Despite a season of extreme disappointment, Browns fans have at least one reason to feel good.
Actually, two of them.
Per a league source, left tackle Joe Thomas has been named to the AFC Pro Bowl roster for the third time in three NFL seasons.
Also, receiver Josh Cribbs will make his second Pro Bowl appearance. He previously made it onto the roster in 2007.
Now if the Browns could only get a few more players like these two, they might be able to turn things around.
The Pro Bowl rosters officially will be unveiled at 7:00 p.m. ET Tueday, on NFL Network.

now i remember reading the afc north blog on espn citing players from each team that "should" make the pro bowl and they named thomas and cribbs. don't know if florio is using that as his source but not surprised if both make it.

That is some welcomed, good news. I did expect both to make it but I did worry about them being from a losing team and someone else being named.

With the Pro Bowl being moved to the week before the Super Bowl, players on those teams are basically out, which is certainly going to open more spots for the also-rans of the league.

Joe is so good, you never see pressure from the left.
it's hard to believe we had verba, that one dude savage got when verba went crazy, and necktie on the left side.
We're trying to throw the ball downfield and he checked the ball down to Trent Richardson and the Indians on the choice.

cleveland.com reporting it too: Quote:
BEREA, Ohio -- Despite only four wins on the season, the Browns will send at least two players to the Pro Bowl.
They are receiver and return specialist Josh Cribbs and left tackle Joe Thomas, a league source confirmed.
It's Cribbs' second Pro Bowl selection and Thomas' third in three years.
The Pro Bowl is played this year the Sunday before the Super Bowl in Land Shark Stadium in South Florida.
Official announcement of all NFL Pro Bowl selections will be made at 7:15 tonight

He was the leading fan-vote getter at Safety for the AFC.... hopefully his peers and coaches saw through the B.S. and don't hand that to him like they've done for so many years with Ray Lewis.

Just seen the show on NFL Network...no Polamalu and not one single Bengal.
GO BROWNS!! If you're a real fan, gut-wrenching defeat is not something you discard a team for -- it's something that fuels your lunatic devotion.

the afc pro bowl roster Quote:
Quarterbacks: Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, and Tom Brady made it. Ben Roethlisberger has a good argument that he deserved the final spot.
Running backs: Chris Johnson, Maurice Jones-Drew, and Ray Rice are in. Great picks because they are all versatile. Cedric Benson's injury ultimately cost him a chance.
Wide Receivers: Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Brandon Marshall, and Wes Welker made the team. Randy Moss has something else to be grumpy about. Although Vincent Jackson may have a bigger beef.
Tight ends: Dallas Clark and Antonio Gates. This is amazingly Clark's first Pro Bowl. He should send Scott Pioli and a thank you note for trading Tony Gonzalez to the NFC.
Tackle: Jake Long, Ryan Clady, and Joe Thomas. There are other deserving players like D'Brickashaw Ferguson, but it's hard to argue with this trio.
Guard: Logan Mankins, Alan Faneca, and Kris Dielman. Faneca has become the poster boy for making the Pro Bowl on reputation rather than production.
Center: Nick Mangold and Jeff Saturday. Mangold could be the Pro Bowl starter for a long time.
Defensive end: Robert Mathis, Dwight Freeney, and Mario Williams make it. I wouldn't argue if the two Colts were the All Pro starters.
Interior Lineman: Haloti Ngata, Vince Wilfork, and Casey Hampton. Shaun Rogers should have made it, even with his injury.
Outside Linebacker: Elvis Dumervil, James Harrison, and Brian Cushing. An amazing accomplishment by the rookie from Houston and well deserve.
Inside Linebacker: Ray Lewis and DeMeco Ryans.
Cornerback: Darrelle Revis, Nnamdi Asomugha, and Champ Bailey. A Bengal should have gone over Bailey! We'd say Jonathan Joseph.
Free safety: Ed Reed, Jairus Byrd.
Strong safety: Brian Dawkins. No argument with the safety picks.
Punter: Shane Lechler
Placekicker: Nate Kaeding
Kick Returner: Josh Cribbs
Special Teamer: Kassim Osgood.

