Tebow doesn't have that great of an arm, isn't that accurate, has a horribly slow release, and doesn't have to make any decisions. And besides, I think he'll go in the 1st.
It is possible that LeFevour won't even be drafted.
Hey, DT and I agree again! JAX is almost in the unfortunate position where they HAVE to take Tebow. Hopefully, for their sake, they trade out of the first to do it.
I was thinking some team would take a LeFlyer on LeFevour in the 5th-7th, but yeah not even drafted is a possibilty. I forget, when did Colt Brennan get drafted? Or was he UDFA?

Do you recall Brady Quinn's college completion percentage? It's all about the scheme. The spread does a lot to help players out.

I don't care it it is a value pick or not, getting a right tackle will not solve the problem that it is way too easy to pass the ball against the Browns.
Vs Minnesota it was too easy to pass the ball against the Browns at Denver it was too easy to pass the ball against the Browns IN the first Cincinnati game is was too easy to pass the ball against the Browns
In Every game since Detroit it has been the problem The Detroit lions had wayy too easy of a time passing against the Browns The San Diego game had Giant Breakdowns in defending the pass for the Browns defense Vs Pittsburgh the only reason they didn't have EVEN MORE passing is because Rothlesburger held the ball too long and the blitz worked, but the Pass defense was still a problem
Kansas City had way too easy a time passing the ball against the Browns The Raiders had way too easy a time passing against the Browns The Jaguars had way too easy a time passing the ball against the Browns
It is way to easy to complete a pass against the Browns, and it is fitting the last play of the last game was a pass completion for a touchdown.
Because the pass defense is unable to compete. Eric Wright is not the problem Mike Adams is not the problem. I think they shouldn't be looking into getting 11 players, but they should look to get 1 player at a time. They shouldn't look at 1000 college players, but they should look at one part of the Team they have, and 1 player, who can best be the hope to fix a problem, because draft picks are only hope anyway.
1 pick, 1 player, 1 problem to fix, 1 pick at a time.
Because even with 11 picks, you are only going to get about 2 players and 3 projects and 6 who don't work out. Is that historically acurate!

Quinn's college percentage was only about 60 per cent and peaked at 64. Tebow's average is around 66 and peaked at 68. With a longer completion average. And less picks. And against better competition week in and week out.

TL, I agree we could do a lot for our D by taking a corner. Taking Haden would improve our #2 CB and nickle spots.

I'd be good with Haden at 7 I think. Bump McArmtackle back to the nickel.

We need a shutdown corner or an Ed Reed, no doubt.
Watch how much better the defensive world is when you can run the ball for 200 yards a game.
Draft a RT.

There won't be a Joe Thomas at seven this year, so I would have to acquiesce and say no, depending on WHO "that" defender is at # 7 still on the board. The only 2 I would not sacrifice for a GREAT OLineman are Suh and Berry. Maybe Haden. If those 3 are gone,...who know's ?
I almost forgot, Crapshoot.

You don't draft an RT in the top half of the first round ... LT, yes ... but not RT. We can get a guy that's plenty serviceable at RT in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th round.

- Typically you don't draft a RT in the top ten, but if the BPA is a RT and we need a RT, take him. However I think there will be many more options @ #7 that will help us, and be higher rated than a RT.
-On Dan LeFevour; I like him as a later round pick, not top three rounds, imo. I do think he gets drafted, just too much talent to not draft at all, again imo.
Further, for those of you that have not watched him play (I have for the past three seasons, when ESPN showed weeknight games they were on); he will be playing Wednesday night @ 8pm against Troy. You can say its against a 'lesser opponent' but it will give those on here who haven't seen him a chance to watch him play. It could go a long way in where he gets drafted.
He will also be playing in the Senior Bowl, those practices leading up to the game are FAR more important than the combine, and should be a good chance to see how he is doing.
Statistics are like a bikini; what they show is interesting, but what they hide is vital. Drive for show (1st round), Putt for dough (rest of draft).

Also keep an eye on Troy's QB, Levi Brown, in that game. He has had a real good season and has been rising up boards. He is a later round, developmental type guy, from what I have read. I haven't seem him or LeFevour play all that much, so I am looking forward to checking out that game.

At 7 Suh is long gone. Very outside chance Berry drops but only because he is a safety. Not likely though. Presuming both are gone, my next choice would probably be Haden. The wild card in my mind is Derrick Morgan. He actually plays in tonight's game vs Iowa. This will give us a great chance to see him vs Bulaga. Only a junior but if he declares and we go to a 4-3 then I think he is the pick because we will need DE help. I am not sure how he would project as a 3-4 OLB.
Of course if Sam Bradford is available he very well might be the pick.
As for LeFevoure, I haven't seen him play but the biggest knock against him that I hear is his arm strength.

we better not take a tackle in the first round. There are plenty of quality RT's that will be available in rounds 2 or 3. We also need to get a guard with one of the 2nd or 3rd round picks.

