Insanity bordering on trolling.

1. you don't trade a player of that caliber

2. you don't trade a guy you have built your team around (that would be like the colts trading peyton manning away, in his prime)

3. you don't trade that guy

4. you probably don't make it out of whatever building you made that trade in, alive

Are you a Portland fan?? Why on earth would the Cavs want to do that unless Lebron came into the front office on trade deadline day and said "trade-me I'm not coming back after the summer"?? Even then, I'm not so sure I'd make that trade.

That's like offering Nance, Price and Daur ... Darue ... Duar ... Brad, for Jordan. No way would the Bulls have gone for that. Never.

I'm a troll for thinking outside of the box? I disagree.

Do I think that would EVER happen? No.

Would I even consider doing it myself? Probably not.

But hey, the NBA Trade Machine is there for a reason. Fun. That's what discussions like this should be.

The Lakers traded Shaq when he was more the most dominant player in the HISTORY of the leauge.

On that note, I think it was Bill Simmons who was having a contest last year to see what the most lopsided trade somebody could pull off using the trade machine. Somebody, did something that sent Lebron, Dwight, Durant and a few other top players to the Knicks for bloated contracts, and it improved their win total by 80 games.

I would hardly consider that thinking outside the box at all; that is more like trying to find pseudo-rational justification for the absurd.

I understand the mindset, but there's not one NBA player in history I would give LeBron for. Now, if you're talking Michael Jordan in his prime + Wilt Chamberlain in his prime, we have a conversation. Brandon Roy isn't on LeBron's level, great player, excellent fundamentals, bright future, locked in long-term, but not a LeBron, and he never will be.

LeBron is one of those players where his mold will never come again.

Exactly, you are talking about trading what could potentially be the greatest player ever for a couple of B+ to A- players. No way, no how ... unless he makes it clear he wants out and isn't coming back.

Brian Windhorst's podcast from 2/3/10 for anyone interested in what he has to say.

Quick rundown for those that want it:

- He thinks the odds of Iguodala coming to town are under 50%. Philly approached Cleveland first, so the offer is Ferry's to reject. I thought that was interesting that Philly approached us though and not the other way around.

- He thinks the fact that the Wizards and Cavs don't trust each other could make a deal more difficult than it would otherwise be and argued that Houston is likely needed to facilitate a sign and trade, and would want some sort of compensation for their role in it.

- He thinks Amare Stoudemire to Cleveland is highly unlikely and thinks its because of how he would fit on this team character-wise.

- He thinks the Pacers are asking for too much in every trade offer. He cited Brandon Rush for an unprotected 1st rounder as an example.

- He thinks that if a trade is going to happen that Ferry will try to get it done sooner rather than later to give as much time as possible to gel and gain familiarity with anyone we would bring in. Does not expect us to be active right at the deadline.

What's an unprotected first rounder?

As far as I understand it, protected means that when the traded pick falls into pick 1 to 13 (lottery picks) they will have the right to keep their traded pick, hence next year they'll have to give their first round pick.

So I assume unprotected means they'd have to give it up even if it was a lottery pick.

You mean Iguodala is ours for the taking, and that it's up to Ferry to accept, or reject? That's actually shocking. I wonder what they asked for, and why Ferry hasn't pulled the trigger yet.

I think either:

1. Philly is asking for something we just aren't willing to give and we aren't going to trade for him

2. Ferry put up some some smoke screens to see what kind of deal he can get by the deadline if he let word get out that there is an offer for Iggy on the table.

I'm hoping for #2, but realistically its probably #1.
