I literally just facepalmed.

Cribbs can run, but he can't pass. Then there's a guy like Tebow, who had no success running the ball at the Senior Bowl, who won't be able to run in the NFL.

Very few players are talented enough to run and pass well enough for that to work. And it is so much more difficult to hand the ball off out of the shotgun with success.

It won't happen.

Look man, i know you consider yourself this expert....and all the power to you.

Tebow didn't try to run. He was there trying to show eggheads like you he could take a snap under center and pass in a pro offense.

You want to duke it out on that, we can.

You want to moan on one hand he has bad feet, I won't say much, but if you want to tell he he can't run ,I will tell you you are full of crap.....so, you're full of CRAP.

If he ran, you would have been the first eggbert to say "See, he can't throw, he's just a runner like most spread QB's."

So, take a hike. You don't know what you are talking about.

Now that said, you want to go back to being my friend, I am good, but your next few statements are going to play a big part in what happens here.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Peen take your own damn advice because your homerism and love of Tebow is pathetic. You would NEVER defend any other guy this much.

Schooling you on football while simultaneously getting under your skin.

Incidentally, I'm impressed that you were able to read what I've typed since you've had me on ignore. Or maybe you were just lying when you made that statement.

In either case, if it hasn't dawned on you yet, I'm not inclined to answer your question. I'd find my time to be more productively spent trying to teach a chimp to fly a rocket-ship............

Have a nice day.

No, I took you off ignore when I saw someone else quoted you, quoting half of my post. So I took it off to read that you did butcher my quote.

I might leave it off until football season. I didnt expect you to answer it. I already know the answer is Coach Fishers personnel QB scout. Especially since you have been so accurate on QBs thus far. DA being better than Quinn; Campbell should be the Browns savior at QB and Vince Young wont be a good QB. Now Im not wanting anything to do with Bradford and thinking Clausen might be a good QB

I honestly don't know why anyone would put another poster on ignore.
I've never even considered it and there's been a bunch of times someone ticked me off (Toad included ), but just cuz someone ticked me off doesn't mean I can't like 'em... or at
least, appreciate some of their insights.
Hell, I like Ballpeen and he once really pissed me off and I bet he doesn't remember it, it was a few years ago. We went back and forth for a few posts and the refs deleted it all.

We did refrain from dropping FUs at one another so we didn't get banned... unlike some other poster we know from a few weeks back.

Anyway, if we draft Bradford I'd be be OK with it... I don't want to, but right now I have to trust Holmgren. Hopefully that blind faith in our new saviour gets rewarded.

Sorry, could you repeat that, I had you on ignore

I have put a few on Ignore over the years, Vers and one other guy whose name I can't remember., (Oh Wait,, Diam,, thats it) Last thing I heard from Vers was an IM thanking me for standing up for him. Which I really did do..

Back on topic:

Here is where I stand on the QB situation. We now have a guy on staff that is clearly a top guy in evaluating QB's (holmgren). While I'm neither sold on or totally against any particular QB in this draft, If Holmgrens agrees to one, my tendency right off the cuff, would be to accept it blindly. he clearly knows more than any of us.

So, regardless what others may say about a Clausen for instance, if the browns were to take him whereever.. then there must be more to it than we as fans can see..

holmgren is the guy that many of us thought would be the guy that could turn this organization around.. to not trust him at this point would be just crazy...

I did once, for a while. Don't remember who it was, but they had a picture of Michael Jackson in their sig. The poster did a lot of posting and I just couldn't stand looking at that freakish image everywhere.

Had nothing to do with the content of the posts.

My bad. I didn't mean to put footwork. I guess I'm just used to talking about Bradford.

Or you are once again making things up as you go speaking it like its gospel.

I used to enjoy reading your posts because they were well thought out and were seeking knowledge as much as stating your opinion. To me it was impressive discussion coming from such a young mind. Now its all arrogant dribble that flip flops regularly. The validity that you may point out is washed out by the egotistical manner in which you present it.

It's getting old man. Very old.

