Meyer held Notre Dame hostage while Ron Zook "completed" the recruiting cycle. Then the Gators gave Zook the big shaft after Meyer figured out it would be easier to win at Florida.

Can't blame Notre Dame after losing out on Urban the way that went down,....

The guy Notre Dame really wants is Tressel, but I don't believe he is Catholic.

Thank You, God.

I didn't really remember the details of that situation. So Zook was recruiting for Meyer. If Kelly had held out there would have been no one recruiting at ND though. Not really an apples to apples comparison on my part. I guess you can't blame ND then.

I guess the only way these situations could be avoided is some kind of change in recruiting or moving the national signing day back, but I don't know if either of these are feasible at all.

You get THE kids by putting up THE big money,..that's why it's important to "be there."

IF you get THE kids, you earn your school THE big money.

Somehow, The Irish got away from that--mostly because they were getting big NBC money without having to perform,....that's why the BCS had to install "Domer" clauses--in case they ever got good enough again,....

It's all a business. Like everything else.

move signing day back to March 17th and enact a clause that colleges are not allowed to hire employed coaches until their entire season has ended. it should be feasible, but there would be much bellyaching along the way(march 15th is probably more apt, but most people wouldn't get the irony).

I a player wants to transfer from one school to another the NCAA requires him to sit out a year. Why shouldn't it be the same for a coach who's under contract?

Players reach for the NFL and coaches have their dreams also. I wish he would have went out with his guys in the bowl game but am sure he didn't want to enter ND with a loss as his last coached game.

I hope Cincy shreds the Gators for their own sake!

Cincy didn't have a chance before Kelly bombed them. Adding this to their psyche surely won't help. Maybe we'll see a no-out clause added to coaching contracts.
