for the NL teams, they generally just accept winning the NL pennant as winning the whole thing these days

Nobody should ever blame anyone for saying baseball is dorkburgered.
It's cutting its own throat, still making money, and us dummies still pay attention.
As a result, it may never change.
Ya know, 45 years ago I never even really knew what college football was,...I was an NFL guy and thought maybe there was, I had heard, a baseball team in Cleveland.

i don't really follow it much anymore. the last few years have definitely soured me, i still hear about what goes on, because of the media exposure, like the possible trade with the phils and m's, but i just don't care.
my stance will continue to be i hate major league baseball but i love the indians. the team. dolan might suck but i always like the majority of the guys. they are easy guys to root for, they just have an owner who refuses to help the cause. as much as we blame baseball, the media did kinda take the defense of the league and point out at how much money these small and mid-market teams are pocketing. the fact that new york and boston can outspend everyone is still crap, but these owners of small and mid market teams like the indians, like the royals, like oakland are just as much to blame.
so as a fan of the tribe, a's, royals, etc, why bother?
i will still watch the indians on tv when they play the sox or if they are just on espn playing the red sox or yankees, but i won't pay for any package and i certainly won't watch the rest of the league.
sucks, but there are 3 better pro leagues out there to watch (nfl, nhl, nba) plus both college bball and football to watch, plenty of games there.

I hear ya',....I love the game. I love most all games (hockey and soccer, well I respect,...) but right now if you gave me a choice of a free ticket, I'd take the hockey ticket over baseball,...and Cleveland doesn't even have hockey. And while they're not the Browns, I'm happy as hell that the NFL has a chance to send two undefeateds to the NFL Championship Game this year.

Baseball America came out with it's top20 prospects today. Santana gets in there at #11 11. Carlos Santana, C, Indians Why he's here: The Indians just got rid of a switch-hitting, offensive-minded catcher with offensive upside in Victor Martinez. Santana is nowhere near the polished hitter that Martinez was in Cleveland, but his patient, powerful approach should prove there's more than one way to get it done. What he'll be:: A catcher with 20-homer ability who draws plenty of walks and can control the running game usually makes a few All-Star games. When he arrives: Lou Marson, acquired from the Phillies in the Cliff Lee trade, should hold down the fort for most of 2010, but Santana could hit his way past Marson sooner than later. manny acta is well-respected in MLB circles...you try winning games with that Nats roster (yeah, it's worse than ours).
also, he's brining alomar in as well to coach...good ole Sandy.
it's all on our bullpen...if they pitch well, we could compete to be eliminated in the 1st round of the playoffs (also known as the Central Division Champs)....if they pitch poorly, we'll challenge the bottom of the AL.

carlos santana is going to be awesome.
and even more so when the tribe trades him away in 5 years just as he becomes good. they'll do it to cut costs even though they are pocketing all kinds of money.
cheap ass dolans.

Really, I have more faith in most of the guys in our bullpen than I do our starters at this point.
Eat it Phil...
