WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!! You guys, it's getting dangerously close to be a civil, fair minded and reasonable conversation in here. You guys did get the memo that the internet is anonymous and you can (and are kind of required to) spew half informed, hyper incendiary political/social/racial vitriol in ways you'd never if you were actually face to face with people you disagree with, right?
You need to knock this off right now! It's not in the true spirit of discourse on the internet. Remember, you need to fuel up on whatever emotional baggage you can find in slights and frustrations at work, in your marriages and relationships, your screwed up childhood, what you see on TV, whatever, so that you can subconsciously inject all your internet interaction with proper extremism and blunt-instrument, caveman style debate tactics.
Repeat after me: "Those guys over there are ruining this country from the inside out!!! (Note: multiple exclamations!!!) You're blind if you can't you see it, they are an elite cabal of arrogant, evil hearted (Insert wildly inaccurate identifier: Communists, Nazis, Suadi Puppets, Muslim Terrorist Cell) doing whatever they can to break the back of this fine nation.... by TOMORROW AFTERNOON!!!
Ok, that was a little generic but I think once you put together one or two statements like this they'll start to come more naturally. You can choose whatever vantage point you prefer. Particularly popular for people gifted in this discourse style are the many newly minted "Libertarians" and "Greens". Remember, you don't need to actually have much depth of knowledge or know the history of whatever you're talking about. Don't bother considering or trying to understand multiple angles of a single argument. In fact, that would be bad, VERY bad!!! BIG NO-NO!!!! You need to set your TV, Internet Browser, Radio to whatever website, cable news network, or talk show host pounds out the most nakedly agenda driven, factually hazy, black and white version of whatever POV you happen to ascribe to be it Rachel Maddow, Glenn Beck, whatever! The point is, you need to buy in WHOLE HOG!!!!! Whatever they say, whatever they get behind you need to ingest and make a part of your world view 100%!!!!! That's the only way we CAN BE GREAT INTERNET FIGHTERS!!!!! Remember, Ben Franklin or Benito Mussolini once said that "the enemy of the great is the good!" AND (note: golden caps lock moment) WE DO NOT HAVE THE LUXURY OF BEING GOOD PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't make me report you to the internet authorities.

And tell me... just how did Michelle Obama's name get dragged into a thread about Sarah Palin's book? I'm still scratching my head on that one....
I was wondeing the same thing.. if Palin can stand on her own achievements, what's with the comparisons..
If she was that classy, would she have quit her job as Gov of Alaska to make a buck? Would she hunt using a helicopter? Would she go around scaring the elderly with words like "death panels", would she trash those that ran that McCain Campaign?
I haven't read her book yet, May never... but I did see an excerpt from it... Calling the Katie Couric interview ambush journalism.. Yup.. like Robin Williams said the other night on Letterman... Couric asked tough questions,, like "what papers do you read?" Ambush Journalism at its finest....
IF PALIN read any papers, it would be simple to name them,,, But she flat out lied and got caught.. You call that class?
She is the classless one...

God I hope she runs for president and is the republican nominee because she makes me laugh and in this economy its hard to. I've missed her sayings like I can see Russia therefore I have foreign policy experience.

Yeah, That was almost as good as Obama's 57 states and ofcourse Biden never says anything dumb. Katy Couric is a liberal lapdog. As for her question about magzines, I would not answer a stupid question like that either. BTW which state is better run? Alaska or that Liberal Mecca California. Who is begging for a bailout because of illegals, high taxes and beyond stupid politicians? How about Texas or Louisanna......Michigan....New Jersey?

There you go deflecting again.. you can't talk about palin in a positive light,, all you can do is talk about everyone else.....
You think that Palin is so classy,, Well, you don't show how classy a person is by pointing out mistakes of others.. You do it by pointing out the classy things Palin does... Now there is a task..

So if someone says to you, "what newspapers do you read" you aren't going to answer it... come on man..
If someone were to ask me what I read, I could spit out several online publications, several newspapers and some magizines regularly read.. It's easy,, when you are telling the truth,, but when you lie, the answer is,, well, I read all of them... Which by the way is exactly what she said.. go do a search for it,,,

A republican governor who's policies on bigger government and taxes are pretty much liberal so in other words he's more liberal than conservative. This is why I don't go by the republican and democrat title anymore since they are almost the same. I go by the conservative and liberal title more often then not now.

I would tell a friend what mags and newspapers I read. Couric would not get the time of day from me. Palin screwed up when she agreed to do the interview, probably thinking it would be unbias. couric asked questions that would make Palin look bad however she answered. Answer me this Daman, Yes or no, Did it feel good when you stopped beating your wife?

