"Hangover" is the only one of these I have seen. Though it was hilariously funny, I do not possess much of a sense of humor and only busted out a couple of times.

Not a moviegoer, at least not new ones.

Voted for Harry Potter because that movie was awesome.

I hate voting other, but if you would've had Avatar on there, it'd get my vote hands down.

Only saw two of them....both on DVD. I had to vote Star Trek. I have Inglorious Bastards and The Hangover at the top of my Netflix queue though.

I have seen:

Angels and Demons
Transformers 2
The Hangover
Star Trek
Inglorious Basterds
GI Joe
Taken
Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince
Night at the Museum 2
I love you Man
The Proposal
Wolverine
Up
A Christmas Carol
Watchmen
Monsters Vs. Aliens
Ice Age 3
Chance of Meatballs

Wow, didn't realize I watched that many movies this year. Most of them cost me $1(Redbox) or nothing(library).

I thought they were all pretty good, A Christmas Carol had a funny end but was weird.

IMDb says the release date of "Gran Torino" was 9 January, 2009. That could mean the DVD release, but I saw that this year too--it's not on the list though.

I can't vote. I haven't seen a movie at the theatre for 2 years, I think!

I know how you feel,...both of the 2 I mentioned above were seen AT HOME PPV,....I cannot stand being subjected to the adolescent whims of a theatre crowd.

The wife and I have a standing agreement,...if she has to have the "Big Screen aura" of a theatre in order to enjoy a movie, then I get to increase the size of every new TV we buy in the future,....she goes a lot by herself, with our son, or the neighbor gals. She knows I won't even get in the car.

Now, if you want to go down to The Grand Strand, be able to get a beer, good popcorn, and watch Ohio State on a huge screen, that's a horse of a different color.

On thread, and in agreement with you, I do not need a theatre to enjoy a great movie.

Taken, Star Trek, and Watchmen top my list for 2008.

People actually voted for Wolverine? Really? I mean Really? Movie was atrocious.Majority of the good movies released in 2009 arent even on this list, its more of a blockbuster hype machine list as opposed to the great movies of the year.

I voted other. I haven't seen any of those, and haven't heard of at least half of them.

In case you didn't know, I'm not much of a movie guy.

Hangover

When I saw that for the first time, I had stomach pains afterward from laughing so hard.

Everyone has different taste bud....I voted for Wolverine because i grew up reading the comics, playing with the toys, and loved the X-Men movies all 3 of them, got all the animated series on DVD, and have Wolverine on blu-ray....I really enjoyed the movie, you didnt....not the end of the world! So yes I REALLY, I MEAN REALLY did vote for it

I used to go to the movies once a week in college, then maybe once a month after graduating from college.

Now with a kid, I go once a year.

The only movie I have seen in the theater this year was Orphan. Wasn't on your list, but i enjoyed it a lot.

Ditto on Orphan , I thought that movie was flat out excellent. It was just a great thriller/horror all together; and it did generate well at the box office also.

Really?

I just watched it tonight .... and it was OK ..... but most of the gags and jokes were redone and repeats ....

I also thought that the outcomes at the end were pretty typical "buddy comedy" formula.

It had its moments .... but was far from being the best movie of the year for me.

I thought it was funny and worth watching but my friends hyped it up so much, it had no chance of living up to the expectations.

For the record, I saw it this week.

I forgot about Orphan. Pitty, because horror films don't really bother me but for some reason this one really prickled my spine..

I thought Hangover was very funny....but I was entirely disappointed that they did not bring up Mike Tyson's pigeon farm.

the most fearsome heavyweight fighter of this generation raises pigeons...that is flatout comedy gold right there and is true, yet they ignored it.

That's a tough one.

Let's see....

I loved:

Star Trek
Inglorious Basterds
Taken
Watchmen
and I recently saw Avatar, which really impressed me

I can't pick just one...

The Hangover was for sure the best movie I've seen this year. Law Abiding Citizen deserves an honorable mention.

I agree with Avatar. Took my son to see it in 3D, just fantastic. Great story, great graphics.

I couldn't even get halfway through Avatar. That movie was so dumb. A bunch of tree hugging aliens and Giovanni Ribisi playing the stereotypical corporate thug looking to rape the land for its "valuable resources."

It all played out so typical. Its like a movie that you have seen thousands of times, but this time its packaged with crazy cgi or whatever.

Definitely not in a best of... type class.

I took my 11 year old son to see Avatar 3D and we both loved it. I guess I forgot the potential political implications and just loved the story, the 3D gorgeous graphics and the fact that it was a movie I could take a child to, without worrying about excessive violence, bad language etc...

Yup, I agree.

Avatar has a very unoriginal story. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they got sued. With that said, they nailed the whole package. Of all the copies, this was the best version. I ended up giving if 4 out of 5 stars. And I would recommend it to my 9-year old nephew and my parents.

Of these, I only laid out money to see The Blind Side. The wife and I thought it was fantastic, as did our friends who saw it. But we're in our mid-50's and I think the movie has the most appeal to our age group.

I am glad to hear that, 214. Neither of my sons, nor my step-son have gone to see it. They range in ages from 22 to 26 and I figure they are more attracted to films featuring action, special effects or raunchy comedy.

I have only seen a few on that list but my vote would be for Angels and Demons. I was looking forward to seeing Public Enemies for a long time since I love mobster movies but was kinda disappointed.

Tops on my list for this year would be "Moon", "Start Trek", and "Harry Potter." Oh yeah, I even liked "Watchmen" too!
