Anyone else excited about this? I look forward to it for a week or so in advance. It can be pretty uneventful with a lot of kids already saying who they are signing with, but there are always a few suprises every year and a few guys leave their decisions until the last day.
I love signing day. Texas signs all of thier guys early so we know who will be in the class....We did go north and steal a pretty darn good Linebacker out from underneath tOSU. He verbaled friday. Jordan Hicks.
Yeah. I know the story, but Texas does not typically do well with out of state recuits and rarley ever gets recuirts late, so it was nice to add him this late to an already nice class. Don't think we can catch the Gators though unless they get a couple of decomits. Some sites have the SEC having 3 of the top five classes, going to be an uphill battle to level the playing field.
I hope OSU lands Sentrel Henderson, He's going to be sick. Reports are that he is leaning towards OSU which is good, we have a ton of top OL talent coming in, along with a great rb. So basically a typical OSU class.
"The medium for the bad news was ESPN, which figured. The network represents much of what is loud, obnoxious and empty in sports today."
Can someone explain to me how a few years ago, when Terrel Pryor decided he was more important than every other high school football player in the country, that he was allowed to go past the signing day to make his decision?
I literally watched all day just to find out he's special and gets to wait.

Signing Day is the 1st day the player can sign, not the day that they have to.

I don't really follow National Signing Day, but I just looked at the ESPN Top 150. And...holy crap! Does Florida just get every guy? Is that how it works? Florida picks which guys it wants then everyone else gets to pick from the rest. Geez.
Quote: - He'll get tons of exposure by playing on the he best team in the best conference.
I'm a Big Ten fan and even I know were not nearly the best conference, from top to bottom the SEC and Big 12 conferences are clearly better. I'd even say the Big East matching up could give us a good fight.
Quote: - He'll have a chance to play with the other most sought after high school recruit in the last 20+ years.
And he can't do that at say USC?
Quote: - He'll go to a school with a strong academic base.
Again, rarely do they care, most kids now adays care about Play style then how big the library is.
Quote: - He'll play for a program that has more stability currently than any other program.
OSU isn't the only school out of 121 to not change coaches. I'm not saying your wrong, you're just clearly biased.
my selling points would be less than what muni said.
- you are going to a program that stresses running the ball, ball control, field position, which i think would be a huge plus for an o-lineman
- a program that has cranked out really good offensive lineman, on top of a conference that does the same
- a team that is in the championship hunt this year, and usually most years
- a coach that will take care of you, he will send you to the nfl if he thinks it is best for you, a lot of coaches don't do that (see pete carroll and mark sanchez)
- oh, and 7 out of 8 bcs games, including 3 trips to the chip with one trophy coming back with
if the guy comes, great, if not, ohio state moves on. seems like we may not get all the best recruits, but we get good ones and always seem to find these unheralded guys who turn out to be college stars.
I always am thinking the same thing. I've been to that campus and University of San Diego (where Jim Harbaugh coached) both are in the city of San Diego. Both have superb weather. And both have ocean views.

Pretty much.
I ask, why not??
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
Quote: The last 4 titles were the SEC by 3 different schools. I'd say it's a no brainer who the best conference is right now. You can argue #2.
Sorry dude, but the last two titles are still under heavy dispute. In 2008, Utah finished undefeated and beat Alabama by a wider margin than Florida did. - No reason why they shouldn't be considered #1. Last year, Boise finished undefeated - no reason to believe they couldn't beat an Alabama team that struggled to stop a true freshman that had never played before.
- Two SEC teams won two bcs games, not outright championships.
Label me, call me names, whatever. . . But note that:
I make my legit claim that the Big 10 is the best conference because it is the only conference to finish with 4 teams in the top 15 with 3 of those teams finishing in the top 10. - That says a lot.
3 teams ranked among the top 10 in the country. - Again, no other conference can make this claim.
As far as Henderson is concerned, I have reasons for stating that no other team offers as much as Ohio State.
Yeah, USC has great weather, but considerting their recent coaching change, they don't have the stability that Ohio State has. - Neither does Florida and for the same reasons.
The only team that comes close to offering what Ohio State does is Alabama. But they don't have the most sought after recruit in the last 20 years like Ohio State does, nor do they have the academic base that Ohio State does.

Sorry dude.....dispute by you.
The trophy is in Gainesville.

As an OSU I'm actually pleased with our recruiting class. It won't be ranked very high but we addressed critical positions. So don't be fooled guys this is a solid class
Quote: But they don't have the most sought after recruit in the last 20 years like Ohio State does
First of all, I don't think recruits really care who if the most sought after recruit is on the team. If he's not good it doesn't really matter anymore. Pryor just happens to be good.
Second, maybe Pryor was the most sought after on the East Coast. But on here on the West Coast I remember Pete Carroll going after Jimmy Clausen pretty hard. And I'm sure Matt Barkley would have been pretty popular if everyone didn't already know he was going to USC.
I don't know much about college football, but most sought after recruit of the last 25 years. Really?
Quote: Agreed, but recruits will go to teams that offer a chance of playing sooner rather than later. - That's what I base my argument on.
You are slick Muni.....we have been through all of this before.
It is the start of a new season so to speak, so I understand the "homeritis" being strong at this point....and hey, it can get better for you if Henderson signs....that kid has been wavering...at one time you had the inside track....then us and Miami....now I read ND is in the mix....I think the kid at this point doesn't know where he is going.
If he went with us, that wouldn't be icing on the cake, we already have that....I guess he would be the ice cream...being from Minnesota, I think he is sick of cold weather....I don't see him as a skier or hockey player....I think he goes for the weather....but I think Miami is going to end up getting him.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
