late Ted Rogers, and Lawrence “Larry” Tanenbaum.

Although NFL exhibition games have been played in Canada since 1950, it was not until the Bills Toronto Series that a regular-season NFL game was played north of the border on December 7, 2008. NFL games have been played outside the United States regularly since 2005 with the advent of the NFL International Series, which has promoted regular-season games in Mexico City and London. The Bills Toronto Series is separate from the NFL International Series.

In September 2006, Tanenbaum and Rogers held a news conference, where the two men discussed bringing an NFL franchise to Toronto. Neither specified whether a potential Toronto team would be a new franchise or a team moved from another city (e.g., Buffalo or New Orleans). Tanenbaum was quoted as saying, “I’m highly interested in an NFL team and Ted is, too. We hope to pursue it more rigorously as soon as the NFL gives us the word.”

One logistical question is whether Rogers Centre has enough seating capacity to meet NFL league standards (65,000 seats) to be a viable venue for a permanent Toronto team. It is typically configured at 49,500 seats (for Blue Jays baseball), though more were added for the 2008 Series games for a total of 54,000.

In October 2007, Bills owner Ralph Wilson petitioned NFL owners to allow his team to play one “home” game per year (over five years) in Canada. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell approved the plan, which also allowed the Bills to also play a pre-season “home” game at Roger Centre every other year of the Series (2008, 2010, 2012) for a total of eight games in Toronto. In February 2008, Wilson avoided questions about a possible permanent move for the Bills to Toronto while discussing “high rates” for Series ticket prices. The deal Wilson struck with the Toronto group allows them to bid on and relocate other available NFL franchises up for sale.

Rogers Communications reported a Series payment of CA$78 million to the Buffalo Bills in their Q1 2008 financial report, which, according to Forbes, is more than the team earned (in operating income) in 2006.

Yup, utter crap. I have a close friend that's a Bills fan and he couldn't be more pissed about this. He thinks within ten years, half the games will be in Toronto and they will eventually move there.

It's not like they moved the team to L.A.

Toronto is a two hour drive from Buffalo.

It's either make money from Canada or lose the team altogether.

we'd have one heck of a defense, i'll give it that.

but who is going to play offense? is adding Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick really going to help the QB situation? do they have anyone on their OL that would start for us (I guess they drafted Wood at OC, so we could move him to RG)?

They already have Wood playing Guard, though Im not sure if its left or right.

today they signed Brohm of Greenbays practice squad too at QB. Not that it makes the qb's look better, just interesting.

Bills grab quarterback Brohm from Packers' practice squad
Nov. 19, 2009
CBSSports.com wire reports
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/12546257/bills-grab-quarterback-brohm-from-packers-practice-squad

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Quarterback Brian Brohm rejected an offer to stay in Green Bay in order to pursue a fresh start in Buffalo with a team that's suddenly losing confidence in Trent Edwards.

The Bills plucked Brohm off the Packers' practice squad on Thursday, signing the 2008 second-round draft pick to a two-year contract. In agreeing to play for the Bills, Brohm said he turned down a last-minute bid by the Packers to keep him.

"The last 24 hours have been good to me. I went from being on the practice squad to having pretty much two offers," he said after his first practice with the Bills. "I just wanted a fresh start, a new start, and I think Buffalo gives me that."

Green Bay signed rookie Mike Reilly to its practice squad to replace Brohm.

The timing of Brohm's signing comes during a week in which the Bills (3-6) made wholesale changes as they prepare to play at Jacksonville on Sunday.

Coach Dick Jauron was fired on Tuesday and replaced by defensive coordinator Perry Fewell, who will finish the season as interim head coach. Fewell's first major decision was to bench Edwards for backup Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Edwards, in his second full year as starter, was 1-5 in games he played a majority of the snaps this season. There's growing indication the third-year player is running out of chances to prove himself.

Fewell said he believes Fitzpatrick provides the Bills the best opportunity to win this week.

Offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt criticized Edwards for being too hesitant and making poor decisions.

