Well i'll give some props to halo... it consumed like 5 years of my life. but here's my list

1. Halo 1 (not the biggest fan of halo 2)
2. Battlefield 2 (agree with the online only part... but thats hellanice part)
3. North and South (the greatest NES game ever.)
4. General Chaos (Sega game that was pure fun)
5. Conquest of the New world. (PC game that paved the way for the civ's series)

It's overrated anyway, single player sucks pretty bad.

1. Sim City series (more 3000 and less 4, but 4 ain't bad)
2. Super Mario 64
3. Sonic the Hedgehog 2
4. Yoshi's Island
5. Goldeneye 007

Honorable Mention:
- Roller Coaster Tycoon series
- Madden series
- Super Mario Bros. 3
- Solitaire
- Starfox series

I don't know of any current games that can touch the classics. Do you believe we will find Halo and Battlefield as fun as we do Sonic and Mario in 10 years?

1) Final Fantasy 6 - SNES (This is the one that really started it for me in the franchise. I loved the game play and the story and made me a FF Addict)

2) Zelda Link to the Past - SNES (Like with FF6 this game started my love for the Zelda francise. Great Story, and excellent game play)

3) Goldeneye - N64 (This pretty much started the console multiplayer shooters to me. At parties when I was in high-school we would have massive tournements with the 4 person multiplayer. Guys, girls everyone I knew loved this game. A lot of fun)

4) Socom 2 - PS2 (I know I might catch flack from some Xbox fans but this was my favorite multiplayer online shooter. I just wish Sony had the online service that Microsoft provided for this game. I was disapointed by Socom 3, and I havent got combined assult(4) because I heard is was the same as 3. Zipper promises a new and completly different approach for the PS3 Socom set to release next year.)

5) Final Fantasy 11 - PS2, PC, Xbox360 ( I really didn't want to put 2 Final Fantasy's on my list but 11 is a MMORPG and totally different from the rest of the mold. I have played many MMO's and none had the in debth story that this one had. Excellent game IMO, I wish I would of had more free time to play it. I beat the original story and the first 2 expansions. I didn't beat the last expansion before I cancelled my subscription because I just couldn't give the free time I use to. Full time job, side job free lancing as a custom software developer and a kid on the way will do that.)

Well that's my list.

goldeneye was a great game... didn't make my top 5 but would be in my 10. I forgot how fun road rash was... kicking other bikers into oncoming traffic was great. And NFL blitz was alot of fun till they screwed it up... just like NHL Hitz. I cant figure out why when they have their lil gaming area they change it and try to be like regular hockey and football games. They ruined those franchises.

Yeah, Road Rash was awesome, and they had a story to go with it, like if you kicked the girl she didnt like you, but if you didnt kick her, she would be your friend. I loved that game.

Funny, I haven't seen anyone mention Halo???

And that is the one game that pretty much made the Xbox what it is today.

imo halo single player is horrible, i think the only reason its gotten so popular is the great multi player-

IMO u have no clue what ur talking about.

That game was great I loved when you'd get the bugs splattered against your windshield. I miss time trial racing games.

1. Planescape: Torment
2. Fallout
3. Ultima V: Warriors of Destiny
4. Half-life 2
5. Descent 2

Planescape's story is so unbelievably gripping... it dwarfs all other game plot I've ever experienced. It still gives me chills. Fallout was incredibly unique had had it all. Awesome story, great setting and tons of personality. That Black Isle development team was incredible. Ultima V was enormous and was an amazing game for its time. Gotta give one to the classics. Half-life 2 is the best FPS I've ever played... and Descent 2 I've spent YEARS playing online. Some wickedly intense dogfighting.

Halo would come in at #6. Awesome, awesome single player story.

I don't post often here but after reading this thread I thought I would chip in with my list.

1. Chrono Trigger - If you like the final fantasy games you need to pick this one up. It is amazing. The only game that I have pulled an all weekender on.

2. The Blizzard RTS games - Warcraft 2, 3, and Starcraft are all great classics that could keep me away from the world for hours. Nothing like fighting off a Zerg rush or hearing the orc peasants chime in with Zug Zug.

3. The Final Fantasy Series - Great games that are great time killers.

4. Ninja Gaiden Series - Ninja Gaiden 1 all the way to Ninja Gaiden Black are great games with great gameplay.

5. Madden Series - Only set of sports games where I own or have owned more than one copy of the installments.

Honorable Mention:

Halo 1 & 2
Star Wars Battleground 1 & 2
Tetris
GTA Series
Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth

Gosh I could go on and on but I will stop and see what people have to say
