Suh will absolutely be gone by pick #7. Berry will probably be gone as well. I really think our pick will be either Joe Haden or Sam Bradford. Unfortunately in this draft both are gone. So I try to trade down. With no decent trade offers I am forced to pick at #7 and choose:

#7 Dez Bryant wr okst. I really don't like the thought of a Wr this high but he is a playmaker which we need and with a top 10 pick you need to find a difference maker. He is the biggest difference maker I see still on the board.

#40 Donovan Warren cb michigan

#69 Mike Johnson og alabama

#84 Greg Jones lb mich st

#102 Anthony Costanzo ot boston college

#130 Jeremy Beal OLb Okla - Clutch, you sold me on him

#135 Montario Hardesty Rb Tenn

#148 skip - not many names left to choose from and I haven't look this deep into the draft to come up with names on my own.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if we drafted either of those guys, but I'm not even close to be able to limit it down to those two. I think McClain is very possible, as is Dez Bryant. I would be fine with any of them but Bradford really.

Unfortunately the only video I can find of Beal is a high school video, but watch how fast he gets into the backfield.

Most of his opponents couldn't even slow him down. Of course being a HS highlight reel I would hope that was the case. The play that impressed me was the one with the play action fake. He was in position to tackle the Rb, he showed good awareness to recognize the fake then he changed direction on a dime.

McClain in the middle along with DQ...thoughts?

Although I'm beginning to wonder if McClain would even be taken by us since we've got a high pick invested in Veikune.

In a perfect world Veikune shows enough growth during OTA's that Joe Haden becomes a real possibility. Pairing him with E-Wizzle would be a HUGE upgrade to our cornerbacks.

There's still a long way to go but my first round wishlist is basically: Berry, McClain, Spiller, Haden. Berry and McClain are 1 and 2 with Spiller and Haden as 3a and 3b.

Veikune is good as gone. He is own new Leon Williams with less talent. New Chaun Thompson with less athleticism. He sucks and cant play just like Bea Bell, Ben Taylor, list goes on.

7: CJ Spiller. RB, Clemson. BPA IMO. (If Clausen is still there, he would be a good lever for a trade down, even just one spot with the Raiders.)

40: Brandon Ghee, CB, Wake Forest. Sheesh, just missing out on Iupati here.

69: Tyson Alualu, DT, Cal. Just missing on a couple players I like at this spot too.

84: Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin. JT's successor for the Badgers.

102: Major Wright, FS, Florida. Don't see him on this list. I guess he hasn't declared yet? I feel like I'm cheating here. heh.

130: Myron Rolle, SS, Florida State. Don't see Myron on here anywhere either. Cha-ching.

138: Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, South Florida.

148: Sergio Render, G, Virginia Tech.

I'm still hot over that waste of a pick. Total bonehead call.

O.k,we're going to keep pounding draft stuff until we get a draft forum up all year long..
Now you wanna be GM's go into the link ...look at the 5 round mock, and look the selections made for the Browns..now look at any player chosen below their pick if you don't like the current selection and change the pick then post it here..
You cannot choose a player taken above the Browns picks..but any player chosen below..so U can take a player a round earlier if you want..I know some of you will be off the hook but whateva..now have at it..

7: Taylor Mays – S, USC
Also considered: Jared Odrick (huge reach, I know)

If Berry and Haden are gone, top priority becomes trading down. However, in the interest of fairness, I’ll plant at 7 and take Taylor Mays. He fills the intimidator role at safety which has proved vital in both Baltimore’s and Pittsburgh’s defenses. Basically, you give a physical monster to Rob Ryan and let the boys loose. Brodney might be out with concussions, Abe Elam was serviceable at best. Mays fills a need and is decent value at this spot.
If I’m able to trade down, I’m looking directly at Jared Odrick or Mike Iupati. Both are big, mean men who will pop opposing lineman in the mouth. Odrick shows good ability to press off his man, while also flowing with the play and driving his man in the direction of the ballcarrier. Occasionally over-pursues, but may be due to scheme (was a 3 technique at Penn St.). Incredibly high motor, loves the game.

40: Golden Tate – WR, Notre Dame
Also considered: Jason Fox

No way does Golden Tate make it this far, but playing by the rules I snatch him up in a heartbeat. Jon Dwyer played in a triple-option, and while strong, isn’t terribly explosive. Tate adds an explosive element at WR that can’t be matched by anyone currently on the roster. Previously played running-back, he displays strong hands and excellent run-after-catch ability. Tough guy with a level head at WR, reminds me a lot of Wes Welker.

69: Toby Gerhart – RB, Stanford
84: Gabe Carimi – OT, Wisconsin
102: Austen Lane – OLB, Murray State
130: Dennis Pitta – TE, Brigham Young
135: Colin Peek – TE, Alabama
148: Vladimir Ducasse – OG, UMass

This is impossible to determine at this point. He's going from DE to ILB in a complex scheme where he's required to make the calls. Goes from one-on-one matchups with OTs to shedding guards, playing with the d-line in front of him, etc. etc. etc.

Not saying he gets a free pass, and he might end up being a wasted pick, but all of those comparisons are illegitimate and rash.

We have 11 picks, I know. However, won't the Browns get an additional pick in the second round as compensation for losing Sean Jones to free agency? I've never heard that as being a possibility.

The earliest compesatory picks come at the end of the 3rd round, and Sean Jones may net us a pick but I doubt it will be that high. The determining system isn't known but it takes into account which free agents you lose and gain in a given year. We very well might not get anything.

I don't think we will get any picks. I'm pretty sure we brought in more free agents than we lost.

It's impossible to say. The compensation pick formula is amazingly complex and closely guarded. I say we get a 5th at the absolute most.

Sorry, no pick for jones. We had st Clair and womack taking up 1 1/2 spots in our starting lineup all year, and jones wasn't even a regular starter. Heck, maybe even poteat's snaps might negate jones' value.

Don't be so sure about that. We don't know the formula.

The main reason we never get compensatory picks is because the league hates us and there is a conspiracy against us. :

Not the formula, more more info for anyone interested.

from wikipedia

These picks, known as "compensatory picks," are awarded to teams that have lost more qualifying free agents than they gained the previous year in free agency. Teams that gain and lose the same number of players but lose higher-valued players than they gain also can be awarded a pick, but only in the seventh round, after the other compensatory picks. Compensatory picks cannot be traded, and the placement of the picks is determined by a proprietary formula based on the player's salary, playing time, and postseason honors with his new team, with salary being the primary factor. So, for example, a team that lost a linebacker who signed for $2.5 million per year in free agency might get a sixth-round compensatory pick, while a team that lost a wide receiver who signed for $5 million per year might receive a fourth-round pick.

The Browns from what I read will not qualify for a comp pick..and besides they need a high pick in the second round not some beneath the barrel pick.