Anywho...J/C

I am definitely interested in Bradford, but his lack of college experience and bulk of work from the shotgun scares me. Will he be able to make that adjustment to being a predominately under center QB? If we continue to run the same offense as we did last season, that is what he will be expected to do. On the other hand, if we adopt MH's offense...well, that is a whole different story. He may be a franchise type starter behind center.

However, aren't most of you convinced that BQ is better suited for a WCO? Wouldn't we want to see what we have with him before investing that much into another 1st round QB? Especially with the other needs that we have?

I am not sold on BQ, but I would like to see him in a WCO themed offense, if that is infact what we are going to run. Based on what we saw from Bradford in his limited college action, can he run a drop back under center type offense as effectively as he ran the spread?

Multi million dollar question right there.

if i'm a betting man and needed to put some cash on which of the 2 scenarios are more likely, 1) bradford successfully taking snaps and dropping back or 2) quinn being more accurate on intermediate/deep passes, i'm going all in on #1.

I'm with you.

Bradford definitely spent most of his time dropping back, but from what I've seen (working on going through his 2008 season now) he does take a fair amount of snaps under center. No where near as many, but a decent amount. His footwork definitely needs some tinkering, but I am very confident that he could adjust relatively quickly.

OverToad,

For what it's worth I think your analysis of Sam Bradford is spot on. Eerily similar to my analysis.

I would enjoy hearing your take on Jimmy Claussen.

Then you're eerily similar to genius

It's my belief that as we get closer to draft time, Clausen is going to fall further and further behind Bradford.

Clausen is much tougher than Quinn was, and is. He has a pretty good release, but on the deeper throws he's a little bit of a body-thrower, meaning he needs to really gather his body underneath him to get power in the throws. That isn't something Bradford will have to worry about. I think Clausen will struggle like Quinn does with NFL-throws, though not nearly as badly.

Because of Quinn, many of his attributes are going to be more heavily scrutinized. He shows good accuracy, but like Quinn, he was in a system that made for bigger windows making his arm look more on-target than it probably is. I do believe he's measurably more accurate than Quinn and stands a decent chance of being an accurate NFL passer over time. He's mobile, just like Quinn is. I'm not buying that he's 6'3 until I see it at the combine, but he'll have enough size to get it done if he proves accurate enough.

My biggest criticism is that he's an ass. Most players tend to become more of what they were in college, and so it stands to reason that Clausen's arrogance will become more pronounced. If he isn't a big success right away, he's going to become the 201x version of JP Losman, which is a lesser version of Jeff George, and Clausen doesn't even remotely have George's tools.

I've read all year how he's going to be a top-10 player. Some have said he's a top-5 guy and will be the first QB taken. I don't believe that. I think he's a 1st rounder but isn't ahead of Bradford, and I don't think it's close.

I just hope the Rams do us a favor and take him #1. Makes it much much more likely that Eric Berry falls to #7 that way.

I've been a Bradford supporter for awhile, even after he broke his shoulder. He is the only QB in this draft class that I think can be a super star in the NFL. He's incredibly accurate, smart and he has taken snaps under center.

I really love Bradford's game, too. Him posting a weight of 236 makes me feel better about his frame withholding (not sure if that's a rational conclusion to come to) and if he is available and Holmgren/Heckert seem to think he can be the guy, I am not complaining one bit.

I know he had a concussion at some point. But what QB hasn't had a concussion.

I've warmed up to the idea of Bradford. But I am definitely concerned about his shoulder.

Would Bradford be my first choice in this draft? No. Would I be unhappy if we picked him? No.

I think all this talk about Bradford might be a moot point as the Rams and Redskins seem to like the guy.

I agree. In fact I will be shocked if the Rams pass on Bradford. Then again I see Clausen dropping just like BQ did.

Bradford is the real deal, and if we get a shot at him I expect will take it.

If Bradford throws an accurate rocket on his pro day, then he's fine with me. I learned my lesson with Drew Brees. I always loved Brees since Purdue but if was a GM, I would have been learny after that shoulder surgery.

Toad, I know I am on your ignore list but you are still up to your old tricks.

When Drew Brees was available you were the one I remember being afraid of his shoulder.

