I'm bored at work, and we were talking about some of the greatest college basketball games ever played. I figured I'd see what sports games (all sports), you guys consider amongst the greatest ever played? Mine are... NFL- Patriots vs. Giants Super Bowl and Titans vs. Rams Super Bowl. MLB- Tigers vs. Twins 1 game playoff this year, 2003 ALCS Game 7 (even though I hated the outcome), and Marlins vs. Indians Game 7 (even though all you hated the outcome). NCAA football- Texas vs. USC BCS Title game, Boise State vs. Oklahoma BCS game, NCAA basketball- 1992 Duke vs. Kentucky ( ), Last year Syracuse vs. UCONN 6 OT game, 2005 Arizona vs. Oklahoma State, 2003 Arizona vs. Gonzaga. Anyone got any to add?

Can't argue with the ones you've listed. One of the best games nobody really saw (I was at the game) ... Boise St. vs Idaho in 1998. Boise St was just starting to come into it's own as a college football power. Both Idaho and BSU has just joined D-I that year I believe. BSU was up 14 mid-way through the 4th quarter, and was sitting on the Idaho 2-yard line looking to dive in for another touchdown to ice the game. The RB tried diving over the pile and was stripped. Idaho recovered and drove 98 yards for a TD. The drive was capped off by an amazing 40-some yard rush, that went from sideline to sideline to sideline and finished with a dive into the endzone from 5-yards out. Can't remember if Idaho forced a 3 and out or recovered the onside ... but they got the ball back and scored another TD right before the end of the game. Game goes into OT, and BSU marches down and scores a TD and extra point. Idaho gets the balls, scores a TD, and BSU calls a timeout on the extra-point for some extra gamesmanship. (UI had called 3 in a row on a FG attempt right before halftime earlier). Timeout expires and BSU trots out the FG block team, while Idaho trots out the offense. BSU didn't realize what was going on and Idaho threw a quick flare pass for the winning 2-pt conversion! As far as other games ... In the NBA last year, I was at the Cavs/Clippers game which was amazing to see in person. Cavs were down 19 with 8 minutes to go in the game, and came back to win it. I happened to be in a luxary suite full of Cavs fans, and I think the glass shattered when Mo hit the 3-pointer to put the Cavs up right at the end. And of course there is the Magic/Cavs playoff game, where Lebron hit that prayer 3-pointer to win it. I think that was the first game where I was in actual shock when it was over.

Oh, I'd also like to add Ohio State vs. Miami BCS title game, and Florida State vs. Nebraska Orange Bowl.

49 Niners, Cinci superbowl. 49 niners Ronnie Lott was an absolute mad man in that game.

Hrmmmm.....
NHL - Capitals and Penguins in that 5-6 OT game late 90's. Pure awesome. I became a fan of the NHL that night.
MLB - Anything related to the '95 Indians (each and every night was electric).
NFL - Bills vs. Oilers (Frank Reich comeback), Bill vs. Titans (music city miracle), Bill vs. Browns (Clay's interception to end the playoff game), Browns vs. Jets Double OT (have it on DVD), Pats vs. Raiders (Tuck Rule), & Browns vs. Denver (that MNF game a season after one of our AFC games - won on a FG at the end).
NBA - Lebron
NCAA football - Mich vs. OSU (#1 vs. #2)
NCAA basketball - Duke vs. Kentucky (CL's shot at the buzzer)
Olympics (which I can't stand watching now) - anything related to the 1980 hockey team

This thread would probably work better if it was "Best games you have attended" because most people have seen these games....
With that in mind.... I was at OSU v. Michigan 2006- #1 v. # 2
Browns v. Falcons in 2002 -Run William Run
Indians v. Red Sox ALDS Game 1 1999-11th Inning Walk off Single by Travis Fryman
And maybe the best
Indians v. Yankees ALDS Game 2 2007-The Bug Game
Oh I watched Duke end there 20-30 something game losing streak by beating Northwestern in overtime in 2007-good game, awful teams

I thought the Steelers vs. Cardinals game last year was really a great one, even though I didn't like the result.
But the one sporting event that I actually watched live on TV was the Texas/USC championship game, Vince Young vs. Matt Leinart. I literally could not get to sleep after that because of what a great game it was.
Oh, and the Bears/Cardinals game a few years ago that lead to Dennis Green's outburst.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

These are personal favorites for a variety of reasons... NFL - Browns vs Jets playoff game NCAA Football - Terps over Miami in mid 80s, I think it was 84.. (Frank Reich led greatest college comeback in history to that point). From a pure entertainment perspective, Boise State vs Oklahoma is up there. NCAA Basketball - Terps over Indiana for National Championship game, Terps beat UNC and become first visiting team to win at new Dean Smith Center, and any game where Maryland beat Duke. Maryland Duke games from around 1999 to 2003 were almost all great games. Hockey - The miracle on ice