Tonights a good chance to watch Derrick Morgan from GT vs. Brian Bulagula OT from Iowa. Both future NFL players IMO.
Also I want to draft Gabe Carimi in the 3rd or 2nd round. The kid is a stud run blocker.

What about the safety from Iowa....Reminds of Jim Leonhard in that he makes a lot of plays, returns punts, and of course is white....can't compare white vs black

Hard to say. He may not declare at all. I don't think he's been that great, but I've also been doing homework at the same time, so I haven't been watching too closely.

Kyle Calloway, Iowa's RT has been doing pretty good thus far. Been watching him a lot.
-As I type this I imagine that he probably just gave up some huge sack or penalty, because I am on TiVo and just started the 2nd half.

I know. He is a beast. Not flashy, just grinds the defender down each play. That's what I like about him, in addition to playing almost exclusively on the right side his entire career. He reminds me a little of Tucker, not saying they are the same, just reminds me of him. Watched him a lot this year, as I watched Iowa a lot due to their LB's Angerer and Edds, as well as junior Clayborne (& Calloway). I think Calloway could be a good pick late 2nd/early 3rd.
I also like Stanzi as a QB for the 2011 draft, mid-rounder.

Short fly-over of who the Lions could take @ # 2. Just found it a good look at the top names out there, minus QB, of which I don't think there are any 'top' ones.
Hayward is staying in school, so take him off the list. Derrick Morgan, as has already been said, is not looking overly impressive tonight (Bulaga has handled him thus far), and as I write this Stanzi just outran Morgan. Posted: Jan. 5, 2010 Looking ahead: Who could the Lions draft?
FREE PRESS STAFF
The NFL draft will be April 22-24, and the Lions have the No. 2 overall pick, after the St. Louis Rams. Here are some players the Lions could consider with that selection:
Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh: The Rams' GM said he's the best on paper at this point, but St. Louis could go for a franchise QB instead.
Tennessee S Eric Berry: He's compared to Ed Reed and would make a great tandem with Louis Delmas. Also has returned kicks.
Oklahoma DT Gerald McCoy: He's compared to Vikings Pro Bowler Kevin Williams and defends the pass just as well as the run.
Oklahoma State OT Russell Okung: Allowed one sack and two QB pressures, and anchored the ground attack that led the Big 12.
Georgia Tech DE Derrick Morgan: He's 6-4 and 268 pounds, and runs a 4.5 in the 40. A great first step. Watch him tonight in the Orange Bowl.
Maryland OT Bruce Campbell: He’s very strong and an exceptional athlete who has been called the Vernon Davis of offensive linemen. He’s 6-feet-7 and 310, and best at pass blocking.
Rutgers OT Anthony Davis: He’s a dark horse for No. 2, but the last two Rutgers players to forego their senior seasons were Ray Rice and Kenny Britt. Not bad.
Oklahoma OT Trent Williams: Versatile player made successful move from RT to LT this season. Played center in the bowl game because of a an injured starter.
Florida DE Carlos Dunlap: Stock of talented pure pass rusher likely drops due to DUI charge before SEC title game. Had four sacks vs. Cincinnati in Sugar Bowl.
Southern Cal S Taylor Mays: His stock was higher last season at this time but still possesses good speed and size (6-3, 230).
Ohio State DE Cameron Heyward: He might be a reach and might not even be an option if he returns for his senior season. Opened eyes with 11 tackles (two sacks) vs. Penn State.

Man what is all this talk about drafting a Right tackle. OK I'll admit they might not all be hall of famers, but with St Claire, and Womack, Fraley, and Hadnut, Mack Thomas, and Steinback There is no guarantee a new player is going to improve the continuity.
If anything I think a servicable replacement/prospect at guard, a true guard, might be a good pick up . What they could really use are some players who can block and tackle, kind of like Beau Bell, and Martin Rucker, who were so rudely not kept around. ( I had high hopes for both) I know this team neeeeeedddds playmakers at Wide Receiver, BUT! Imagine Mark Engram, or Tim Tebow, or Sam Bradford, Imagine somebody on offense, a "draft to strength" that would compliment who you have, and create a mismatch that actually gives the Browns an advantage.
Draft Engram, or Ingram, Keep Harrisson, Keep Vickers, Let Jennings, and Davis fight it out for the back up carries and move on to the NEXT NEED!
1 pick, 1 problem to fix, 1 player, 1 step at a time!

