I have no idea why the previous part 2 of the mid-season mock discussion was wiped, especially since the conversation was good!
Feel free to drop your mock drafts here.

I was hoping to see CDawg's reply to the post I threw up last night. To recount, he had provided a stat list that showed the Browns as 20th in rushing.
This he displayed as proof that our running game really wasn't THAT bad.
However, the list that put us at 20th was the rush yards per game. When you look at the Browns' yards per carry, we rank third last (tied). As such, our 20th ranking in rush yards per game just means we run poorly more often than others.

My reply to you was simple - it shows how bad our QB is and that by default, we have no choice but to run it.
Maybe we could keep it on topic and not start calling each other names... I'm guessing it was wiped b/c someone decided to start the name calling.

Name calling? I think I jokingly said you were a "clever monkey" for framing the stats as such but that hardly seems grounds for deletion.
Back to the discussion though...I agree with you that our problems at QB cause more runs. But the runs are not great runs....why? Well, there's a number of factors but unfortunately I believe one of them is that our running backs just aren't that good.
Like most Browns fans, I have hope for Jennings but let's be real...he hasn;t been a gamebreaker for us quite yet...nor as he demonstrated anything more than average talent. Harrison isn't it....I thought for awhile he could be but the dude is just too small for the AFC North and how our offense is run. Davis is a question mark....we don;t really know what he can bring.
Now, this draft isn;t great for running backs but if one of the higher ranked ones slips a round, I'm all for getting him. We need a legit back.

I don't know about DT, but I know I threw up in my mouth a little when seeing that.

I think Ammo already called dibs on it. Should I start sporting it now? I'd prefer to get it over with, so I can pimp my guy come draft time.

Come draft time and combine time, you will see just how inspirational Tebow is. He will will his way to benching 225 50 times and he will lead himself to a 4.1 40 yard dash. He can do it all you know.

I tell you what Deep since I'm such a nice guy I'll only make you have it until a month before the draft starts! That way you will still have time to pimp your guy. Although PM clutch and tell him that he doesn't have to make another sig and that I said thanks! Wear it with pride! http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b356/poto_fino/tebowsig2.jpg

Uh...probably Rolando McClain...
Maybe, MAYBE, Okung, but I don't like taking another LT that high.
you had a good run Hank.

I'm thinking McClain, G. McCoy (fit?), Morgan, reach on Bulaga as RT?
I like Dez Bryant too....but not sure I want to go with WR at #3

I have to buy a new TV because there'd be a hole in mine....and I'd be really mad at StL for not taking a QB.
then I'd slowly gather myself and hope we draft Haden (assuming we cannot trade down as you described)
McClain would not be a bad choice either.

