I wouldn't mind seeing the Eagles, or an Allman Brothers reunion, if they can get Greg Allman, Dickie Betts, Butch Trucks, et al, to be on the same stage together again. Aerosmith might be another possibility, although I seem to remember them doing a SB in the last 10 years(?).
Yeah, Aerosmith did one with Britney Spears around 2000.
They're running out of "classic" bands to do the half-time show. The Eagles are too mellow for a SB... I thought the Black Eyed Peas would have been a good choice this year and I only like the one song by them - I Gotta Feeling, or whatever it's called. Bring back the Stones....
Part of me doesn't really buy the marriage of the NFL and rock bands anyway. The NFL is much more "Vegas" in style than it is rock 'n roll, IMO. Probably what they oughta do is have an All-Star Revue with people like Wayne Newton, Cher, Harry Connick, Liza Minelli, a magician, and the guys with the tigers. Or maybe they should just have the Fox robot getting run over by a monster truck. Just thinkin' out loud now ...
The NFL is too gun-shy to bring on the younger bands because of "nipple-gate" and it's frankly, not like Janet Jackson's all that young. (she's over 40, which I'm not saying is old, I'm pushing 40 myself)
I think the NFL needs to put a young band or artist up there...Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce etc. They're fun, not vulgar (or at least the stuff on the radio isn't)

Grand Funk,....
Only if Mark Farner re-joins the rest of the band. Without him, Grand Funk is nothing more than just a cover band. Just like Blackfoot minus Rick Medlocke.

Hey there are "younger bands" that still crush it night after night. I'd rather have someone that isn't mainstream play than to drag out some band that should be playing county fairs. Or seriously old dudes trying to act like their younger selves (Rolling Stone's, The Who, Bruce). Bring in a band that can bring the heat and that plays in front of 60 to 80,000 people crowds each summer... Widespread Panic!

Gotcha,... See my earlier post about "rifts."
I "might" go see the Mel and Don act play cover, but never Farner.
Did The Who not have a "Townsend rift" at one time, or am I just thinking they were broken up with Entwistle having died ?
As far as the Super Bowl and the Aerosmith comment(s), I thought they played with whatever rap pukes did the "Walk This Way" remake,....(not Britney.)
If KISS played, I'd probably actually watch the halftime show (like Aerosmith,...)
I think Charlie Daniels would be a great show,...Travis Tritt is AWESOME live,...I suppose since Canada doesn't have an NFL franchise, Rush would be out of the question.
Harry Connick (especially this year) Diana Krull Josh Groban Led Zepplin ELO or TransSiberian Orchestra
I vote for midget wrestling, followed by Miley Cyrus releasing 1000 white doves painted red, white, and blue as she sings whatever insipid "hit" they want to promote. That, my friend, is entertainment.

Actually, the Who was supposed to tour in 2002 and just days before it was supposed to happen Entwistle died of a drug overdose. Four days after the fact they indeed toured with a new bass player in tow and they been going on ever since. I give them credit for still rocking out. Just goes to show you you're never too old to rock and roll.

To each his own. I'm admittedly biased....I'm a Who fan from way back. I've got a bass autographed by John Entwhistle. I've seen them 4 times. They're definitely not the same without Keith and John, but I thought it was an awesome performance.

I'm hoping for Boston, ACDC, or Journey next year.
I think it was an underpowered halftime show... though it was an awesome stage setup... I think they needed to start with more power.. They just started out weak and got stronger.. but starting out weak is not a good way to start..
Journey would be a good band to play at halftime in terms of viewership..I would expect a strong amount of filipinos tuning it to see it.. Though most filipinos I know are more into basketball and boxing.