Ever Attended - 1986 Browns double overtime playoff game vs. Jets. "The Drive" - Man did that suck. 1995 Indians down by 8 runs come back and beat Toronto Blue Jays on a Paul Sorrento walk off homer. 1997 ALCS - Grissom steals home to win game 3 vs. Baltimore. Browns beating Ravens for first time in 2001, Browns beating Steelers for first win in new stadium in 2000, Browns beating Bellichik during his return to Cleveland in 2000, Jeff Garcia rolling the Ravens in Browns 2004 home opener.
Best I've ever seen on tv? The fumble, Browns - Bills 1989 divisonal game, Browns-Cowboys 1994, Browns-Pats playoff 1994, Indians entire 1997 post season, Couch's Hail Mary pass to KJ vs NO in 1999, Couch's Hail Mary to Q. Morgan vs Jacks in 2002. Ohio State vs. Michigan 2002, Ohio State vs. Miami 2002, 2006 Ohio State v Illinois, 2006 Ohio State v Michigan. 2008 Ohio State v Wisconsin, 2009 Bowl season Ohio State v Tex, 2009 Ohio State v USC. 2007 Cavs series vs. Detroit.
Non Cleveland related games on TV?
Giants-Bills Superbowl Broncos- Pack Superbowl Patriots - Rams Superbowl Giants - Pats Superbowl Pats - Carolina Superbowl Steelers - Cardinals Superbowl

osu/um nc game, i don't think i have ever been as drunk as i was that night, we literally drank from the minute i got off work at 9am friday morning, up until the game, during the game, during both overtimes, and in celebration until 6am the following morning, and i didn't even get sick. it was a feeling like no other.
cavs/pistons lebron takeover game in the palace, followed by the next game when boobie went crazy and the streets of cleveland were in celebratory fashion
browns/jets double ot
tribe/yanks '97 the sandy alomar game, sandy hits a check swing home run off rivera. tribe goes onto win the series, rivera doesn't give up another run in the playoffs for some 5 straight seasons.
red wings/pens 2 years ago in the finals, 3 ot i think? game 7 last year was incredible too.
personally, hawks/flames last year in the playoffs, i attended, first playoff game for hockey, the place was electric, cheering during the nat'l anthem, hawks take the lead, the last 5 minutes the place was deafening. when the hawks are good i honestly think that is chicago's best sporting event to attend.

j/c The greatest game I ever attended in person was a few years, Toledo upset Pitt. Pitt was ranked 9th in the country with Larry Fitzgerald. My roomate worked for the football team and got us on the sidelines for the game. After the game was over we stormed the field, celebrated with the players and took the goal posts down, just a great game and a great experience. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recap?gid=200309200055

Jan 2, 1982 San Diego vs Miami playoff. The best NFL football game ever, IMHO. I was sad the game had to end.

Unfortunate as it was, that Series was over before it started. Atlanta was the better ball team and had stronger pitching.
I drove 7 hours to Quantico that day, dumped my brother's ashes in the Potomac, and drove back, listening on the radio,....
Great win for the Braves.

MLB: So many, but I'd say game 6 of the Mets-Sox, 1986 World Series. Bill Buckner. NHL: Again, so many.... for me, 1993 Detroit-Toronto game 7. Leafs rally late, won in sudden-death OT. NFL: Again, so many... Giants-Patriots Super Bowl two seasons ago proobaly tops my list, but if I gave it enough time, I could probably think of another one that was just as good.

i still think the tribe got jobbed that year, they should have had home field advantage, they were 100-44, that's ridiculous, they had a shot at 115 wins the way they were going.
atlanta had stacked pitching but i really hate the way glavine was treated in that series.

Miracle on Ice -1980 Winter Olympics USA over Russia 1964 NFL Championship Game 1988 World Series Game 1 (Kirk Gibson dramatic pinch-hit HR) Super Bowl III (Jets over Colts, January 1969) 2007 Fiesta Bowl (Boise State 43 - Oklahoma 42 in OT)
Oh yeah, the night in Baltimore when the Tribe attempted to give Duke Sims a break from catching and so they had him play left field. He races back to the fence to catch a pop fly, gets his foot caught beneath the fence, and the ball drops 20 feet in front of him. Man how I loved those pathetic Tribe teams.

Ok, I'll limit these to Cleveland Sports or I'll be here for a week....still, it's hard to whittle the list down, but I'll keep it somewhat short.
Browns
1986 NYJ double-OT playoff game The Fumble The Drive 1989 Bills playoff game The first win after we came back (vs. NO on the Hail Mary) 2003 playoff game vs. Steelers 2007 DA vs. Cinci (week2 obviously not the later one)
Cavaliers
The Shot 1994 playoffs vs. Celtics game7 LeBron's first game Wizards game5 GW shot (setting stage for one-sided rivalry) game5 vs. Detroit Last year's MSG Triple-Double Game (despite the NBA re-tracting that rebound)
Indians
random Canton-Akron Indians game in '93 featuring Manny Ramirez 1995 ALCS Game6 clinching game where Dennis Martinez outdueld Randy Johnson in the Kingdome 1997 WS Game7 12 run comeback vs. Mariners (only kept this game on in the background because I was working....then slowly became captivated by the possibility and jubilant at the outcome) The bug game vs. Yankees

My favorite games:
Browns: DA verses Cincy Game 1 (his first season starting over Charlie F).
NFL: Rams Titans Superbowl
NCAA: Emeka Okafor beats Duke in NCAA F4, Ricky Moore and Rip Hamilton defeat Duke in NCAA championship.
Soccer: Team USA ties Team Italy in World Cup (would have won if some numb nuts didn't get a penalty in the damn box with little time left)
Those are the biggest I can think of that I've experienced and can remember............
The Red Sox coming back from down three to get to the world series (and get the easy sweep against the scrubby cardinals) against the yankees was pretty crazy
Ian Johnson and Zabransky run the statue of liberty to beat OU and Adrian Peterson for Boise State.

In the spirit of this thread I figured this might be of interest. ESPN picked the "25 best games of the decade" and they are listed in reverse chronological order for people to vote on. OSU v. Miami 2003 is listed. I'd say Giants Super Bowl, 2006 Rose Bowl, OSU Game, Patriots v. Rams SB or Diamondbacks v. Yankees Game 7 2001 are my favorites. Link

you mean the 9 point comeback in 27 second game @MSG?
that was ridiculous (or was it an 8 point comeback and he scored 9 points....something like that)
