Did anyone notice the LG from Idaho, Iupati? The dude was a beast (granted against Bowling Green in the No Defense Bowl). He got tremendous push in the running game and seemed more athletic than I expected.

Yes, he's been the number 1 ranked OG since the beginning of the season.

i really want eric berry to become a cleveland brown. the safety can have such an impact on a defense that he's too good to pass up.

Agreed.

It's going to be an interesting spot at the top of both rounds. I doubt this guy falls but Gs sometimes do.

The one touchdown on the goal line he had was hilarious. He literally mauled two defenders on their asses and disturbed the path of a 3rd player to the ball. I'm hoping Holmgren (like his past acquisition of Hutchinson) gets his stud interior lineman to make real noise in the running game. If there were any way possible we ended up with Iupati AND somehow a RT like Williams or Davis (Okung I think would be perfect, but even more unlikely at this point to get him it seems but I could be out of date with the projections easily) I would need a towel.

Iupati with Mack and then having Thomas and Steiny on the other side...wow.

That is one hell of an OL.

Problem is we aren't going to draft him in the first round and by the time we get to our 2nd round pick he will most likely be gone. He would be a nice addition but most likely we are going to be in a dire need of a pass rusher. Whether that by a 3-4 OLD (B. Graham) or a 4-3 End.

I really really hope that we stick with the 3-4 but with Holmgrens background it seems inevitable we are going to do 3 things. 1) Acquire a New QB 2) Install the WCO and 3) Transition to a 4-3 which sucks

Go Browns!!

Tennessee S Berry says he's entering NFL Draft

ATLANTA (AP)—Tennessee safety Eric Berry is skipping his senior season and entering the NFL draft.

Berry said after Thursday night’s Chick-fil-A Bowl loss to Virginia Tech that he played his final college game.

Berry, the Jim Thorpe Award winner as the nation’s top defensive back, says he wants to help his parents “sit down and relax.”

The announcement was no surprise, as Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin said he expected to lose Berry. Berry, a junior from Fairburn near Atlanta, is expected to be a high first-round pick.

“I really did go over every possible situation and scenario,” Berry said. “I went over it with my coach, I went over it with my parents. Coach just told me this would probably be the best thing for me to do, just to go ahead and go to the draft.”

He had four tackles, including one for a loss of 6 yards, in the Vols’ 37-14 loss to Virginia Tech.

Berry was one of the last Tennessee players to exit the locker room and speak with reporters after the game.

“I kind of had to get myself together because I really don’t want to leave, but I feel like this is just something that I need to do to help my family,” Berry said.

“It was something that I could do to just let them sit down and relax and show them my appreciation for what they have done for me.”

Not a shocker, but glad its official. Listening to Scout.com's draft guy, Chris Steuber. He says Bradford is the most accurate QB scouts have seen in the last 15 - 20 years. Anyone interested can listen to it here.

I watched that game JUST because of him. Too bad I didn't do it for other reasons, because it was an amazing game

I'd only seen Idaho play once earlier this year, and I had no idea they had a highly-rated guard. I didn't notice him, so this was the only time I saw him play.

Gotta take one thing into consideration first with him: He was playing against Bowling Green, and as such, he was a man amongst boys. Being that he was one of the top-3 guards available in the 2010 draft, he SHOULD dominate those poor kids.

Here's what I saw....................

The Good:
For a guy his size (about 330) he was EXTREMELY light on his feet. You can't teach that kind of agility. He found the 'backers rather easily when getting to the second level, and when he did, he was good at locking on and pushing players around. He was very quick when setting up in pass protection. Again, that's amazing agility for a guy that big. For a tall guy he got good knee-bend and used his hands well. Several times he was asked to kick out on passing plays and pick up rushing ends or linebackers. He had no problems identifying them and setting his base. I also saw him make a run-block, push the guy out of the way, then turn and locate a second target. That means he has a good mind.

