Chicago and Houston still have playoff shots, albeit mathematical(s). Doubt if either were to "get there" they'd get fired.

Zorn is gone, agree there.

Fox has to leave so Cowher can get in,....

Mangini is up in the air, based on who comes in as the GM,....no ?

Cleveland "GM"- Bill Parcells (I'm still sticking to that).
Seattle "GM"- Mike Holmgren

Buffalocoach- Mike Shannahan
Washington Coach- Brian Billick
Oakland Coach- Leslie Frazier
Chicago Coach- Lovie Smith
Chicago GM- Jerry Angelo
Houston Coach- Gary Kubiak
Carolina Coach- Bill Cowher
Tampa Bay Coach- Raheem Morris
Cleveland Coach- Todd Bowles

100% guesses.

There is a lot of talk here in Wi. that you can add Green bay to the list. I think it's really the fans more than the team but you never know.

If that is the case Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy will be available also.

I don't see any way we get Parcells,...I don't think he is a money grubber and he really isn't "finished" yet rebuilding Miami. However, that could be because he IS done there, and would like to move on,...

Here is my wish/short list for the Browns. This list doesn't include the "sexy" names that would cost an arm and leg to get them to come to Cleveland, but a more realistic approach.

GM:
1. Floyd Reese - New England (Previously w/ Houston/Tennessee)
2. Charley Casserly - CBS Sports (Washington/Houston)
3. Ernie Accorsi - Retired (Baltimore Colts/Browns/Giants)

Head Coach: Only 1 Defensive coach listed.
1. Jim Harbaugh - Stanford (Love his offense and enthusiasm. From Toledo, midwestern guy. I think he would love to play against his brother twice a year.
2. Mike Sherman - Texas A&M. Former Packers head coach. Loses due to injuries got him fired.
3. Steve Mariucci - NFLN - Former 49ers/Lions Head Coach.
4. Jim Haslett - UFL. Caught a bad break in New Orleans.
5. Urban Meyer - Florida. From Sandusky. Offensive innovator. May want a new challenge.

Just wondering why you think the Browns job is the least likely to be open.

The Bears are notoriously cheap spenders and Lovie Smith has another year left on his contract. I would say Mangini is more likely to be gone than Morris, Fox, Kubiak and Smith.

I would also like to add a few spots that you missed. The Bills already have an opening. If the Cowboys and Chargers fail in the playoffs they could both have openings. Also, Jack del Rio might be out of a job if the Jaguars miss the playoffs.

I'll even sort them from what I think are least likely to most likely

should be safe
Chicago GM (Jerry Angelo)
Houston Coach (Gary Kubiak)
Tampa Bay Coach (Raheem Morris)

if they think they could get the listed guy to replace them
Oakland Coach (Tom Cable) - who would take it?
Chicago Coach (Lovie Smith) - Gruden or Dungy
Carolina Coach (John Fox) - Bill Cowher
Jacksonville Coach (Del Rio) - Gruden
Dallas Coach (Wade Phillips) - Shanahan
SD Coach (Norv Turner) - Holmgren

**I think Gruden ends up in JAX, Dungy stays retired (so Lovie stays in Chicago another year), and Holmgren passes on dealing with AJ Smith in SD (making Norv safe).

does not look good for them right now
Washington Coach (Jim Zorn) - Brian Billick (after courting the bigger name guys)
Cleveland Coach (Eric Mangini) - Mariucci (I'd prefer Gruden, but I think he wants his own team and won't get that under Holmgren's thumb)

Open Positions
Cleveland GM Holmgren
Seattle GM ??? no idea what they want....experienced like Wolf or Reese? Up and coming like Heckert......I'd say Heckert matches best with knowing the WCO style of guys they want to bring in, but it's tough to say.
Buffalo Coach John Fox - and this might end up being one of the better coaching hires done this offseason.

If the Chicago coaching job is available, which it probably won't be, why would the Bears not be interested in Shanahan? And why would Shanahan not be interested in the Bears?

The Bears have Shanahan's handpicked QB on their team. The Bears need an offensive minded coach.

Also, can we please stop the talk of Gruden coaching next year. He is not leaving the booth for at least another season and probably more than that. Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen, who booth work with Gruden on ESPN, have both said Gruden is staying on MNF.

And saying "does not look good for them now" for both Mangini and Zorn is the understatement of the century. Zorn has been demoted on his own team and the owner routinely axes coaches. And we all know Mangini's situation.

Holmgren has said he would like to be the Gm/Czar/Whatever you want to call it. There is no way A.J. Smith (the Chargers Power Rich/Hungry GM) would ever hire Holmgren because that would put his own job at risk. And Dungy would never take over a team that was previously coached by one of his best friends out of respect.

I really don't understand where you can up with the names on this list other than Cowher to the Panthers.

How did you come up with this list? I don't understand.

I'm only gonna comment on the ones I think I have a chance of being right on.

Dallas - Shanaham
Redskins: Billick
Bears: Leslie Frazier
Bills: Russ Grimm
Seahawks GM: Holmgren
Browns "Czar" (I really hate that term): Parcells (not incredibly likely, but he's who I want)
Browns Head Coach: Not a clue.

I was going to put them, but they'll make the playoffs this year and live to face another day

No way Billick winds up in Washington. With Baltimore 40 miles away the media coverage of Baltimore in Washington will taint the decision making process.

I don't know why so many people think Mangini is gone. I think he's going to get another year, which is frightening to me.

Never has a guy deserved to be canned after his first year than Mangini.

My guesses for the Browns:

Browns "Czar"- Holmgren
Browns HC- I really have no earthly idea, so I'm just going to go with whom I want: Either Mornhinweg or Sherman. Both Holmgren disciples and available for NFL HC jobs.

I just don't see any advantage to Parcells taking the job in Cleveland. Not gonna happen.

I hear Mark Mangino from Kansas is resigning. I say we pick him up for HC, Keep Ryan at DC, and hire RAC back for OC.

This way, we get larger.. we're sure to win baby!

because Romo was Shanahan's hand-picked QB as well....he took less money to go to Dallas over Denver.

and Romo is better than Cutler....Miles Austin, Roy Williams, Witten, Barber, Felix Jones, Tashard Choice are better than anything Chicago has....Dallas' OL is better than Chicago's.

and Dallas' D is just as good or better depending on their motivation for the week.

I didn't include Shanahan for Chicago because I think he's going to Dallas

I would want Holmgren as the Czar.

And one of his deciples as HC.

Gruden, Mooch, Morhninweg, Sherman.

I have had it with the Parcells, Bellicheck tree.

Jason Garrett. Keep in mind he's virtually been the head coach in waiting for a good while now. He's also I think doing a very good job coordinating their offense.

Jason Garrett. Jones pays him like a HC and he was the heir apparent not too long ago.

Lerner should do what ever it takes to land Mike Holmgren as Czar...

...then stand back and let Holmgren hire his own GM (if needed) and his own HC.

Didn't see this anywhere.
May not have to worry about Holmgren.Looks like he's bucking for the Seahawks office.
