Also, I have stated in the past that my preference in the draft, especially a draft without hard slotting, is to trade back and get more picks plus a player who will make an equal amount of impact as one taken in the top 10.
I'm all for trading back again. - Last year this worked out great as we were still able to get Mack. - Granted, I didn't like any of the picks after him though.

I think the one pick people overlook from last year was Maivia. I thought he looked pretty damn good when he'd sub in at ILB. Had good range...covered well. Moved to the ball well. He needs to bulks up a little more but so did D'qwell in his rookie year.
I think we got a good player in the 4th. Maybe not a surefire starter but a solid player.

It's ridiculous how much you are going after him about that.
Momma Django...I don't go telling everyone how smart I am in the draft. You reap what you sew...everytime he mocks Mangini...or a poster on the draft, YES, you darn tooting I have to remind him about his brilliant draft ego bs crapola post of a GM mock that had nothing to do with this board but set him up as some draft Guru and then he goes and picks Conner Barwin...then on top of it REAM Mangini for taking Alex Mack more than half the freakin season then at the end say...he was always up for that pick
yeah otay...and what's your deal - and he may not be this time.
so is this you going on record now to state that Conner Barwin was a better pick than Alex Mack - than go ahead and lose your credibility too.
When Django speaks about draft and how much of an expert he is...I will most definitely remind him of his credibility... Conner Barwin

anyone wanna make a bet on either:
a) us taking McCLain OR ANY OTHER ILB at 7
or
b) McClain NOT GOING in the TOP 10 of the upcoming draft
You never know with Al Davis as the controls in Oakland

they say the knock on Black is that he has short arms... and won't be able to get good push off of NFL defenders.. I don't know.

If that's the case I'd certainly like to see his fat, stubby arms at RG, especially if the big road-grater is available in later rounds.

David Carr? That's a new one.
I'm surprised I haven't seen Troy Smith mentioned yet.

Troy Smith was mentioned on the AFCN Blog on espn.com
All they said was... 1) Ravens have depth at QB 2) Flacco is durable 3) Ozzie likes draft picks (which is relevant because Troy Smith is a RFA).
Does anyone know about this John Beck guy?
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Beck was drafted by the 'fins before Henne. He was fairly terrible down there from what I understand a major let down. Also I doubt blount lasts until the 7th rd. And why would anyone want the hamburgular David Carr? He Stunk in Houston, he stunk in NY, he stunk in Carolina, but the Browns with all of our offensive weapons (Lewis, MoMass...see where I am going with this?) will be the team to resurrect his career? Come on ppl, forgot what draft pick he was and his "potential" and use your head.

if David Carr was our starter this year, we would be picking number 1.

Although I have seen David Carr play in a limited capacity. There is nothing you can say that would convince me that David Carr would have been worse than what I witnessed out of Browns QB's this season. I am not saying he's great or even good. I am just begging for average at this point.

I'd rather we bring back Charlie Frye, Ken Dorsey, and Bruce Gradkowski as our QBs than see Carr play QB for us. Honorable mention: Vickers with the FB option pass ala Carthon's playcalling.

I would have taken Carr over what we had this year in a heartbeat.
David Carr = Tim Couch. Quarterbacks with loads of potential that were ruined by poor offensive lines and teams refusing to give them a decent RB.

David Carr WAS Tim Couch. The last games i've seen David Carr play (on Carolina and NYG) he was really bad. Carr was much better on Houston. I think years of losing ruined his confidence, and he simply doesn't have it anymore.
I'm not sure why his performance was so bad, but his accuracy (or timing) was very off, he wasn't completing passes, and the ball wasn't moving down the field.
May be given an entire training camp as a starter and he might get back to where he was (which never was paticularly good) but what i've seen of him lately is not impressive

I admit looking at the stats Carr was bad when playing with Carolina. But,in my opinion, for the most part when given the opportunity with the giants he has looked rusty but I didn't think he looked too bad. I really don't like Car or dislike him. He fits the parametrs of what I think we should look to at QB, experienced, not too old, not fragile. At least until we see what Quinn will amount to or we have enough holes filled to draft a QB. I will admit that Charlie Fry looked pretty good in the Baltimore game.