Oh give me a freakin break here duty..
How in the hell is saying, I read the Wall Street Journal and the Juno Journal going to make her look bad,, you are grasping at straws now..
Furthermore, NOBODY put a gun to her head to make her interview with Couric... She didn't have to.
What makes Palin look stupid is..........PALIN...

Questions asked by Couric:
What do you see as the role of the United States in the world?
I know the McCain campaign has called for a surge in Afghanistan. But that country is, as you know, dramatically different than Iraq. Why do you believe additional troops, U.S. troops, will solve the problem there?
The United States is deeply unpopular in Pakistan. Do you think the Pakistani government is protecting al Qaeda within its borders?
You've cited Alaska's proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?
Have you ever been involved in any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?
What lessons have you learned from Iraq? And how specifically will you try to spread democracy throughout the world?
Do you believe the U.S. should negotiate with leaders like President Assad and Ahmadinejad?
You recently said three times that you would never, quote, "second guess" Israel if that country decided to attack Iran. Why not?
Gov. Palin, almost every expert says it will take about 10 years for domestic drilling to have an impact on consumers. So isn't the notion of "drill, baby, drill" a little misleading to people who think this will automatically lower their gas prices, and quickly?
And when it comes to establishing your worldview, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?
What's your position on global warming? Do you believe it's man-made or not?
If a 15-year-old is raped by her father, do you believe it should be illegal for her to get an abortion, and why?
Some people have credited the morning-after pill for decreasing the number of abortions. How do you feel about the morning-after pill?
Do you believe evolution should be taught as an accepted scientific principle or as one of several theories?
If this doesn't pass, do you think there's a risk of another Great Depression?
Would you support a moratorium on foreclosures to help average Americans keep their homes?

On one hand you have someone who's not up to speed on policy/issues and should have not been sent out to be interviewed and on the other you have someone who's memorized a line of party BS a mile long. You can plug alot of people into either role and you still end up with the same thing...a worthless politician.

Phil,, thanks for adding the questions so that Dawg Duty has to stop saying the questions were designed to make Palin look bad,, Here's a news flash,, all politicians running for national office get those types of questions. the ones that can answer them generally get elected... It's NOT supposed to be easy.. The job sure as hell isn't. Quote:

Old mutt,, that's exactly correct. Palin memorized some catch phrases like, "Obama hangs out with Domestic Terrorists"... or the whole "Death Panel" thing... Repeated them a thousand times..
But ask her a real question (as Couric did) and she completely falls into "High School Cheerleader" mode,, all giggles and cutesy...
But the easiest question in that bunch was,,,, What Newspapers do you read.... How hard is that?
What really happened here is that the McCain campaign didn't prep her well enough.... she didn't learn enough of the company line to be able to answer those questions..
A serious candidate for a national public office needs to know this stuff.. all of it.

I can't figure out if Duty is trolling or if there are actually people who believe things like that in this world. I really hope its the former... About Palin's book, I doubt I'd read it if there was only that in the bathroom. I generally have a low opinion of every politician, but she's really set the bar. It's quite a shame, I was a pretty big McCain fan back in 2000 and would have voted for him if I could have (was 17 during that election) but what he turned into and who he ran with have pretty much pushed me away from supporting him. I consider myself to be "Republican" but I mean by the definition of the word and not what the current members of the party are twisting it into. Listening to the nonsense and hate they've been spewing its a wonder they have people still behind them at all...but then again this is America, where you're allowed to think whatever you want, no matter how stupid it is. Sarah Palin is leading the charge on that front. I hope she and her ilk go away soon and we can get some intelligent debate and policy... Can you still move to Canada or have they closed the borders yet?

Run by a Republican Governor.
About as much of a Republican as Barney Frank.
Little off topic but my money is on there being more than Reps and Dems making a REAL push in the next few years.

Hopefully that means the Libertarian Party comes to the forefront a bit more! It's like having competence in two areas (one being economics which I take the conservative route on, then the more liberal take on social issues) and not just settling for the lesser of two evils. That's just me. Not saying anyone who votes the other ways around are evil
Politicians are puppets, y'all. Let's get Geppetto!

I don't really know either...but judging by turn out she gets at these book signings, I'd say its that there are people who believe..... It's scary.

Most of my life has been spent as a republican as well... But extremists from either side horrify me. If we the people allow extremists to rule the land, then we are no different than folks in the middle east allowing islamic extremists to rule thier world..
