Jamison's contract sort of scares me....but then again, isn't Jamison everything that Colangelo wants out of a PF?

so, maybe we pair Jamison with somebody else to package to Toronto for Bosh in a sign-n-trade.

that way, Bosh gets his max $$$....we get Bosh....and we get a better team this year (just here dreaming)

Nice thinking....but don't hold your breath.

And Toronto is currently a playoff team (#6 seed with a 19-20 record).

lebron wore 2 different color shoes last night, one blue, one orange. when asked after the game about the shoes, he said it was a tribute to daugherty, nance, price, ehlo, etc...

i found it funny that not much was made out of it. he tributes past cavaliers and nothing. but some fake ny shoes show up on the net and it gets headlines everywhere. it just shows how biased the media is toward lebron leaving.

NBA Power Rankings and Comments

Turn ahead the clock: LeBron James' throwback uniform includes one blue and one orange shoe. ... Thank goodness Denver is in the West: Cavs have lost nine of last 13 vs. Cavs.

So, I read that as Dave saying he wore a blue and orange shoe to show his intentions of going to the Knicks. Unless I've read that wrong, it appears the writer dismissed Lebron's explanation for his own.

Was reading on WFNY that the cavs could potentially get David West from the Hornets. I think this would make much more sense for the Cavs both money wise and building wise as he is 4 yrs younger than Jamison and a shorter contract. web page

Believe NO's GM just came out and said a trade involving any of their core players was not going to happen this season. I would assume West is considered to be one of those players.

Jamison is clearly the most realistic option. If he were slowing down I would be a little more concerned but he's playing maybe the best basketball of his career THIS season. 49% from the floor, 38% from 3 and a PER of 20+. He's one of the top 25 most efficient players in the league right now. Ahead of players like KG, Amare Stoudemire, Andrew Bynum. etc.

The contract is a non issue in my opinion. It looks like he has a lot of life left in his legs.

undersized PFs tend to go downhill pretty quickly when they do go downhill....so the contract has to be a concern.

also, it's easier to put up big stats on a bad team when that is all you have to care about.

That's where the efficiency rating comes in IMO. If he had a PER around the league average, you might be on to something but he doesn't. He's scoring 22 points a game while only taking 16.9 shots. His scoring rate is up a hair this season and his shot attempts are down 1 per game. Jamison is averaging 1.32 points per shot attempt. LeBron is averaging 1.46. Just for comparisons sake, Kobe Bryant is averaging 1.26 points per shot. That's a pretty amazing stat.

Plus, he's not a player that relies on his athletic ability to do what he does. That's another key element in all this. Even as he ages, he's still going to have value because he's so fundamentally sound. The style of game he plays translates well to a player that's 34, 35.

Will he be worth the 28 million he's owed? Well, if we win a title I think that's an easy question to answer. If we don't, do you honestly think he'll be tough to trade? He's a high character guy, a great teammate and he's playing the best basketball of his career. Someone out there would take him off our hands after the season.

taking more shots is not the only reason it is easy to put up good #'s on bad teams....

bad teams tend to not play very good defense (less energy expended at that end plus all-offense games are a bit addictive for stretches)...they also tend to get blown out of more games and get to face the other team's reserves much more often.

and I would not be opposed to taking on Jamison by any means...whatever it takes to get us a title, we should do it. i'm just saying there are still major concerns

while he is not a stretch 4 by any means, he would be an absolute machine in the cavs' system.

Here's the daily Jamison update....

25 Points
19 Rebounds
3 Assists

10-22 FG
2-4 3P FG

My only concern is starting to be the minutes Washington is playing him. He's averaging 41 minutes a game over the last 5 (since the Arenas suspension). If I'm the Cavs, I start trying to make this happen before the Wiz run him in to the ground.

just being reported, gilbert arenas is being charged with a felony for possession of a gun.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4826597

this is good for the cavs because it's possible washington may be thinking complete overhaul of that team.

7 points in about 30 seconds for Lebron right there. If this comeback holds it'll be one for the ages.

I still wish I didn't stay up for it... 20 turnovers, and 3 missed free throws at the end.

The 3 missed free throws down the stretch is what lost this game. Great shot to win it though. Nice 4th quarter to watch unfortuantly a loss for the Cavs.

I turned it off at half, had to go to bed. I thought the Cavs were crusing. This sucks. Anyone see Kyle Korver's block on LBJ? Followed by Reggie's comments, I laughed.

i shut it off when they were down like 11 or 13 and figured it was over. i wake up and realize they had lost on a prayer 3... (although i had cavs +1 and got my $$ back)

people can point to the way they played offense last night, and it was sub-standard, but the real reason this team lost, and why they usually lose this season is turning the freaking ball over. you can't do it 23 times on the road. you just can't.

i think if they can go into staples and beat a clipper team that is playing better, all will be ok, a 3-2 western trip is not bad.

look how far we've come, remember when we'd be happy just go get 2 wins on that trip?

the good thing is, i think the farthest west we will have to go again is san antonio? our only road games vs the west that we have left are the spurs and hornets i believe. that's awesome. to kinda have that outta the way

just kinda comparing last year to this year the cavs didn't record loss #11 until feb 10, although i think you can argue the cavs schedule this year has been a little bit tougher so far.

