great post thanks.
Mike Brown at S & K.Lucas CB, (MH know him) would be added to my list consinering our lack of depth. also M.Muhamend or A.Bryant. although I havent looked into injury or issued of any of these guys yet.
Does anyone think David Carr's career can be salvaged as a starter?
Savage isnt here anymore.....but Chester Taylor is on this UFA list too. could be a good insurance policy on our young or limited experience backs.

Mike Brown is/was always injured. Seemed to salvage his career in KC a little bit though
Don't know anything about Lucas.
MM is way too old and Antonio Bryant is a headcase.
I don't think Carr is anymore than a backup. If we brought him in in that capacity I would welcome it.
Minn has said they will re-sign Taylor. He's too valuable on third downs for them to let go.

We need to keep Hadnot, who had a decent year. The other OL on the list was Steve Neal, guard, from the Patriots. He would be a real prize.

disapointing to hear about Chester. I thought he wanted to be THE guy somewhere. I just get nervouse not knowing if our backs can last an entire season. Harrison looked incredible at the end but i dont think he can do that for a full sixeen games. James barely made it out of the starting gate last season before getting injured.
I agree on Bryant but i still have a soft spot for him. I was so pissed when we let him go.
We need a FA wideout. especially since Robo hardley glimmered at all. We need a veteran to take some pressure off MoMass. just in case a of a sofmore slump. Love that kid though.
I would gamble on a saftey like Brown. not just him but we need two solid guys. one has to be a starter. all that we have right now are Elam and Adams. I dont think Pool will be back. If he does come back, for how long?

Probably a little off topic here, but with the reports that San Diego is looking for a RB in return for CB Cromartie, do the Browns entertain the idea of trading Harrison for Cromartie?
Just a thought.

Can we draft someone at #7 that is equal to Cromartie? Yes. Can we draft someone even later that is equal to Harrison? Yes.
I say we do it in a heartbeat if they'd take that deal. We still have Jennings & Davis and the draft coming up.... and we'd have a starter at Cornerback in return.
Browns is the Browns

Ha ha ha....great find dong! I remember seeing a Chargers player watch Greene go by and never bothered to investigate who it was. And then he chases him down and hits him in the endzone like a punk. AND then he barely moves a muscle on the biggest play of the year for his team all while they run right at him. Hilarious!
Ya, I don't think Mangini would want a guy like that on the Browns. Heck, I don't either.

Ewwwwww .
Cromartie is garbage, we don't need him, he's hardly an upgrade over McDonald . We need to draft Haden at #7, or sign Robinson and draft Berry at #7

If memory serves me right, he had one really good year. Not so much since then.

I thought I saw a special about college players being squeezed threw the system for grades and such.... and on it they mentioned that there are a surprising amount of college top level NFL caliber athletes that are border line,or actually learning disabled. If I'm not mistaken. one of the former educational athletic anylist mentioned Cromartie as the bottom of the intelgence barrel.

Perhaps along the same lines, I saw an article that laid out all of the off-field baggage the guy has. I looked around and can't remember where I saw it. The guy practically needs a separate accountant to handle all his child-support payments. Edit: Found this. Good enough. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerp...7799&spln=1

I see this phrase so often on this board now that it's started on it's way to comic status.
Having read a small amount on Cromartie I'd say he's a good guy to back away from. But if everyone who posts a similar sentiment to the one above thinks we're gonna start winning games with a team comprised of choir boys I'm afraid most are in for a rude awakening.
I'm all for "character" guys. It's nice not to have to worry about who's on the police blotter every week. But a good team will have a few "characters", too.

This is the kind of thinking that ruins teamwork. If you think you can win in `10 without keeping Harrison after what he showed last season I disagree with you. Winning teams keep a core of decent players who work together, ( together) and keeping Harrison on the team is one of those top 9 , at worst, of that core.
Would I like to see Leigh Bodden Back on the Browns? Heck YA! I'd like to see Leigh Bodden back on the Cleveland Browns! He was an original Brown out of college and he has played well the last 2 years apart from the team, and He played Well when he was ON the Browns. Isn't he capable of playing safety and corner? He is not overaged. I like him more than Elam.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Actually, he was terrible for the Lions and they released him. Then he went to the Patriots and was good.
With that said, I too like Leigh Bodden. But I think he will be a expensive because he will be a top 3 cornerback in free agency this year.

No to Cromartie, he tackles worse than Dion Sanders.
Then you have the entourage of chidren and girlfriends.
He is so strapped for money, he had to claim hardship in the courts.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!