No...I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't the 2nd tackle taken after Okung. My money says Seattle takes him at 14.

I wasn't impressed with Morgan or bulaga tonight. Pretty pedestrian performance from both. The player of the game for me was that huge end iowa's got that was first team big 10 this year.

A RT won't come with the first pick..the BPA will either be Berry/Haden/McClain..I'm thinking Haden..too many other safeties in the draft, not enough skilled corners..so get the best one U can early.

Cam Heyward is returning to tOSU....Thad Gibson is not... he is going pro.
Where do you see Thad at in this draft. I absolutely love this guy's game. If we stay in the 3-4, I think he would fit nicely. He has Vern Gholston's strength, but fortunately doesn't have Gholston's size. Therefore, his transition to 3-4 OLB wouldn't be as hard as Gholston. Gholston is a DE playing OLB. The worst thing he did at the combine was run good enough for people to believe he could play outside. Gibson can drop back in coverage and he is very good laterally.
If we can grab him in Round 2, I am all for it. Berry, Bryant, Haden, or McClain in the 1st, Gibson in the 2nd, and RT in the 3rd... I think that addresses our most glaring holes....except for QB. I am not against drafting Clausen... he wont be there though.

I'm not really impressed with him..one thing to look at with college DE's and OLB who could be tweeners in a 34 what type of production did they have during their games? Were they a monster harrasing the QB? Did they have a lot of sacks? Did they set the edge(control the outside plays and force plays back inside? Did they have trouble shedding blocks? Do they make plays in the backfield? Can they drop in coverage if asked to do it,are they agile and have mobility to change direction and run with a back or TE? Thats what I look for with these types of players..and why some just don't make the transition.

There's talk of getting a right tackle because the right side of our line was a shambles this year. Having continuity doesn;t help if you continually suck.
Let's put some qualifiers on this though. The best thing we can do to help the RT tackle situation is to release St. Clair. Arguably the worst offensive lineman we've had since Barry Stokes or that fat guard we got from the Chargers.
Hadnot is a FA.... He wasn't good enough in my mind to bring back at starter money.
Womack was actually ok. I think our best right side was Fraley at guard and Womack at tackle.
We need to draft either a right tackle or guard in this draft...either to start or to backup and develop as Fraley doesn't have too much left in the tank (although he continues to play well at this point IMHO)

j/c,
With all the picks we have, we must draft a RG and RT. It's a must, and IMO is a given. There should be no debate about it. The ride side of our o-line was exposed throughout the season, both pass and rush blocking. We need help. I'd rather not use a 1st round pick on a guy, but wouldn't hesitate to turn in a linemans card come round 2/3.

You just saved me a fair amount of typing. The right side of the line must absolutely be fixed. My preference is to get the RG in FA and the RT in draft. If Okung, is there at 7.. grab him. I'd give consideration to Anthony Davis or Bryan Bulaga as well.
The only other thing that approaches my level of concern is corners and safeties. I'd be a big fan of getting our own Polamalu. Taylor Mays or Joe Haden would make me sit down and think.
After that.. linebackers and lots of them.. or possibly DT.. maybe Gerald McCoy

Absolutely agree....Our roster right now is devoid of young linemen apart from THomas and Mack. I think we only take one in the high rounds though as Womack is decent at guard or tackle and Fraley probably has another year of decent guard play in him.

Happy Birthday!
I think besides getting two offensive lineman in this year's draft, we have to get two safeties as well.
Pool is done. He's concussions will have him play the game from a different prospective (atleast I think so). Furrey is not a safety. We would have been better off having Cribbs out there. He was a target at all times. Elam can hit.. but thats about it. He can't cover, and he's always a step behind the WR or TE.
Give me Berry in the 1st, linemEn in the 2nd and 3rd, and then add another safety somewhere within the remaining picks.
I'm actually okay with our corners and lb's. Of course a LB like Spikes or McClain would be a huge boost, considering they would be playing next to D'Qwell and playing behind Shaun Rogers (if he stays at NT).

I saw the talent that makes him a top-10 guy. He's active and strong. He doesn't look disciplined, as he appeared to be playing like a guy who is expected (or expecting of himself) to make every play, creating a situation where he was out of position too often. He looked very Gerrard Warren in that regard, and Imean that in terms of what he did here as a Brown, where he'd eschew gap-responsibilities for penetration and disruption. I have no idea if that was by scheme or otherwise.
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***