The Bad:
He's a raw kid that hasn't played football his entire life if I heard the announcers correctly, and it shows. A couple of times in pass protection he didn't have a guy to block. So he did what he was supposed to do, which was to step back, put his head on a swivel, and locate a rusher. He was kinda slow to recognize and react if he didn't have a guy right in front of him. That only comes with experience. When it did happen, because he was slow to react and set his base, much smaller players were able to get under his pads and shove him backwards. In the run-game, he tended to get a little lazy after a few blocks. He'd hit his guy, locate a second guy, hit him, then stop playing. That's usually a result of practices, where the running-back has hit the hole and is running down the field. When he gets to the NFL, coaches will fix that.

It's an over-used statement, but this kid REALLY has all the ability to be not just a pro-bowler in the NFL, but an all-pro. It just isn't seen to have a 6'6 330 pound guard with that kind of agility and quickness. They'll always have the power. They won't have the feet.

So what's the key with a guy like that? Coaching, pure and simple. It's not going to be a question of whether or not he'll get the coaching in the NFL. There's a false belief that some NFL coaches aren't good enough to teach the game. They all can. The real trick is whether or not Iupati is coach-able. If he is, he's a 1st-round talent. If he's not, then he becomes a gamble.

He's amazingly talented but raw. He'd get owned in the NFL right now. His ability to be coached will tell if he can step right in as a starting rookie, or if he's going to need a year or two. Playing at Idaho, he may think he's ready for the NFL, but he has no clue. He hasn't seen real players but maybe a dozen times in his entire career. In the NFL, he'll see one on every play.

I think he is going to have a Brandon Albert like rise. I think he's gonna be a top 15 pick, possibly drafted to play tackle. I'd love to have him at guard or tackle. It's amazing how quick he is for his size.

Very rarely is there someone that big who can be successful in a ZBS, but I think he definitely can.

I feel like this is tailored to what you want the Browns to do rather than what teams really will do.

Neither Bradford or Clausen are rated high enough to warrant a top 5 pick. And the Chiefs most glaring need is at the safety position.

I fully expect our first pick to be either an offensive of defensive linemen. I think our organization will be run very similarly to the Eagles and they build for the line out. I expect us to do the same.

Had nothing to do with the Browns. I'm far from the only person predicting those two picks.

The Chiefs offensive line is awful. Cassell has had no time to throw this year, and their run blocking is putrid.

I know it is a definite possibility but if the Jaguars are stupid enough to pick Tebow at #12 overall to play QB/Saviour all in the name of marketing/selling tickets, they'll deserve to lose their team when it fails completely.

Cant say I agree with that statement at all. Especially after reading scout reports on both. Just remember it only takes one team to make someone a top 5 pick, no one thought the Chiefs would take Jackson or think we would trade back as much as we did. At least one if not both will be taken in top 5.

Swap 6 and 7 and I'm good with it.

I watched that Tennessee game last night and I just wasn't that impressed with Berry, not for that high of a pick.

I, too, would love to see Okung at RT for us. Add Iupati somehow (via trade back up into the 1st or if he falls to the 2nd) for RG and I think we have the best offensive line in football for years to come.

If Spikes is not there in the 2nd round.. give me the Guard Iupati (sp?)... Our right side is garbage, and adding a RT in the 3rd round would be good as well.

I was watching him and Kam Chancellor of VTech, who is also a safety, that can lay wood like Taylor Mays.

The safety position, its hard to get a take on a guy with just one game. But Berry is special.

If Okung plays RT, he will bust. He gets very little push in the run game and is easily bull rushed. At left tackle, I like him, but I strongly feel he would fail on the strong side.

Turk, I don't think Iupati gets out of the top 15.

I like him a lot. I think he can be a perennial pro bowler there. The only thing that will hurt him is his lack of ability to play on the blindside.