j/c An article pertaining to OSU and draft eligibly juniors.
Ten Buckeyes considering early entry to NFL draft
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Chimdi Chekwa has a big decision coming up, and it's not what to get with that gift card to an electronics store.
The cornerback is among 10 Ohio State juniors who have filed paperwork with the NFL Collegiate Advisory Committee to find out their status for next spring's draft. The information is designed to help underclassmen determine if they should stick around for their senior season in college or if there is a market for their skills in the pros.
"I can't say I'm already assured I'm coming back," Chekwa said earlier this week as the Buckeyes prepare for their game against Oregon in the Rose Bowl. "I think I'm leaning toward coming back right now, but that's still a decision I have to make with my parents and people around me and my coaches."
Over the past few years, Ohio State has had between eight and 16 juniors who have requested the input of NFL scouts. The players typically receive a rough estimate of where they might go in the draft, then they sit down with parents, family members, friends and coaches to weigh the pros and cons. Some make the jump, others are content to come back for their final season of college ball.
"The decision, it starts now," said Chekwa, who is sixth among the Buckeyes in tackles. "Kind of looking into things, weighing your options, but ultimately it'll be after the bowl game."
A total of 10 Ohio State juniors have given up their last year of eligibility in the past four drafts, with 28 heading to the NFL after three years since Alonzo Spellman became the first to do so in 1992.
Coach Jim Tressel did not disclose the names of the juniors, but he did say they are starters. That would mean defensive ends Thaddeus Gibson and Cameron Heyward, linebackers Ross Homan and Brian Rolle, cornerbacks Chekwa and Devon Torrence, tailback Brandon Saine, wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher and offensive linemen Bryant Browning and Justin Boren.
The deadline for declaring for the draft is Jan. 15. Players can withdraw up to 72 hours after that.
This is expected to be a banner year of junior-eligibles in the draft, since there is speculation the NFL may put in a salary structure for incoming draftees in 2011.
Some of the biggest names in college football could make themselves available to be drafted early. They include: quarterbacks Jimmy Clausen (Notre Dame), Sam Bradford (Oklahoma), Jevan Snead (Mississippi) and Ryan Mallett (Arkansas); running backs Jahvid Best (California), Jonathan Dwyer (Georgia Tech) and Joe McKnight (USC); and wide receivers Golden Tate (Notre Dame), Dez Bryant (Oklahoma State) and Arrelious Benn (Illinois).
The most valued Ohio State juniors are the defensive end bookends, Heyward and Gibson. Heyward, the son of the late former NFL running back Craig "Ironhead" Heyward, leads the Buckeyes with 5.5 sacks. Gibson is next in line with 4.
"I've gotten a little bit of an early indication and shared it with the kids," Tressel said of the information he's received. "We tried to do that before they went home for Thanksgiving. The NFL was good and got us some early things (so) that way the kids could get home and talk a little bit with their folks."
Tressel said he will be having more discussions with both his juniors and the NFL over the next week to clarify the players' status.
Saine, the Buckeyes' leading rusher with 926 yards this season, said he is looking at all the data.
"I have no idea what I'm going to do yet," he said.
He added that all the information gives a player a window into what the pros think of them.
"Just an idea, see where you're at," he said. "It's kind of fun to compare with your teammates."
Chekwa said he hasn't made up his mind. But he added that if the Rose Bowl is his last game in an Ohio State uniform, he feels he accomplished a lot.
"My years at Ohio State have been pretty good," he said. "I think I've progressed as a person and on the field. I did a pretty good job so far."

Found this one interesting as well, pertaining to Jerry Hughes. Be nice if he fell to us in round 2, and we actually took him.
Draft status of TCU's Hughes may have slipped
TCU defensive end Jerry Hughes has said repeatedly that he decided to stay at TCU for his senior season instead of jumping to the NFL because he wanted to win a Mountain West Conference title.
Hughes not only helped the Horned Frogs to their second-ever Mountain West title, but also the school’s first undefeated season since 1938 and the school’s first-ever BCS bowl appearance.
But in trying to help his team achieve its goals, Hughes might have slightly hurt his own future endeavors.
Hughes said this summer that the NFL’s College Advisory Committee evaluated his play and considered him a late first-round or early second-round pick. But ESPN.com’s Todd McShay doesn’t have Hughes in his first round mock draft which he released Tuesday. Hughes also isn’t listed among Scouts Inc.’s Top 32 players.
He is, however, listed on Mel Kiper's Big Board at No. 23.
According the ESPN.com’s NFL Draft Tracker, Hughes, who is listed as an outside linebacker, is considered the sixth-best outside linebacker in the draft. He’s the No. 65 player overall.
However, if you go by McShay's rankings, there is hope for Hughes as a potential second-round pick. McShay has four outside linebackers listed in his first-round mock draft -- Texas’ Sergio Kindle is the first at No. 13, Penn State’s Navorro Bowman is No. 16, North Carolina’s Bruce Carter is No. 18, and Clemson’s Ricky Sapp is No. 25.
Missouri’s Sean Weatherspoon and South Carolina’s Eric Norwood also are listed ahead of Hughes, and whether Hughes is taken in the second or third round depends on the needs of the teams drafting.
Hughes is not even the highest-ranked player from a nonautomatic qualifying school. Idaho offensive guard Mike Iupati earned that spot as the No. 43 overall player. Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews, who is a junior and has yet to determine whether he’ll leave school, is ranked No. 45. Boise State cornerback Kyle Wilson is ranked No. 54.
Hughes is a consensus All-American for the second consecutive season, but his numbers are down from where they were a year ago. He has 11.5 sacks and 15 tackles for loss heading into the bowl season. Last year, he had 19.5 tackles for loss and 15 sacks. All of his sacks in 2008 were solo.
The only knock in Hughes' draft profile is his height (6-foot-13/4) and his bulk (252 pounds) which are described as adequate and marginal.
Obviously, this is a rough mock draft. The bowl season has yet to start and we all know that draft projections tend to change after the NFL combine in February. But this gives us all an idea of where certain players might fall in April.

in the 2 TCU games I saw, he was comparable with Kindle. I prefer Kindle because I know more about him, but I know there are some that tout Hughes as a better prospect.
either would be a very good OLB addition to our team.

