I think we can conclude that Toad has officially shfted from Campbell pimp to Bradford.

I'm starting to think it might happen.

He might be the pick.

Just clicking..

One of the conversations on this thread was about the slow release that a guy like Tebow has.. I seemed to remember the release that Kosar had and I wanted to see some old film..Just to compare. So I looked up Kosar and found this interview.. I never got to compare because I saw this interview and just began laughing out loud..

I keep thinking, that if we, the public, had access to the video of Kosar that we have to Tebow, NOBODY would want him.....LOL Enjoy the interview..

http://www.youtube.com/v/3DdHgnM7NzU

Here is part 2 if your at all interested

http://www.youtube.com/v/zdlQBWREnUY&feature=related

This isn't really about the speed of his release..but it got me to thinking about how Kosar was anything but a classic drop back passer..

Point is, here is a guy that knew how to win..

Now I"m not saying that Tebow is as good as Kosar.. he's gonna have to prove that at the NFL level..

But he's got fewer hitchs in his game then Kosar... WAY FEWER..

So my question is, if Kosar could be a winner in the NFL,, why are so many of you totally SURE that Tebow can't?

Kosar had a quirky sidearm delivery on his short passes..and sometimes got them swatted down..on his long throws while he didn't have a cannon arm, he was more than accurate.
Tebow's throwing motion is whack..it comes down to his knee then comes up..which takes too long .

You didn't watch the videos did you? if you had, you would know that that's not even close to a good argument...

Why do I need to watch a video when I've seen practically all of Kosar's games and a ton of Florida's games?
Is that video which I can't see supposed to overrule all the games I've watched of both QB's?
I've seen isolation shots of both of their throwing motion..

Throwing tecnhique was unorthodox from Kosar...but he had a quick release and threw sidearm mostly when he was in close to the pocket on 3 step drops to get the ball under the arms of the onrushing DEs.

But when he made up his mind his release was quick and the throw accurate which made him a good QB. I always thought his mobility was slow but it was after that Monday night game against the Dolphins that he played with a broken foot that his mobility and footwork was just...GONE and a lot of his game went with it too.

That sucked what BB did to him - I've never heard of a coach not wanting a QB to adjust and when he did have it go for a TD and then be PO'd to take him out and then trade him when you were in first place. Oh and then go get Touchdown Tommy Vardell as your big offensive pick.

Yeah he got better, but as Bernie stated...BB was pretty new to offense.

our last hurrah's...Meanwhile Riley called Bernie Charlie Brown cause of the Elway defeats in the AFC Championship games...what wasn't noted is each time Elway lost in the Super Bowl. We were built to beat the NFC in those days not many AFC teams were.

JMHO - oh did I mention I like Bradford? another video of him...look how he doesn't lock onto WRs...puts the ball oh so accurate on the hands of the WR for max YAC...and what a beaut corner route

I think, if I had to guess right now, I'd say the best shot for Tim Tebow on draft day is San Francisco, at number 13. No proof. No solid evidence. Just this: The Niners gave a tepid endorsement to Alex Smith as their quarterback of 2010 after the season; and Mike Singletary didn't draft him; and Singletary is going to fall in love with Tebow once he meets him after the season; and Tebow is the kind of winner that Singletary has preached he wants since he took the job from Mike Nolan in mid-2008. After Singletary meets Tebow at the Scouting Combine, this is my prediction of his reaction: He'll turn to GM Scot McCloughan and say, "That's my guy. We've got to have him.''

And just to make it VERY clear, I'm not Pimping Tebow.. I could care less if we draft him or not..

I'm merely pointing out that all this analysis of QB's don't amount to a hill of beans without taking other things into considerations beyond physical skills and faults...

I agree, I'd consider taking him in the 3rd or 4th round.

But 1st and 2nd round picks should be on a QB who is ready to play or....... players who are going to immediately help the team for the next season.

We are definitely improving, and I like the way that this defense is rolling. I hope that Ryan is hear next year, and I believe that the three positions which would have the biggest impact for us next year would be a new CB to start opposite EZ Eric Wright, a safety to match with Elam, and a RT or RG for our O-Line. All these positions are capable of being satisfied in the first 3 rounds of the draft

My thinking is this: If we are having this discussion, the belief is that we have no starter - which means we have a bevy of backups.

So, unless we are willing to invest highly into a new starter, we should not be investing ANY draft picks at all into the QB position. We've got two #2's and #3's are dime-a-dozen..