The Cardinals are expected to release FS Antrel Rolle this week. The sides have been negotiating a contract extension, but cutting Rolle will allow the Cards to avoid paying his impending $4 million roster bonus. It may also very well cost them their starting free safety. Rolle will become an unrestricted free agent and generate interest because of his play-making ability. The 27-year-old has 10 interceptions over the past three years.

$12.1M....first $4M is a bonus due soon.
if this is still what he wants, then pass. his play in no way dictates this kind of a pay day......thats perennial all-pro $$ right there. plus, we already have the same player in elam.
pool has enough range to offset the SS position, but his future is uncertain. his replacement must be brought on board soon and should be quick enough to play the entire field. adams versatility doesnt diminish this need.
of course, adding a rangy SS somewhat mitigates the need to improve the FS position this year. adams would be much better in the slot rather than mcdonald. point being, its much better long term to draft the DB's we need rather than keep plugging in questionable cast-aways for too much money. he's only getting released because his cap number didn't reflect his play.....this should say something about the value you get from him. they dont seem to have a problem keeping wilson, who id due to make more than rolle was.

Wow... he must be a real cream puff then. I didn't see Elam hit much of anything last season. Pool is probably our biggest hitter back there (unfortunately, his noggin might not be able to take too much more of that).

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4949186Updated: February 26, 2010, 2:55 PM ET Source: Chargers do not tender Sproles By Adam Schefter ESPN Archive For the second time in a week, a major turnover has affected the San Diego's backfield. In the same week the Chargers decided to release running back LaDainian Tomlinson, they also opted not to tender running back Darren Sproles, freeing him to leave the team in free agency without any compensation, said a source close to the situation. Had the Chargers wanted to retain Sproles' rights, they would have had to tender him with an offer of nearly $7.3 million for the coming season by March 4. But San Diego deemed that price too high, giving its running back the chance to test free agency. San Diego still would like to re-sign him, and it could, but it will face competition from other teams. Now San Diego's backfield is expected to take on a significantly different look next season, whether or not Sproles returns. Tomlinson will not be back and there is a decent chance Sproles will not be, either. San Diego is expected to look to free agency, trades and the draft in an effort to rebuild its backfield. Free agent running backs such as Minnesota's Chester Taylor and Pittsburgh's Willie Parker would have to view San Diego's offense as appealing. Declining to tender Sproles is one of many significant issues facing the Chargers this offseason. San Diego still must figure out a way to keep free-agent wide receivers Vincent Jackson and Malcom Floyd, decide what it wants to do with linebacker Shawne Merriman, and find a trade partner for cornerback Antonio Cromartie. Adam Schefter is ESPN's NFL Insider.

My free agent wish list(trying to be reasonable):
-Ken Lucas-CB-Seahawks. Holmgren knows him. Has experiance. Should be able to push McDonald to the nickel spot -Stephen Neal-G-Patriots. Is pretty good. Wrestled in college. Would be are biggest $$$ free agent. Would make LT to RG look nice. -Randy McMichael-TE-Rams. A few years ago it looked like he would break out for the Dolphins but he never did. I believe he could come in a compete for the starting job against Evan Moore and Robert Royal. I hope Moore wins it and starts but McMichael could do it. Also has started alot of games -Tully Banta-Cain-OLB-Patriot. He had 10 sacks last season. The Pats aren't big spenders so I can see him getting let go. Also would probably like a chance to show he can do it without the Pats(washed out in SF). Also should be able to start opposite wimbley. or be the 3rd OLB and rotate in alot. -Brandon Lloyd-WR-Broncos. He was kinda a jerk with talent on the niners. But the last 3 years havent really gone his way. So he probably got humbled. We need WR help also. I feel like MoMass is the only guy guaranteed to start and Robo will keep a roster spot. Otherwise we could use 2 more wideouts. -Kelley Washington-WR-Ravens. I liked him as a Bengal. Seemed Like he coulda broke up but then Chris Henry showed up. Same deal as Lloyd. We need WRs
also I would like to bring Furrey and Hadnot back. I would love Bodden or Robinson at CB but I dont see it happening. Overall with so little good free agents money will be commanded more. Good thing we have 11 draft picks.

Of our UFA's i'd be willing to sign Gaines, Hadnot, and Furrey (as backup safety/backup slot WR/award nominee. Although I definitely wouldn't mind letting Mike Furrey go). I think that's it on that list............. And I wouldn't mind if we decided not to sign Gaines either.
Hadnot is a guy I'd like to resign to a short deal. He can play RG or backup guard.
I dunno what the deal is with our RFA's but I'd definitely like to hold onto Matt Roth and DJackson (if we don't resign D'Qwell to long term deal, we should at least trade him.......).