I can't agree with him being a bust just because of being on the right side. His frame is really similar to JT and he's a better run blocker than you're giving him credit for. His athletic ability is an asset in both the running and passing game. With time to add strength up top and a bit more weight to that frame he'd be a stud at RT eventually, too. That's just the opinion of a former lineman who played guard at 175, though.

I think he's much more like D'Brickishaw Ferguson than JT (who is a great run blocker). D'Brick has had the same problem I mentioned on the left side, and would get absolutely annihilated on the right side.

I give you Alex Barron (who is much bigger and stronger than Okung at 325 pounds). He is much better on the left side than right due to his lack of power.

not sure if he's coming out as I believe he is a junior, but everytime i watch Ole Miss, Shay Hodge (WR) makes play after play. He catches the ball with his hands too and reminds me a little of Hines Ward

probably a 3rd-4th round prospect, but i like

I love this kid. If he was 5 inches taller he would be a 1st day pick. I would LOVE the Browns to draft this kid.

I wasn't impressed with Okung at all today........noway he can play RT.

I watched (3) UT games this year...and while looking for Berry, I rarely noticed him.

I am not doubting those who are high on him as I do not watch a ton of college football...however...it seemed other DBs were more prominent than Berry.

I need more convincing...especially when/if a top RT is sitting wherever we will pick.

The problem is the only OT worth a top 6 pick is Okung........and he isn't a RT at all.

I like Berry, but I am hesitant of drafting a saftey that high in the draft. People talk about TP and Reed, but the Rats and Steelers didn't reach for those guys, but drafted them in the 2nd half of the draft. If Berry were a pure CB (and I know he can play some there, but I mean sure fire shutdown guy) then I would be fine with it. However, I have a hard time passing on the top quality DL that should be available for a saftey.

I won't be mad if we get Berry, but I would prefer we get one of the big DTs at this point.

Do you think there is any chance that Suh is still there when we may pick?

Can McClain play in either a 3-4 or 4-3? Is he OLB or ILB in the NFL?

If we are forced to "reach" at our pick, at what position is the best reach?

I am not too happy with this year's draft potential for us. I do not like the QBs...I do not like not knowing if we are staying 3-4 or moving to 4-3.

I want a OL or DL but not if it's a reach.

Is Haden a better pick than Berry?

I am not a "draft guy" but I am more confused this year than ever in recent memory.

Your also assuming that we still play a 34 after Tuesday, and that's a pretty big assumption at this point.
If we are playing a 43 I would love to see Rogers and McCoy playing beside each other, and he's a no brainer pick. Simply put in the top 5 of the draft your looking for BPA who make the biggest impact on your football team. Berry is a great player, but because of the position he plays he just simply isn't as valuable compared to a dominant DL, CB, QB, or OL who carry a similar grade.

I love Berry, but I am very leery of taking a perimeter position that high. I won't be mad if we select him, but I will be kind of shocked if we select a safety that high with all of the interior needs we have.

I will also not be surprise if we look HARD at either Claussen or Bradford. MH said something in his presser that made me think he isn't liking what we have. If he likes either one of those 2 (maybe even Mallet, but he isn't a typical MH type of QB) then we will pick them if they are there.

This is actually a year I would love to trade down, because I really like the players slotted at 10-15, and the extra picks would be nice.

There's still tomorrow to be played out that will dictate where we end up in the draft rotation. Then we still have to see what direction Holmgren is going to lead us into the 2010 season. I'm certainly going to take a wait and see attitude towards this draft before I try to form any real opinions on who we should be taking. Or better said, who I would prefer we take, as I'm sure the pro's at this will have much better insight than I (the casual fan) will have.

I think that top 3 is pretty dead on... My only concern is that if both Suh and Berry are gone, then the Browns just may turn their card in with a QB's name on it.

I hope that doesn't happen, because I think Quinn has it in him to do well on this team, but as much as I like McClain, he is not worth drafting in or near the top 5.