So, while I - in no way, shape or form - do not want to draft a QB this year, for any reason at all, I have to say: Go Big or Stay Home. We either draft the "Franchise" or we don't take one at all.

If a "Franchise" QB isn't there - then what the hell would be the point?

See Purp, there's risk with any QB, and I'm not sure I buy into that "franchise QB" thing right out of the draft.

We definitely could use a quarterback, but just watching how much better the Jets got with Lito Sheppard improving through the season to match with Revis really makes me want Joe Haden out of Florida. That IMO would be as big of an upgrade as a QB upgrade. (especially if we get Kerry Rhodes in FA to be our FS!!!! Would he be a RFA though, he's played in the league for a few years now)

I mean, there's risk with any QB out there, so you assess the risk to the reward and that's how you determine your pick. There's a decent chance that Tebow will bust, and that he will take a little time to get on his feet if he doesn't. But there's also a chance that Clausen, Bradford, and McCoy will too. I believe that Bradford has a better chance of being successful, but is that risk worth the 1st round and all the money that a QB at 7 gets? I dunno, haven't seen enough of him, lol.

When it comes to QB's, there are guys that you've got a really, really, really strong feeling about going into the draft: the Carson Palmer's, Peyton Manning's, etc.... the guys that you just *know* are gonna be ok and are gonna get it done at this level - and then there is everyone else.

I am not on board with taking any QB in that "everyone else" group. I - by far - prefer that we spend our pick(s) on defense and get a D that will keep us in games while Holmgren & Co. work their magic on our O.

But even at that, I mean Carson Palmer has never been the same since Von Ofanhoven decided to fall on his knee in the playoffs. And for every Peyton Manning, there also is a guy like Matt Leinart, who I figured was a pretty sure thing........

Besides, if you want to wait for a guy like Peyton Manning to come along, GOOD LUCK! Cause he's going to be the number 1 pick and you've got to sink your team down the drain or trade every pick you have to get him.

I guess I'm just gonna have faith in Mike Holmgren, if anyone knows what the right decision is on these paticular prospects, he does. I just sure hope that it's Sam Bradford and not Jimmy Clausen that he thinks is the better QB. Clausen seems like a jerk, and Sam Bradford looks like my cousin.

Of course as long as neither of them have pictures in preppie outfits holding their friend's crotches I will call it an upgrade. But if either have real question marks, let's get ourselves a top-notch corner to work alongside Eric Wright.

Imagine, no more Mike Adams or Hank Poteat covering Hines Ward!

Not that it really means anything.. But 3 QB's that Holmgren has gone to Superbowls with were drafted from the second round down.....

Only point is, If Montana, Favre or Hassleback would have demonstrated perfect or near perfect technique in college, as some folks feel is necesssary, they'd have all gone in the 1st round.....

My question is, is there a second or third string QB on some NFL team out there that Holmgren has his eye on that we aren't even thinking about? He's done it twice before, why not again....

Just to chime in, I want Bradford. That being said, I have to laugh at our resident evaluators. No one in particular, but it all reminds me of a few years ago when we wanted a LB. Chad Greenway was called a bust by just about everyone of the resident know it alls. Seems like he turned out OK. Then there was the Adrian Peterson "injury prone, runs to upright" preaching. Many said Oher was lazy and took plays off, same for Ngata. Remember when Rivers was drafted and Brees was out there? That's right, many of these same posters were saying he was not an NFL QB for a bunch of different reasons. Then there is Ricky Williams, old toker himself. He was supposed to never be able to handle playing in the league again......he ain't that bad now.

Tebow IS a winner, nobody can deny that. Guys like him have a way of succeeding. Saying with such certainty that he will not be a NFL QB is just pure speculation.

I guess my point is that too many here have an overinflated view of their ability to spot talent. It's harmless, but I find it fascinating. Especially when so many others here fall for there every word.

As for the thread itself, IMO DA is gone before the signing bonus is due. Quinn may stay, but I doubt he starts for the Browns next year. But if Holmgren were to draft Tebow, I think I would trust his judgement more than anyone here.

I'd have absolutely no problem with Tebow. I like his competitiveness. He reminds me of someone that would play with the intensity of a Winslow, but without all the extra crap you don't want to see.

Unless we already took Bradford ...

I, too, trust Holmgren. If he takes Bradford, Clausen, Tebow, whatever QB, I will trust his judgement. If he passes on them, I will still trust his judgement.