-tom brady? seriously? -surprised joe thomas isn't a starter. -not on the pft one but following the link they use, which is nfl.com, leron mclain is the fullback pro bowler. i think vickers deserves to be there but i wonder if leron is benefitting from having more name because he had a lot of carries last season -mangini's mangold is in another pro bowl
<edit>
and no bengal in the pro bowl!

Maybe the NFL wants to attract more female viewers and give them some eye-candy. If that's the case, maybe Quinn should've made it? Woohoo for Cribbs and Thomas! Well deserved, indeed.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

3 Pro Bowls in ALL 3 years? I don't care who pimped Adrian Peterson or how many times they pimped him, I LOVE this pick for us. Barring any unforseens, JT will be a Pro Bowler for years to come. How long will "All Day's" career last?
Cribbs: no-brainer. All homerism aside, there simply isn't another more versatile, athletic, dynamic player in the league right now. Dude belongs in Hawaii....AFTER he's been inked for The Money.
These two are the kinds of players you pay and keep.
Congrats to both Browns players on well-deserved honors.

Well, maybe he can go after he plays in the Pro-Bowl. It's in Miami this year

Yeah, this year they're doing it in the same location as the Superbowl and it's being played the week before "The Season Ending Big Game." Stupid, if you ask me.

I believe the coaches pick a "specialty" player, for lack of a better word, on their own later. I think that's how he made it before.
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

LOL. That's why people look different, I guess...so we can all be attracted to different looks. And, don't get me wrong, I think Tom Brady is cute, just not drop-dead sexy.
Congrats to our guys...I'm proud of 'em!

I'm disappointed in the RESERVE inclusion of JoeT instead of starting status. Lets face it...this is primarily a peer driven vote. And so many unless they simply face JoeT...of the NFL players rely on two sources. ESPN and NFL NETWORK for their data base in their decisions.
Long...who has played well has been getting over propped by Eisen due to his Michigan Alumnus. And both ESPN n NFL Network went way gaga over Clady (again who is doing well) at the beginning run that Denver made...what was not stated was the breakdowns by Clady during their losing streak. Combine that with the loving respect any Brown's player gets from those two Venues (well actually they have taken Cribbs under their wing only to diss our franchise with the PAY THE MAN campaign...as if we won't). Its amazing that JoeT actually made the Pro Bowl...I was surprised cause he doesn't get any of the props he deserves from those two venues that a lot of the players watch. Especially the NFL Network...heck Dieon last year had these guys holding the ball up with their hand behind their heads strutting in the endzone! So don't tell me they don't influence the common player!
But neither Clady nor Long...Iced the guys that JoeT has.
I know one thing. I know who Jared Allen voted for

Laugh now, Josh, but if Savage would have had just one other idiot in the war-room with him three-years ago, you would have had the QB's equivalent of LJ Shelton playing QB: Jamarcus Russell Thank GOD Savage didn't have any more opportunities to screw us. He only took Thomas because he didn't have any support for taking the guy he really wanted in JaMarcus.
Talk about dodging a bullet *L*

Words can't express the thoughts, feelings and respect I have for Joe Thomas as a player, a team member, a man, and a human being. He is by far the brightest shining star that the Browns organization has to their credit over the past ten years. Mark my words, we will see that young man's bust in Canton.
Congratulations, Joe!
Josh? Man? What do you eat for breakfast? You, too, Josh are a man amongst men and I sure do hope someone in the F.O. steps up and does you right once and for all. You've got heart, guts, gumption and integrity. It's a pleasure just seeing you out there waiting for that kickoff or punt to happen. What a rush!
Congratulations, Josh!

Odd? I don't remember reading the names K. Winslow II or B. Edwards any where on the All Pro roster? Was there some kind of mistake?
Never have hope. You won’t be disappointed.