Really interesting read on Hughes...

Thanks for the article. It would be nice if he was there in the second, but I'd still rather have Graham. I'd be happy with either one, though.
Todd McShay is not very credible to me.
No to Kindle. No, no, no to Kindle. The guy just misses too many tackles. I was at the UT-Colorado game and he looked bad way more often than he looked good. He was maybe the fifth or sixth-best player on that defense. Maybe. Against Colorado. No thanks. Muckleroy, both Achos, Earl Thomas, and that other LB whose name escapes me were clearly better players.
Give me a guy like Brandon Graham who lives in the backfield and is a high-motor guy over a physically-gifted coaster like Kindle.

Well, ... we'll "reload" like always, but losing ten juniors is no way to start a Title run. There is a learning curve,....
Chekwa,...I love Chimdi, he plays his heart out, but is slightly inconsistent at times.
Boren ain't goin' nowhere. He's a lineman,...been very serviceable this year,...hell he started after just making the transfer from Michigan.
Heyward has indeed said publicly he's gonna stay, but that doesn't mean anything.
And when you're talking NFL money, all bets are off, but I would like to be one of those Buckeye kids that says I was on the team one of those years where NOT ONE soul had ever lost to Michigan, and I helped continue that streak,...(my understanding is that this year was the first--supposedly there were a couple of medical red-shirts around last year that were on the roster in 2003.)
The kids owe it to themselves to inquire. That's how they were recruited in the first place.
I'm praying for this NFL rookie cap,...I think it will help college football be even better. Let alone push kids toward completing their degrees.

Chekwa is not very good...he's always face guarding and that won't work in the NFL. Heyward is a guy that I think would make a great 3-4 DE....Great as in always in the right spot, pretty good pass rusher, strong at the point of attack.
In regards to Kindle/Hughes...i've seen Kindle slip more then Hughes....in a lot of sites, he's in the 40-60 range instead of 20-35. Hughes I've seen consistenly in the 25-45 range
I'm coming home, I'm coming home, tell the world I'm coming home

I like Graham, but I'm not down on Kindle. Didn't see the Colorado game, so I will take your word on that one.
but in the games I have seen, he is a fierce pass rusher who has done decently against the run and has a very good motor.
my worries on Hughes is that he was just so much more gifted athletically than his competition, I am not sure how it translates.....was really hoping TCU would get Florida just for that aspect. oh well.

j/c. After searching for a sig I finally gave up and made my own. Not bad for a first ever me-created sig, especially since I have no art abilities whatsoever I'll be rocking it until draft time.

Arrelious Benn has declared for the draft. Is he any good? I know a lot of people on here are fans of the Big Ten , so I figured some of you would have an opinion on him. Quote:

Why not? The last WR we took at #3 worked out pretty well.

I'm tempting to go RT in Baluga or Okung right away (even know Anthony Davis out of Rutgers is someone else to watch to creep up too) just to really fix the OL and get ready to punch people in the mouth as we get ready for an angry ground game.

If we do get Holmgren and end up going to a WCO then I could MAYBE see taking Okung to play RT. If we stick to the run-to-pass offense I don't think he'd be a great fir on the right side. I think we'll win 1 or 2 more games (maybe 3, depending on how demoralized JAX is wk17) though putting us drafting after Detroit, and I don't see them passing on the only "franchise" tackle in the draft. I hadn't heard of the Iowa guy going this high until this thread. Is it that people didn't think he would come out? Is he shooting up boards? Or is it just this board over-hyping him? If we don't go for a top-10 playmaker type (Suh, Berry, McClain, Haden, Bryant, Morgan, etc...) I'd really rather try to trade back a few and maybe pick up another 3 (or 2 ) and take the whale around 15, rather than at 7 or 8.

probably just this board over-hyping him....probably partially my fault as I've been unabashed in my praise for him playing RT (he's the best OT that I think will easily make the transition to RT...the others are more pure LTs up there).
he was lower first round before the year....crept up to mid-1st round on most sites now that I've seen.
I think top10 is too high for him...he's a low-mid teen pick (I've suggested if we trade back to get the 49ers 2 picks, to get Haden and Bulaga).

I'd be really happy with that, especially if Berry was gone when our pick came around. Haden, Bulaga, Graham, Iupati, Selvie in the first 3 rounds?