The turnovers were absolutely ridiculous last night, both in frequency and the way they were happening.

Our shooting was also quite terrible. We couldn't buy a basket for most of the 4th and they were just generally out-hustling us all over the place.
We couldn't keep Boozer from under our boards, we couldn't hit a basket, we couldn't keep a handle on the ball.

If there is any consolation at all in that game, it is that these games by us - while all too frequent - are the exception, not the norm.

cavs survive last night. hell of a win. the clippers were literally hitting everything.

love this quote from lebron though.

"That's one thing about our team -- we enjoy playing the game of basketball," James added. "The chemistry that we have on the court and off the court is the reason why we're so successful. We believe in each other, and that's why we do the things we do on the court. We're like a brotherhood on this team."

does that sound like a guy who's on his way out of town?

The sloppy turnovers, the lack of hustle in transition, the lack of movement on offense when someone has the ball are the reasons for our close games and losses.

It's a positive though that, within the last two games, with all of those mistakes -- it comes down to the final possessions beating us, or close to beating us. Both were one point differences.

When we lock down, focus, and hustle we get results like the Lakers' game on Christmas. This team has it in them to be unstoppable, we just have to pull it together and be consistent.

cavs v lakers tonight.

reading the write up, the cavs have 23 games at home in these last 39. we should really start piling up the wins.

and i kinda find it funny that shaq makes his mark, and really shows why we got him just a few days before the lakers get into town...

i think he's pacing himself, and also mike brown may have figured out some things too, as mentioned in the write up.

This will make things quite tough for us tonight.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4845554

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Cavaliers starting point guard Mo Williams will miss Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers with a sprained left shoulder.

Williams injured his shoulder in Tuesday night's win over Toronto. He got hurt in the third quarter but returned to the game and made a key 3-pointer in the fourth quarter.

The team said Williams was being evaluated at the Cleveland Clinic. It's not known how long Williams could be sidelined with the injury.

When Cleveland beat the Lakers on Christmas Day, Williams scored 28 points.

Windhorst reporting that it's a ligament sprain, which would mean there was some tearing in the muscle. Depending on the severity, it could mean surgery.

He's says it was upgraded from a strain to a sprain but I believe he mixed those up if I correctly remember my medical diagnosis' (i.e. it went from sprain to strain).

http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2010/01/cleveland_cavaliers_mo_william_3.html

The only positive is that it was his non shooting shoulder. Typically, with rest, he could play through it (even if the damage was fairly significant).

obviously we start west and that means boobie gibson will have a chance to earn himself some brownie points off the bench.

tough blow. although we should be much tougher defensively from the start with west who has the ability to run the offense, and lock down the backcourt.

Yeah, real tough blow.. The only silver lining is that we play like 7 of our next 9 games at home...

This would have been brutal if we were about to go on a 5 game west trip or something..

My guess is that we will be VERY careful in regards to when we bring him back.. Time for Gib to earn his paycheck comin off the bench..

100% agree. especially with the way boston and orlando are falling apart at the seams (which i love). i think the cavs could close out the east 2 weeks early.

i want orlando bad in the playoffs, bad. i love the way they screwed their team up over the offseason.

Ouch:

CLEVELAND (AP)—Cavaliers starting point guard Mo Williams(notes) will miss at least one month with a sprained left shoulder, a major blow to the Eastern Conference’s top team.

Williams injured his shoulder in Tuesday night’s win over Toronto when he reached for a steal in the third quarter. He was taken to the locker room for an examination and treatment before returning to the floor and making a key 3-pointer in the fourth quarter.

The Cavs said Thursday before their game against the Los Angeles Lakers that an MRI taken at the Cleveland Clinic revealed the sprain and that Williams is projected to be out for the “next four to six weeks.”

On Tuesday, the Cavs initially said Williams had sustained a strain, but changed the diagnosis to a sprain, which indicates there is a tear in the shoulder. It is not yet known if surgery is an option for Williams, the club’s second-leading scorer behind LeBron James(notes).

Still....non-shooting shoulder. I think we still have the pieces to keep winning. Maybe this puts a little pressure on Ferry with that Jamison deal rumor.

Mo is a little streaky anyway.

Why would that push the Jamison trade? Mo is a PG. At any rate, I think it's Washington that's holding up the Jamison trade. I really doubt they would want to help us win a Championship by dealing us Jamison ... even if it helps their team out in the long run too.

Man.. I just read about Mo, that's a huge blow. I really hope we can make this a team effort to compensate for his production. It does put more pressure on the FO to make a move within the next month or so.

Just that Jamison would provide a boost in scoring in his absence.