Great question. Just for informational purposes, here's the list of all QBs (2 pages, includes status - not sure why some are on there that are listed as CUT).

I'd guess that the following names might have some intrigue to them. Davis would be on top of my list, with Moore a close second.
Davis, Nate (SF)
Moore, Matt (Car)
Booty, John David (TEN)
Hoyer, Brian (NE)
Croyle, Brodie (KC)
Gradkowski, Bruce (OAK)
Hill, Shaun (SF)
Gutierrez, Matt (KC)

According to WIP Radio in Philadelphia's Howard Eskin, young Eagles players sought advice on the sidelines from Kevin Kolb rather than Donovan McNabb during regular season games.

This may indicate that the in-house feeling is Kolb will be the team's QB of the future, though it's unclear when that will be come official. It also may hint that the players envision Kolb as the better leader. The Eagles will likely be open-eared about McNabb when the trading period opens on March 5.

I haven't been on in a while , so I don't claim to have any in depth knowlege or new information....That said my opinion is this : Holmgren will make this team his own , that way the accountability will also be his own....At QB , Holmgren could if inclined have an impact on Quinn's career simliar to what he did for Favre(** This doesn't mean that IMO Quinn with Holmgren = Favre with Holmgren)....He would however have a Definite Positive impact on Quinn , if he decides to go in that direction( This could be as simple as encoraging Quinn to stop down to see Holmgren and talk football which Holmgren has said he enjoys doing.... and than move Anderson and sign a veteran Backup....** Holmgren could however decide to acquire a solid veteran QB such as Hasselbeck and than either draft a later Rd. QB to groom....What I don't want us to do is select another QB in Rd. 1 and in turn being starting ALL over again at QB....Our whole right side of our OL should be upgraded....Harrison is decent at RB but more depth is needed....** IMO Mark Ingram has Ron Dayne written ALL over him....We Should Beware ! ....Our Wrs could use added depth due to the loss of Edwards , but they too will perfom better as our QB situation improves....Finally , I am Really surprised that our Offensive Coordinator was retained ....He Definitely better step it up in 2010....

I don't want our 1st or 2nd round picks to bea QB. Gimme a decent Veteran via 3rd round trade. Our secondary is in shambles. Berry, or Mays. and best CB in the second. Aren't we tired of dat 1 QB busts.

Like I said, you completly missed the point, so did Eotab in a post below yours..

The point was,, Sometimes a guy doesn't look like a QB.. but he wins...

Can't miss something U never had...point is even in college you can evaluate (if you know what to look for) how a QB's skills translates to the NFL..Bernie had a quick release could read a D ,was smart and could command the offense..all things that carried over to the pro game..they really couldn't tinker much with his motion ,because as I said, his accuracy on long balls was very good ...
I do not see Elbow's college skills translating to the pro game and again if you have to change the mechanics and throwing motion on a QB he's a project ..a big project..if Elbow's motion was conventional..my critique would more of timing issues ,which I also see..

Technique, handsize, throwing motion, speed of release..etc etc.. don't mean much if the guy doesn't have that "IT" factor.. Kosar had "IT". Ryan Leaf had the physical skills,,, something missing between the ears however..

The ''IT'' factor doesn't matter if he has none of the above..so there..

Does Tebow have "IT".. hell if I know, maybe, maybe not. I just laugh at you guys that harp on one or two aspects of a players game...

Keep laughing..I laugh if one doesn't know what to look at in a player yet thinks some other thing is going to outweigh all the things that will hamper him being successful.
In fact the QB you need to think about is Couch..when he came up they immediately knew his mechanics were off and they kept trying to tinker with them..couldn't fix it..and it hampered his game..inaccuracy on timing routes and not being able to truely make all the throws hurt him a lot..

I want no part of McNabb. I see an aging quarterback that would not handle losing well. It would be a problem. I hope we stay away from dealing a high draft pack if the browns go this route. Now, if they go after Kolb, i don't have any problems being more aggressive with the trade and potential compensation.

Don't understand why U want a project who may never develop more than what he might seem to be..being a winner in college doesn't guarantee he's a winner in the pros..many a player "busted" that was a winner..
Gator man..or Gatoraide and I say that jokingly(but U can take it)..do U know the knocks on Elbow?
This is from NFL DRAFTCOUNDOWN..