It is strange to me how you would have more confidence in the shoulder of a college QB who has not played in a pro offense and has played very little for the past season.

The fact that he has not played very much since 2008 and coming back from the shoulder injury should scare anyone away from this young QB even though he has shown promise.

A top 7 pick ? Not in my opinion! If Drew Brees was a huge risk in your opinion then what is Bradford?

Just wait till next season, I have heard that for over 40 years!

You were never on my ignore list. I don't put posters on my ignore list.

I was not "the one" but rather "one of many."

Here's the problem. You don't know the difference between the two injuries.

Here's the short, short version:

The amount of pins required to hold Brees' shoulder together was larger by many than any other professional who had ever hurled a ball of any sort. Where most players who suffer shoulder injuries require two or three pins to hold it in place while it heals, Brees' shoulder required something ridiculous like 9

Bradford sprained his AC joint.

Brees' shoulder was ripped out of socket then rotated towards his front.........from behind. It was gruesome.

Here's what James Andrews said about it:

Quote:

Dr. James Andrews said the damage from the injury suffered in the last game of the 2005 season with San Diego was so severe that there was a 360-degree tear of the labrum -- basically, that it was torn from the bone -- and that the bone broke through the skin from underneath the shoulder.

Having a hard time envisioning that?

We all have that glutenous uncle who eats like a wild pig. On Thanksgiving, you know it when uncle RIPS the turkey-leg out of the body with his bare hands, seeing that leg twist and shred it's way out of the mangled joint?

That was Brees' shoulder.

So to be blunt, the injury suffered by Bradford was child's play compared to Brees' shoulder. Nobody knew if Brees would ever be able to throw a ball again, let alone play in the NFL.

This isn't apples and oranges. It's black-holes and butterflies.

So.............If by "old tricks" you mean I didn't blindly put my faith into a player when I had no clue about how bad his injury really was while other people blindly did, then yeah, I'm up to my old tricks.

The truth is that nobody outside of the tightest NFL circles knew just how badly his shoulder had been ripped apart. They kept it under very tight wraps.

If you want to crow that you knew Brees was going to be a great gamble, please, don't let me stop you, but don't pretend you knew how bad his injury was, and that you knew he would be able to come back when not even James Andrews knew he could.

Bradford won’t be at Oklahoma’s pro day

Posted: March 8th, 2010 | Gil Brandt

Several NFL prospects will be on display Tuesday at the University of Oklahoma Pro Day, but QB Sam Bradford won’t be one of them.

Bradford is in Pensacola, Fla., preparing for the draft at the Athletes’ Performance training facility — right next door to the Andrews Institute, the rehabilitation facility of orthopedist James Andrews, who performed the surgery on the QB’s throwing shoulder.

Bradford, who has a chance to be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, will work out for NFL teams on March 25 in Norman, Okla.

Bradford has been given physicals by a number of NFL teams. When I asked him about those, he told me he has “passed with flying colors.”

Not picking on DT or Toad... just reminding people of some of the hype that came along with Bradford.

Quote:

No need to be a jerk to him. He didn't say anything stupid, and he raises a good point.

The fact is that we desperately need a new QB. Quinn was almost as bad as DA this year, and DA had the worst QB season that I've ever seen by a Browns QB.

I really like Bradford. I think that he is not only the best QB prospect this year, but that he is also better than Stafford and Locker.

He is extremely accurate. He puts the ball right on the money virtually every play. His decision making and reads are uncanny. He doesn't have a rocket arm, but his accuracy and smarts more than make up for it IMO.

He is a great prospect if his shoulder is in good shape. I know this is the taboo comparison, and I'm not the first one to bring it up, but he is almost similar to Peyton was as prospect.

Then this reply from 'Toad:

Quote:

Similar in terms of release, coachability, arm-strength, and accuracy, yes.

The point is that even when a guy is a sure thing, he's not a sure thing. And even if he is good, he can't produce well if the situation around him is terrible. Unless he's Peyton Manning. And only Peyton Manning is Peyton Manning.

This is why I don't think we should sell multiple 1st rounders to anyone for anyone.
