I'm still baffled as to WHY Grandmaster Flash AND Run DMC are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? The only part of rock and roll that exists with rappers is when they quote, "SAMPLE" unquote other artists music to put into their attempt at creativity. And most get sued for their efforts. Obviously they'll never learn.
Clearly this was a Jann Wenner move on both. He bumped the Dave Clark Five, a main component to rock and roll's british invasion, to put a rapper no less in even though the DC5 won the vote that year. Wenner covered his own ass by inducting the DC5 in the next year.
Rappers need to stay out of the rockhall...JMO.

Foreigner's not in, but Aretha Franklin is.
The Moody Blues aren't in, but Grandmaster Flash is.
Stevie Ray Vaughn's not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ....... but Madonna is.
Iron Maiden's not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ..... neither is Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Cheap Trick, and yes, Kiss has been skipped over .... but the Beastie Boys are in.
Ridiculous. If this was the "Entertainer Hall of Fame", or the "Music Performer Hall of Fame", then that would be fine ...... but it's not. This is supposed to be the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Wow, didn't know any of that but after reading it, the hall must be an absolute joke.
Deep Purple really needs to be in....Ritchie Blackmore was an innovator on guitar and is rated as one of the great all-time guitarists by his peers. Jon Lord (who passed away this past week RIP) was an amazing talent that took rock keyboards to a whole different level. Ian Gilliam was a great vocalist with remarkable range. (David Coverdale took over vocals in the early 70s when Gilliam assumed the starring role in Jesus Christ Superstar.) As a band they've written legendary rock classics that have stood the test of time.

You might not like Foreigner or Frampton, but that doesn't mean that they weren't more influential and important rock and roll acts than Madonna ..... or Run DMC ..... or any other of the "non rock and roll" bands or acts in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I thought it was funny that people invaded the rapper thread to talk about how rappers and other non rock-n-roll acts shouldn't be in the rock-n-roll hall of fame. Then, you (rightfully) asked them to not talk about rock-n-roll-related topics in the rap thread.

Well, since it's already been hijacked.... they should have taken a hint from the Country Music Hall of Fame... every inductee that I could find, wrote, sang, produced, or was in some other way very influential to COUNTRY MUSIC.

I'm sorry. I'm just pretty indifferent to the RRHOF and who gets in and who gets snubbed..... maybe that's why I found it more funny than insulting. I do find it ironic that we have Miss Black America pageants and all sorts of other awards specific to black people but Rap Music doesn't have its own HOF...

Hey, I was only wondering why rappers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? It's bad enough when the likes of ABBA are in there, but rappers? WHY??? Yeah, let's "sample" somebody else's rock and roll song riff and turn it into a "rap hit." Brilliant!!!

There are 2 new Deftones songs on youtube, live versions only that they have played once or twice on tour, but they are both, really really good. I know there are a few Deftones fans in this forum.