Zippo experience in a pro style offense ..gimmick Gator offense.. long delivery and serious mechanical issues with his throwing motion ..
Has trouble throwing a tight spiral ..(don't really care about that one..)
Not overly accurate ..(thats one I do care about)... Poor footwork --- Will have to adjust to taking snaps from under center --- Must learn how to read defenses and coverages --- Marginal vision --- Is too eager to run at times..

The draft, free agency, trades which way to go to bring in a QB?

Anderson is gone. That should be a given with his roster bonus and salary. That leaves Quinn and Ratcliff so somebody has to be added.

We have great needs both in offense and defense. The draft is top heavy on defense. Free agency is in question because of a uncapped year. The QB free agents are nothing to write home about.

There are second string QB's on rosters that are unknown to many. Guys like Matt Schabb, and Matt Cassel were both players stuck behind starters. Of course, we all know the deal with the Eagles and Kolb. Green Bay under Ron Wolf went and traded for a relatively unknown at the time Brett Farve.

Mike Holmgren went and got Matt Hasselbeck a sixth round pick off the Green Bay roster in a trade.

There could be guys like that out there on the radar of Heckert and Holmgren that we are unfamiliar with.

A guy who comes to mind is Trent Edwards in Buffalo. He played at Stanford and was a third round pick. He has done ok as a starter. He pushed JP Losman out of a job. Now he has fallen out of favor in Buffalo. I really don't know all the reasons why. One thing is sure Buffalo has been a tough place to play and they have struggled adding talent to that team.

Bio:

PRO: Drafted with the 29th pick of the third round (92nd overall) in the 2007 draft…the sixth quarterback drafted, the only one taken in the third round…was the first of three Stanford Cardinal players drafted.

NFL AWARDS: 2007 Pro Football Weekly/Professional Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team Selection…2007 NFL.com Gil Brandt’s All-Rookie Team Selection…Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week Winner – week 13 and week 14.

CAREER: Became the 14th quarterback in franchise history to make 10 starts… with six wins in first 10 starts, ranks tied the second most wins in team history…Tied Joe Ferguson for the second best record after 16 starts in team history with a 10-6 mark…Ranks 9th in Bills history with 396 completions and 4,329 passing yards…Holds the highest completion percentage mark in a Bills career 61.59% (396-643), second highest completion percentage mark in a season with a 65.51% on 245-of-374 passes in 2008 the second lowest interception rate at 2.80% (643-18)…Is 10-0 (min. 20 attempts) when posting a quarterback rating of 80.0 or higher …Became the sixth second-year quarterback since 1984 to lead his team to a 4-0 start to start a season.

Maybe he is someone that could be had or perhaps there is a guy we know very little about out there that is a potential target of Holmgren and Heckert.

Now he has fallen out of favor in Buffalo. I really don't know all the reasons why. One thing is sure Buffalo has been a tough place to play and they have struggled adding talent to that team.

ummm.. Cleveland is in the same situation as Buffalo..

Draft Day will be very interesting come the 2nd round if Tebow is still there...

Unless we already took Bradford ...

I, too, trust Holmgren. If he takes Bradford, Clausen, Tebow, whatever QB, I will trust his judgement. If he passes on them, I will still trust his judgement.

Thta's the way I am looking at it.

It said nothing about a gimmick Gator O....that's your BS.

You seem to have forgotten the parts that talked about leader, runner, tough as nails, strong arm, makes all the throws...

And,,his completion % is in the 60's for his career.......Scott Wright doesn't know WTF he is talking about, thus you don't either.

Tebow THRASHED Nati....

31 for 35!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! omg.

Not to mention if Tebow was drafted as a Brown, I think he and Josh Cribbs would become BFF's and would go around hand and hand in awe of each other's determination to win every week. lol. I can see it now.

For all the faults that people keep bringing up about Tebow,,, all I can say is, he gets the job done.....

In the video INTERVIEW clips I posted on this thread, Kosar makes a comment,, If the QB position is a "results oriented position" in a "results oriented world" If you don't look great doing it, does it really matter if the throw is good and it gets there and it's on time and gets completed?

Which by the way, was the point I was trying to make to Attack that he didn't want to take the time to think about....

As has been said a time or two, there is more to being an NFL QB than being perfect in form and function... Results have to count for something.... and as Peens post above with the link in it demonstrates, Tebow clearly has pretty darn impressive results.....

Let me say again, I'm not pimping Tebow,,, I could care less if we draft him or not.. But dang it,, all this talk about him not being a Good NFL QB prospect smacks of ill conceived notions...