"A little bit of it is our fault for asking him to do some of the things we have," Van Pelt said. "But the bottom line is we've got to find ways to make plays. Sometimes it's a fine line between forcing the football in there and making the smart decision. And with our guys right now, we felt like we needed to get some of those balls thrown that weren't."

Edwards hasn't taken his demotion well. He twice walked away from reporters when they approached him in the locker room Thursday.

Edwards will serve as the backup, with Brohm taking over the No. 3 spot, replacing Gibran Hamdan, who was cut Thursday.

Brohm's opportunity to make what he called "a new first impression," comes after he became an afterthought in Green Bay. The third quarterback selected in the 2008 draft, Brohm failed to deliver on the impressive numbers he put up during a four-year career at Louisville, where he finished 24-9 and set the Big East Conference record with 9,956 career yards passing.

Inactive as the Packers third quarterback for all 16 games as a rookie, Brohm landed on the team's practice squad this season after being beaten out for the No. 2 spot by seventh-round draft pick Matt Flynn.

Brohm acknowledged his confidence dropped with his struggles in Green Bay, but noted he's learned from the experience.

"I felt like I've grown as a player," he said. "And hopefully, I can come out here and just show the coaches and scouts here that I have gotten better, and show them what I can do. And hopefully, they like it."

Brohm is reunited with former Louisville teammate Eric Wood, a rookie first-round pick who is the starting right guard.

"It didn't work out the way he wanted to in Green Bay, certainly, and that's not how I expected it to happen for him," Wood said. "Basically, everything's out the window that happened before. He's only in his second year, so he's got a lot of potential still.".

2 ways to look at this as Gruden turns down Bills....

1. That Gruden wasnt to stay at ESPN and is willing to turn down HC jobs to do it.

2. That Gruden and Holmgren already have a plan to resurrect the Browns and he wasn't willing to let the Bills job get in the way (yeah, that sounds like a stretch....)

Add Cowher to the list. Bills are definitely on the hunt. Of course they're only looking for a coach and we're looking for a frontal lobotomy . . .

No way Cowher goes there.

Bills reach out to Cowher about becoming coach

By Jason La Canfora | NFL Network

The Buffalo Bills, who are expected to meet with Mike Shanahan this week about their head-coaching position, also have contacted former Super Bowl-winning coach Bill Cowher, according to league sources.

However, Cowher informed the Bills that he isn't interested in speaking to any teams about potential jobs until after the season, according to the sources, and he could have several options available to him should he opt to return to coaching in 2010. Cowher is taking this position with any potential suitors, the sources said, out of respect to his current employer, CBS, and to those coaches who are still employed by teams seeking to make a change.

The Bills are making it clear to top candidates that they are willing to spend big bucks to land an elite coach, despite their small-market status. One source close to Cowher believes the compensation could reach the $10 million-per-season range based on early indications.

Cowher, who resides in North Carolina, is largely expected to be wooed by the Carolina Panthers should they opt not to bring back John Fox for the final season on his deal. The Houston Texans and Chicago Bears would excite Cowher as well, according to a source, should they opt to make a move.

Two sources close to Cowher believe he is more ready now than at any time since retiring after the 2006 season to return to coaching, but he will remain very selective about his next move.

The New York Jets and Cleveland Browns spoke to Cowher last offseason about their openings -- the coach strongly considered New York until having a change of thought, according to a league source, but he wasn't interested in the Cleveland job.

Browns owner Randy Lerner very likely will reach out to Cowher again as he interviews candidates to be a "football czar" there. However, Cowher isn't interested in management positions at this time (he would have strong views about which personnel people come with him to any team, however), but he would prefer to return in a coaching capacity, according to a league source.

Cowher went 149-90-1 in 15 seasons as the Pittsburgh Steelers' coach and won a Super Bowl championship in the 2005 season.

Surprised no one claimed him earlier.

Not saying that there's anything to him...but a second round QB on a practice squad?

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the Buffalo Bills are considering former NFL head coach Marty Schottenheimer to be their next head coach.

I think the Bills owner is just saying he is interviewing every big name out there to keep the fans happy. Marty aint going to Buffaloe and neither is Cowher. Cowher turned down the Bills to interview and said he wont interview with teams until after the season.
