Fixed your typo

I had a friend of mine try to convince me Wayne was the best rapper in that song

It's more like:

1. Shady
2. Drake
3. Kanye

4. Wayne - only because I had to put him somewhere

I agree with that order. I'm a big fan of Kanye though. He might be a douche, but I like his music lol.

Never been a fan of Jay Z. Half of his rhymes are stolen from Biggie. Never liked his flow/voice either.

Same here. Use to make my cousin mad because I said he sounded like Steve Erkle rapping.

Wow....can you say Carlos Mencia of the rap industry???? I never liked Lil Wayne or the whole "Hot Boys" garbage. All of it was poppy stuff. No lyrical talent what so ever. Nothing but Club music beats with whiny/raspy rapping that made no sense.

Wow. Go listen to Em's new freestyle called "Despicable"...

It just shows why he's the greatest rapper alive.

One line he says, "Get rowdy as Roethlisberger in a bathroom stall"

Yea, I heard that

His new single is out, "Not Afraid." Pretty good song, not his typical first single type of song.

I don't listen to much rap anymore but I use to really lke Eminem... hsi lyrics tell good stories, usually funny, and I like his beats.

I always loved DC Talk as well - Christian Rap group...

I'm getting a kick out of B.o.B. right now. Good flow. I just got exposed to K'wann (SP?) and he has stuff to say.
I agree lil wayne may not have anything worthwhile to say, (and didn't realize he stole so much stuff). But he flows well and his space ship angle is too strange. I still like him but that link changed what I thought of him.

I still like Jay-Z. New York Frame of mind.

Really enjoying B.o.B's album. Granted its more of a hip hop record and is extremely radio friendly, but I am still enjoying. His mixtapes are better rap albums.

What?!? No MC Chris or Weird Al?!!?

I'm surprised Dre isn't on there ... but the top two have to be Tupac and Em, with BIG just behind, and nobody else even close. Tupac set the gold standard for rap ... but Eminem is just a crazy-good wordsmith who can really spit out lyrics.

I disagree. Biggie is the best rapper to ever live. And here's why...

Pac and Biggie both rapped with a lot of emotion, and made you feel their emotion. However, Pac forces it on you with his tone, while Biggie's flow is smoother.

You hear Pac's emotion, but you feel Biggie's without necessarily hearing it, if that makes sense.

Oh, and I can't wait until Em's "Recovery" comes out. He's back to the old Eminem, not that MTV phase he went through, and he admits it.

Listen to the song that leaked from Recovery called "Not Afraid". One of the lyrics in the song...

"And to the fans, I'll never let you down again, I'm back
I promise to never go back on that promise, in fact
Let's be honest, that last Relapse CD was "ehhhh"
Perhaps I ran them accents into the ground, Relax, I ain't going back to that now"

That's exactly why I enjoyed Pac the most- the emotion. You feel every word he says. Pac > Big

This.

Pac and Biggie were the best no doubt, i just always loved the energy from listening to 2pac songs. The guy was a lyrical mastermind and made you feel the emotion of his raps.

Personally, I have always felt that 2pac was way, way way overrated. He started out as a back-up dancer for Digital Underground---then after gangster rap hit; he was suddenly gangsta, gangsta.

I never thought his lyrics, delivery, or playlist was anything spectacular.

He was more Hollywood than anything.

I think Big L would be ruling rap today if he wasn't gunned down. That cat could rap. His freestyles are legendary. A street lyricist in the mold of Biggie.

I will say I am partial towards east coast MC's.

I just never liked much outta the west. Maybe J5, Snoop, Planet Asia, The Coup, Too Short, NWA.

But Pac never resonated with me.

I could not imagine a best rapper, or a worst rapper for that matter.

But then again, I never ever bought a rap album or CD in my life, and have no intention to start now.

Sorry, If I have offended anyone....I just love rock and roll!

PEACE

So why waste the time to give an opinion? Why not just not click on the thread, and not waste your time with it? You're not going to buy a rap CD ever, and you're never going to start. I'm glad we know that now, we were worried you might buy a set of 15's and start rattling house windows with the new Rick Ross CD.

I have to admit, I liked that one.

And hey who didn't like ice ice baby back in the day? Don't lie, this wasn't said completely in jest.

This dosen't fit into the best rapper category by any stretch of the imagination. I just miss this type of style, how they worked together as a group.

Guys like Snoop are partly to blame because they used to have that old school west coast vibe but switched over to MTV crap. I miss groups like Public Enemy because songs like Fight The Power sky rocketed that type of music.

Don't worry, I'm still bangin that old stuff through my 12's. And the best thing is that it has a different, and louder boom.

Out of your list; I went with Snoop, Pac, and Ice Cube. Cube was a badass way back when, now he acts in kids movies...

You didn't let me vote on the best one.

It's Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest. Hands down.

And look at all the fogies in here sounding like my parents did in 1984 when they first heard Run DMC.

Easily in the top 5 of biggest sell outs in entertainment history. I saw a pic of him w/ NWA the other day and then saw him acting like an idiot in a preview for some new movie starring Bow Wow.

Just thought, "what in the heck HAPPENED???"
